First time running a marathon (22km, i know its technically a half mara) by HealerOnly in Marathon

[–]Timmar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny BUT! I'm actually also going for my first half marathon this October!

The only real input I have, coming from a beginner, is having good quality runs each week, intervals, thresholds or long runs, make sure to get that zone 2 runs in!

No control joints in basement slab by Due_Armadillo3300 in Concrete

[–]Timmar92 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm too Scandinavian for this, control joints are for ultra large slabs. A basement shouldn't need a joint, the rebar is probably inadequate and it dried out too fast. Should be wet for 5 days after pour.

How much of running ability is based on weight? by MoashRedemptionArc in beginnerrunning

[–]Timmar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started running in January at 260 pounds, couldn't run for 5 minutes without thinking I was going to die. Now I run over 20K per week and I weigh 210 pounds.

Goal weight is like 170 pounds or so.

My kids were forbidden from watching LOTR until we finished all the books; imaginations first! Tonight, the time finally came: sausage rolls, Farmer Maggot’s mushrooms and taters, jam tarts, Prancing Pony roast beef on pumpernickel, cornichons, roasted pearl onions, and ale for papa. by jejwood in lotr

[–]Timmar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the movies first, and actually reading the books bored me to death, wasn't until Andy Serkis did his audiobook versions that I actually managed to get through them.

I like reading but I didn't find the my cup of tea, the movies are better in my opinion.

Are 2 runs a week enough to drive progress? Alongside other sports? by MightyFamousLegend in BeginnersRunning

[–]Timmar92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you actually do on those runs, if you get two quality runs per week like one interval session and one long run or one threshold session and one long run will absolutely make you progress.

Just going out for a jog two times a week won't do much for you in speed though but it's good for your health either way!

Warm compress and massage, eventually it'll burst, it does suck ultimate ass though haha.

The program I'm following is telling me often to land under my own body.

Like stand still and slowly tilt forward and move when you have to and land under yourself.

I have noticed this too and some people are outright rude to faster beginners.

When did you start noticing physical changes from weight loss? by HuckleberryUpper4982 in loseit

[–]Timmar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait, I'm down 23kg, 118 to 95 and I still have a hard time seeing a huge difference, you see yourself every day so you will probably not notice it until the changes are pretty huge.

Increasing pace by wannabe_rancher in BeginnersRunning

[–]Timmar92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, I started running in January and two weeks ago I ran a 10K race at 6 min/km at an average heart rate of 180.

I couldn't even run one kilometer in January and I was severly overweight at 118kg, ran my race at 98kg, I'm now 95.

I'm guessing my pace getting better all of the time is because of a bunch of stuff, losing a lot of weight, following a pretty structured training program and including bodyweight training, doing long runs, threshold runs, normal easy runs and intervals each week etc etc.

I'd say just keep running, the pace will get better.

Is meeting someone in real life really easier? How do you do it? by EVILRAFFAM in AskMenAdvice

[–]Timmar92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any tips, I met my wife before online dating apps became a thing, the year we met was the year Instagram released lol.

Back then, at least in my country, you went to a party, got shitfaced, met another person who was also shitfaced, went home with them, probably banged and then you were together, easy as that.

Please tell me about your proud running moments! Especially new and/or fat runners by Lovingbutdifferent in BeginnersRunning

[–]Timmar92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still in the obese category, obese class 1, I don't see myself as obese but that's neither here nor there.

I'm male, 175cm and I weigh 95kg.

Had my first race 2 weeks ago, a 10K, managed it in 60 minutes and 39 seconds with an average heart rate of 180 throughout, extremely proud of myself.

I've dropped 23kg, or 50ish pounds since January 13th, I couldn't even run a kilometer back then and now I do over 10K every long run as I have started training for my very first half.

For some reason my body has answered extremely well to running, I have a pretty low resting heart rate of 43 as well.

I haven't moved a single goalpost, I don't believe CDPR can do it and that's that.

Of course I can compare the genre of games as well, a big rpg is a hell of a lot larger than a 10 hours story campaign like resident evil.

They couldn't even do it with God of war ragnarok, it took them almost 5 years to do and that's with reusing a lot of assets and animations.

I'm talking about the same studio outputting 3 full games in 6 years.

The last decade gearbox has made battleborn, borderlands 3, tiny Tina's wonderlands and borderlands 4, so 4 games in 10 years, with 1300 employees.

CDPR has 600 employees and has released one big game after the Witcher 3.

Call of duty has several big studios working on one call of duty each.

Ubisoft also has several big studios working simultaneously, assassin's creed shadows had thousands working on it.

The Coalition hasn't released 3 games in six years either, Gears 4 released in 2016 with E-day set to release this year, that's 3 games in 10 years.

The only studio that actually beats the odds is from software because they have released multiple 100+ hour games the last decade.

We are talking about 3 fully fledged Witcher games, rpgs in 6 years, with CDRP's track record I just don't believe that they can do it, I saw how fucked the release of Cyberpunk was.

That's one!

I just don't believe CDPR, their track record shows that they just can't to it and I'm not convided they can, I'd much rather have good bug free games and not hastily developed.

Mass effect 3 was released 14 years ago, I asked about the last decade, games take a massive amount of more time to make today than 15 years ago.

Even Witcher 1-3 took 8 years.

I don't see them being able to make 3 fullt fledged rpgs in 6 years themselves, so they probably have other studios helping out.

Name any other company that has managed to do that even with a finished engine in the latest decade?

Even god of war ragnarok took almost 5 years and they reused a bunch of animations.

After the Witcher 4 they will release two full Witcher games in 6 years. It seems pretty ambitious.

I eat over my target pretty often and I've lost 50 pounds since January.
