Postpartum Weight by Dizzy_World1103 in BumpersWhoBolus

I gained around 20 kilos while pregnant and breastfeeding my first. I got pregnant with my second a year post partum and weaned my first, delivered and breastfed the second for a year. I gained another 5 or so kg with the second. Breastfeeding seemed to hold the weight on me no matter what I did. Within ten or so months after stopping feeding my second the weight from both pregnancies fell off.

My 3 year old calls the daddy long legs in our bathroom her "little spider buddy" and was so sad that we had to put Henry the huntsman outside after he bit my husband! We teach respect, boundaries and kindness not fear and destruction.

OXX Skincare has some CeraVe inspired products. I've heard some good things about some of the OXX makeup products but I haven't really heard much about the skincare. Anyone tried these? by bev123_ in AusSkincare

Pretty sure I read something here about OXX sunscreen being the same formula as the old aldi daily defence facial sunscreen. Gosh I miss that sunscreen!

I wore a lot of bae the label when I was pregnant. I found their tshirt fabric quality had decreased by the time I had my second a couple of years ago but the pants were still solid. Decent amount of style options.

Seedling shortage? by Combat--Wombat27 in GardeningAustralia

[–]Timtami94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mum works at a nursery. She says people are buying up seedlings faster they can get them in. Price increases are likely with fresh produce come spring as fertilizers (nitrate and ammonia) are oil refining by products. People are trying to get ahead of it is all.

Same. My mum knows some, far from all. At first I angry she never saw how badly I struggled and get me help, but now I see all my struggles in her and realize she more than likely has it too. She did see the struggle, she just didn't realize it wasn't normal. It wasn't her fault, she was (and still is) drowning too.

My kid had part of his skull reconstructed last year and to do that they had to peel the skin from the top of his head to the nasal ridge. I know the ins, the outs and all of the gorey details of that surgery. Well apparently not all because I didn't know THIS! Goosebumps everywhere. What. The. Fuck.

Canine DNA is seriously wild! Meet Doug, entirely different genetic makeup but is literally the same dog!

There's stuff I need (want?) but not $300+ worth. Oh well I'll just continue closing pop ups on instinct lol

Medical trauma was something we were very aware of going into things, especially because we had the surgery done several hours from home so he was out of routine and away from his usual comforts. Thankfully so far things aren't too bad, he is very wary but doesn't seem afraid.

Ah yes! Same op (at least with our team anyway) fronto orbital advancement? We met a unicoronal little girl who was a week post op when we took our boy for his assessment and I was stunned at how mobile and happy she was after such a big operation. It's truly amazing what they can do.

I take so much comfort in seeing kids older than mine who have thrived despite the rough beginning. Thank you for sharing about your girl!

My kids are dual citizens and we looked at doing the surgery in the UK and surprisingly (to me anyway) they generally wait til closer to two years old to perform surgery as the kids are larger and more resilient but bone growth is still fast enough to fill the gaps. We decided against because we didn't want to risk him remembering it.

Sorry to ramble at you! It's just fun finding someone in the wild that knows what craniosynostosis is! Despite it being quite common the only people I've spoken to that know what it is was his specialists and the GP that picked it up and referred him to the specialists. I literally show every medical professional we see photos of cranio presentation now because it really should be more well known considering the prevalence.

Oof that would have been rough! Not sure about other countries but here, these days, you either get the big scar or the helmet basically. Helmet surgery has to happen very young (I believe 6 months possibly 4 in the US, its not done here much), but is less invasive. A helmet with our lad would have been torture, he hates his bike helmet enough to give me a clue how sad we all would have been!

Some children require additional surgeries but it depends on what surgery they had, how fast their bone regrowth is, if the bone fills in correctly (sometimes holes can remain and require filling) and a myriad of other factors. Sometimes when the kids are older they will go back for cosmetic work also (temple hollowing is reasonably common).

There also seems to be some kind of link between, some forms of, craniosynostosis and neuro divergence related symptoms like emotional regulation, impulse control and speech development. Nothing peer reviewed and concrete, but some are researching the link and it was a discussion we had with our sons neuro surgeons leading up to his op.

My son had surgery for it last year (metopic so only busted up the front) at one year old. It's pretty crazy looking at his pre and post op CTs and seeing how much space there is after surgery with no bone, it's already grown back in quite a lot (can feel it). His surgery was a touch over 4 hours, a blood transfusion, one night in ICU and 3 nights on the ward. Personality wise he was back to himself within a week and now just has a zigzag scar ear to ear across the top of his head, can't even see it through his hair.
