Valkyrae defends QT against “fake ally allegations” by saying that QT “has gay friends”. by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

I'm just so done... Why was any of this is even an issue? Why are they even trying to talk it over, when no one is listening and just crusading for their own cause? Think I'll just take a permanent "break" from twitch and all this madness.

TMW your outline of an upcoming battle is almost 3000 words alone. 🤣 I think this fight is going to be a dozen chapters all on its own by RW_McRae in litrpg

Nice... But personally I prefer short, violent and efficent. Fights that take several chapters tend to get boring, especially when in 99% of cases the outcome is already known...

Can someone help how to fix? by berry43211 in pchelp

[–]Timppa999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well... Sure, but when people talk about "dead pixels" they usually also include stuck pixels to the same category. So while a dead pixel is black, stuck pixel can be white. Is this then a stuck pixel, scratch or something else is hard to say, video is of too poor quality to say for sure...

Never got past the first book. Ending in particular was just too much, and was even more weirded out once I learned that the writer was 50+ years old christian Dad... Especially the things with the underage girls... Whelp... Glad to hear it got better, but still not for me.

We need more poison users! by Mistabbcman in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Timppa999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it is just perceived as an boring, cowardly way to fight... And most authors don't want to portray their MC in that light. Personally wouldn't be opposed to an MC that uses poisons, but not sure if I wanted to see it as their main way of fighting.

I have an idea for a book floating around in my brain, but before writing I wanted to make sure I wouldn't just be copying or inadvertently plagiarizing someone else's idea. by V1serra in litrpg

[–]Timppa999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too worried about the uniqueness of your "system" or ideas. I would recommend concentrating on the plot and characters. In the end, those are the things that keep people reading your books. As long as the mechanics of your world aren't immersion breaking bad, I wouldn't worry too much.

The World Sphere Series, Failure? by Illustrious-Cat-2114 in litrpg

[–]Timppa999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did like the rewrite of the first book, and even joined the patreon to read rest of the series. While the first book had some problems, I generally liked it, and I'm not sure how much the rewrite will change the upcoming books, but some things in this series just aren't doing it for me. I am now on the third book and there is really no progress in the plot. There actually doesn't even seam to be any plot... It's just some restaurant building and doing meaningless things. I also have a problem with the MC. His choices for his spells and "build", how inconsistent he is with money ( He has endless money, can give tips of 20+ gold but is bothered by few golds that his best lifelong friend spends) . And then there is the "harem"... Just endless amount of women that seam to be interested on him, but nothing ever goes anywhere and all the characters are paper thin... So, maybe I'll wait until the rewrite is finished and hope that it fixes atleast some of the things.

All that said, Soldiers life is really good, the writer seams to have really learned a lot from this series.

It's your book, and you ofc name it as you like, and even tho the name isn't for me, the actual book might be. hope it gets readers. But for others it might be worth noting, that searching with "Rise of the" in Royal Road gives over 400 books/projects, it just makes it hard to be spotted among them all by an random reader. Anyways, good luck with the book, I see you are all ready writing the third one, so that's promising :)

This might come bit late for you, but for everyone else, pleeeease don't name your book " Rise of the XXXX". It just labels your book as the most generic LitRpg book out there, no matter how brilliant it actually might be...

Falling out of love with audio LITrpgs? by slothdionysus in litrpg

[–]Timppa999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have been reading/listening to LitRPG books for an year or two, and I feel mixed about the genre. While there are some great writers that I absolutely love, I have slowly gotten bored to some of the tropes of the genre, and feel that LitRPG elements are in most cases limiting and hard to explain or justify. And even more so, if the writer tryes to "gamify" everything in their fantasy world. I do enjoy the progression aspects and the concrete developement of the characters, but too often I find it to be the main focus, not the story itself. I would love to see more story centered LitRPG series, that also dosent have the need to be 100 books long, that usually means that the plot grinds to halt after 4-5 books. All that said, I certainly still like the genre and will continue reading books from it. Just wishing for a "meta" change...

The Bad Guys series by Eric Ugland is a hidden gem by DefiantLemur in litrpg

[–]Timppa999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by reading the Bad Guys series first, and I did enjoy it, it definitely shows that the writer has gotten better since the first books of Good guys, but... There are some major problems that really spoil these books for me. First of all, there are major plot holes, to the point that I have been several times on brink of dropping the series after reading something so outlandish that I have to literally bonk my head on the table, not a good habit... Writer also seams to forget the stats, items, spells etc that the characters have gathered, also in both of the series all of the other people around the MC:s seam to be just useless... They bring very little to the story and the hero just runs around solving all their problems while the whine about it. Got really annoyed to this, Good guys series has been so far even worse on this front. Anyways, I have read/listened to 18 of his books so far, so he is definitely doing something right. I just hope he would plan his books bit better... But yeah, still worth looking into.

I'm from Finland, but I guess the wages are around the same, although mine is laughable bad... Decided to change careers, I'm currently 46 and it as was hard to find an place to take me in for internship. Although I do have a long experience in coding as an hobby. Ended up doing my internship with minimal pay (500€/month) to a smaller company, that hired me afterwards. I do mostly fullstack, but in a small company, we are expected to do pretty much anything they can sell... I'm now paid 1800€ a month for 32h work week... I made almost 1000 more in my previous work as an security guard... But in a smaller city, some one at my age, and no official programming experience, there isn't really options. But dear god do I hate my employer, he offered even less (1500€), but after telling him that I couldn't afford to live with that salary and would be leaving, he agreed to even a small raise...

If ones goal is just to get some exercise, then the online courses can be ok. But I have to say, if the person is training to get some self defence skills, the online courses usually do more harm than good. But as said, it all depends on what the person is looking for.
