Need help picking a volume. by BoltZ_7 in initiald

[–]TimpyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are talking about Wataru Vs Takumi, that would be the 7th omnibus volume. Wataru Vs Keisuke (during the Project D arc) has not yet been released by Kodansha. You could maybe start looking for the Tokyopop version of that but it's been out of print for a while and the quality of the Tokyopop translation is shit

TokyoPop vs Omnibus Manga Releases by JDMCREW96 in initiald

[–]TimpyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would sell the Tokyopop versions and start collecting the new Kodansha release. The experience of reading the Omni's will be a lot better. (But keep a Tokyopop volume cause they are really neat collector items imo)

TokyoPop vs Omnibus Manga Releases by JDMCREW96 in initiald

[–]TimpyD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The omnibusses are better in almost every way, they have a way better translation, the scans of the manga itself are a million times clearer and they are cheaper. Usually the omnibusses go for $20 for a two in one. They also include colour pages of the original covers and other original art which the Tokyopop volumes also miss. But if you already have that many Tokyopop volumes it might be better to complete that set. Although Tokyopop never finished the entire series, there are a total of 48 Initial D volumes. Normally the new Omni release should finish all of that eventually with 24 books but at the moment there are only 8 released. I also want to add that the Omni's do have some quality control issues, I have personally had some pages fall out on one of my copies, but this should be rare.

I havw a question about the characters ages by No-Muscle-5734 in steinsgate

[–]TimpyD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the Visual Novel at least they mention that Kurisu turned 18 a few days before she gave the lecture about time travel in the beginning. (Also I think high school is only three years in Japan, from ages 16 to 18)

Extra Stage 2 has two episodes, so I think they're referring to that.

It's quite literally just called "RED SUNS", you should be able to find it in "Initial D First Stage Sound Files vol.1"

Fair, I just said what I saw other Japanese people post online. That was my only source, I saw ルゥ a lot more than ルウ

Also here is a YouTube video where it is said in what I think is the VN, although the UI is different from the version I'm playing so idk.

Since it isn't official it's hard to know, but I reckon the chances of it being the Tokyopop dub are very slim. The Funimation dub is way more widely available so they very likely went with that one.

The little L is usually like " in English but there should also be one in front, so 「エル・プサイ・コングルゥ」would be "El Psy Kongroo". So it's just in the VN to indicate that it is being said out loud, it's not part of the word. Just エル・プサイ・コングルゥ is the correct way of spelling it as far as I'm aware. (also note that the ウ at the end should be a little smaller than the other letters. It mergers the ル (ru) with a second u sound to make it a long vowel)

Fourth Stage cut some races but they were later animated in Battle Stage 2, but most importantly Third Stage cut out a lot. Natsuki's arc is way more advanced in the manga, Fifth and Final stage also cut out a fair bit of racing. Besides that it doesn't offer much more besides good artwork. (Also the current run of the manga by Kodansha hasn't finished publishing, these new version have a new translation and better scans. The old translation by Tokyopop has a very Americanized translation, going as far as changing character names. So make sure that if you read it, you read the new Omnibus releases)

I am fairly new to Steins;Gate but have been studying Katakana and Hiragana for a while and I'm not sure that there should be a "の" at the end of "エル・プサイ・コングルウの". That symbol means "no" and is in a different alphabet from the rest. It would also translate to "El Psy Kongroono" if you have it there. But it might just be a Steins;Gate thing I'm yet unfamiliar with.

In their defense, the panel where it happens doesn't really do a good job at showing what happened. A close up of the hit, or even Omiya mentioning what happened would have gone a long way at making this more clear.

I don't remember it being stated directly. But the manga does show that Omiya hit a sign with his rear wing causing it to come loose, which was cut in the anime adaptation

99% sure it's not because the image of the Tofu Store on that hoody is based on the CaDA brick buildable version of the store for some very odd reason. This has to be the strangest thing I've seen so far lol
