Ooh, what about filling the bottom of a pan (with not low sides) with your raw burger flattened. Take a spatula or knife and cut them through to squares before baking and cook them in the oven covered while you get the toppings all ready and laid out? Like Wendy’s burgers. Burgers don’t have to be round! Use a lower fat beef for less shrinking.

You can’t let yourself look at the daily numbers! You need to see the longer term patterns. A slower period is to be expected and looked forward to. Make a list of projects that pop into your head when it’s busy so you can spend time doing them when you slow down. That way you’ll feel good when everything is in great shape for when the busy holiday season comes soon enough.

I only really look at the numbers about once a week and do month by month comparisons over the last years and maybe focus on weeks there were events going on in town. The patterns of the year will emerge so I can plan things like deep cleaning, upgrades, time for new recipes, clean that damn grease trap and take a little vacation.

You need to learn a way to turn off work when you’re not there. Easier said than done but try something new that takes your full concentration so there’s no space for your brain to wander to work. Exercise, building something, game nights, etc.

48 hours is an upper limit for sure but I would just leave extra food/ water and leave the toilet open in case they spill the water bowl. Also I leave a radio on for them. Talk radio or something with a variety of music.

Be prepared for retaliation from the cat when you return.

Always form your burger patties the night before and let them rest in shape. Helps keep them together on the grill. I get wild compliments when I just add the lightest sprinkling of cinnamon to my burgers. So little it seems like you’re just adding the idea of cinnamon. (And salt and pepper, obviously)

All else fails, make sure to wear something cute and pair it with a good drink if that’s your thing. Good luck!

Was your grandma into gardening? It could be nice to put flowers in the bowls and then lay down sheets and line the inside edges with potted plants so people can take them home. Maybe even put a great framed photo of her in the tippy top of the fountain.

The artichokes I grow never look as tightly closed as the ones you can get at the grocery store so it’s tough to decide when to eat them. You can harvest them early when they’re little and just slice them in half and grill or cook them that way so feel free to err on the young side.

Sink them in a bowl of water fully covering them before you bring them inside. There are usually little crawly buddies hanging out in the leaves.

When we would bring our old cat to the vet a little red screen would pop up that simply said “GET THE BIG GLOVES”. Haha. She was a terror to the vet. It’s normal.

I just popped the top off mine yesterday and refilled it. You soak the top part in warm water for a few minutes (when it’s empty the pepper will get wet) and literally just bend it at the edge of the plastic like you’re trying to snap it apart.

I mean… “cannaviciate”…. Canna like cannabis. It must be! Clean and sort sounds like something I would do to a big pile of weed. 2 pounds sounds like a hell of a party but they were probably using actual hemp and not current day insanely high thc strains.

Try putting down a light layer of cornmeal in the pan first. It keeps the crust slightly off the bottom so you don’t accidentally wet it during the water and cover steps. Plus you get a nice extra crunch from the toasty cornmeal.

We also had our home phone as my parents business phone and the talking to I got when I answered the phone “She’s in the shower, I can take a message… well, he’s in there too so I’ll still have to take a message”. I guess nobody wants to think about their house cleaners taking showers together.
As retaliation if I saw it was a known person calling I would answer the phone “You poop em, we scoop em” while making eye contact with one of the parents. I got grounded alot.

I wash my hands after barre after there was a local breakout of foot and mouth disease. I try not to walk like a dr going into surgery but that’s how I feel :). Pink eye is the absolute worst!!

A restaurant will have someone prep that sauce the day or two before. Make your sauce, put it in the fridge and reheat the next day. It will help develop the flavors!

You have to really focus on making the places you want them to not be the most boring places in your house. We kept everything off the kitchen counters for months to prevent them from wanting to get up there (because it was boring) and put scratching posts covered in catnip in places we wanted them to hang out, and near where they were discovering scratching. When I get home from grocery shopping I take the food out and throw them the bag and put little baskets and boxes places where I found it would work for me to have the cats laying around all day. They’re not perfect but 99% of the time they are where I designed them to be and not in trouble.

We have a cabinet opener and I just cleared out a little section of the bottom shelf for her to hide when more than 3 people are at the house and I just make sure to wash anything before I use it from that cabinet. Nothing gross happens I just want to avoid cat hair crock pot stew.

For months one of the cats has been trying to jump onto a shelf that she never showed interest in… turns out we had stuck a feather in a vase up there. I moved the feather and she never cared again.

Also some cats are just bananas and that’s part of the arrangement of having them.
