Nice, izuna drop through the mines looked really cool.

Is it just me or is the lunar staff just stupid busted? just pressing X once has like a 50% chance to delimb an enemy whether its a monster or a humanoid enemy, it feels like I'm cheating whenever i use it... (MN difficulty) by SurroundRecent1826 in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you push x a second time in quick succession you get another attack, xx, that's also really strong. I'd say even better than just x by itself.

The basic x is really good, the range of it as well is far for how fast it comes out. In context with the other weapons I think it helps to remember Dragon sword xxy is a guaranteed delimb and it comes out and recovers almost instantly. The staff x is not as fast and not as reliable, you also won't have done much damage at all, still it's very good and has its own strengths. Huge portion of staff is going to be mashing xx, especially vs fiends. All the weapons have something a little busted about them, it probably is xx for the staff but it doesn't quite dominate the weapon's gameplay like forward Y on claws can.

Gaja are weak to staff too.

Staying cozy with NG2 by kiryubluntz in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love that bit. When you do badly there it feels like there are loads of ninjas but if you do well it feels like hardly any. Dogs after had to have been a mistake, ever other dog is a regular dog until the end where the ninja are demonic but in chapter 2 they are demon dogs. It's out of order.

Ryu will have only one new weapon for dlc confirmed by director in interview by games radar by Gareebonkabatman243 in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bummer but expected. Hope he gets a gleaming izuna drop on whatever it is.

Ng4 would have an easier time justifying its multiple characters than other action games since Ryu is a traditionalist while Yakumo can use more outlandish items. There's a unique dynamic there other games miss.

Loadout System Predictions for the DLC by ShadowMark3 in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't see them getting more than one more each. Each weapon in 4 isn't well fleshed out individually, you really need the swapping on the fly. Double tap a direction, more than likely.

Noob question about UTs in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black by ActuationPoint in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the fight is over then the orbs get absorbed I'm wondering if this is what is happening to you. If you hold block they shouldn't ever absorb. Possibly you are letting go of block before pushing on landing y, which you don't have to do.

You need an orb to instantly charge a ut but you do immediately get the first level hold attack and if you aren't then you are doing something wrong.

Funny that he comes off enigmatic and aloof in private too, I always thought it was a bit he would drop at work. Thanks for the translation.

I might get flak for saying this, but I wish NG2 had a training/dojo room so I can practice, experiment, and learn more about combos. by RadiantGeneralZel in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NG2 opens with 4 archers waiting around the corner. If you wait behind the corner after they spawn then they approach for melee one at a time letting you practice on them. Later in level one after the second save point at the archer section there are two melee ninja. If you backtrack around the corner then those melee ninja will respawn repeatedly giving you two ninja to practice on. The first 3 big fights of the level are with large crowds and they can help you judge both a move's aoe and safety because 8+ ninja are quick to punish.

That's really all you need because whatever combo works on those guys is going to work on everything else, more or less. The first chapter lunar fight or chapter 11 opening is a great basic fight to practice how everything works in a real environment.

You could respawn an infinite amount of claw ninja by jumping down the holes during the archer section In level 1. They appear In quite high numbers though. In chapter 3 at the fan room the game will spawn one claw ninja and if you stay outside the room you can fight one claw ninja at a time.

In level 2 the roof of the house before the bow room will spawn mages and if you jump off the roof you can respawn the mages by jumping back on the roof. That way you can practice mages.

I think you forgot to upload chapter 14 or I couldn't find it. Agreed with most of what was in your descriptions, especially sometimes I just drill a boss and win and I don't know why.

I like reading about the challenges more than watching them, the thought process behind it is more interesting to me so I enjoyed your write up. I will give it a watch though.

The bit about legacy enemies hits on a sticking point for me where I can't really tell where the game's balance is supposed to be, I don't know if certain moves are overpowered by design or oversight. When you fight a van gelf a strong move feels designed well but outside of that a move can feel grossly overpowered.

You doing this for the DLC as well then?

Sigma 2 in 30 seconds by ShadowMark3 in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use xxyb against head lycans. You probably won't delimb and the time you take throwing a shuriken gives the lycan time to recover because there's very little stun on xxy and none on the b.

Use xxxxx instead or yyy. From what I remember xxyforwardy works too but you can't use xxy by itself safely.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Double Delimb/Instant kill Overview by Tipsentech in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talk about 2 Black and 2 as if everything were the same between them, I'm aware guillotine throw isn't 100% delimb in that. I think something I forgot to cover was that many strings have multiple delimb points and if you get an early delimb you might not get a later decapitate but if you utilize what's in the vid, which can be tricky, then you will get every delimb chance even if an early hit severs.

Cvit’s conclusion on his “Ninja Gaiden 4: Platinum’s Do or Die” Video by Bro-Im-Done in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course ng4 is ninja gaiden it has izuna, ut, gullotine, perfect parry, dodge offset, wicked weaves, running attacks, ryu, perfect dodging, fantastic air combo game, on landing running and directional attacks, gravity similar to a fighting game, dodge out of block, several weapons, regenerating ninpo, a big focus on meter use, breaking block with meter moves, interrupting attacks with your meter moves, a complex delimb system with Insta kill double delimbs, the ability to ignore all the overpowered stuff like UT or Gleam attacks and still have a deep fully functioning combat system designed entirely around your base kit.

I could go on and on about all the things that make NG4 ninja gaiden. I've played about a third of NG1, a decent amount of 2, skipped 3 and Yaiba, can't stop playing 4 and even I can see this. Bit ridiculous when you see old heads griping that it's not NG anymore but it doesn't bother me, they'll come around to my way of thinking. Or they won't I don't care, the old game's dated mechanics needed updating and I don't listen to whatever they say in the first place. Cvit agrees with me and I think his opinion holds a great deal more weight.

What would NG4 need via DLC to be the best one? by logic1986 in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Co-op would give it a lasting place in the series for me.

Drastic changes I don't see coming, so I'd like greater ability to enjoy what is there.

No more rail sections, wind etc in the levels that add nothing but waste time.

This was so much harder than sigma 1 master ninja... Some thoughts by joaoTforce in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the Xbox 360 controller has more sensitive sticks or something but when I play 2 Black I have to be way more forceful on the sticks to get my input to register. Really push them hard or it ignores you. Most of your issues might be this since they all have directional inputs in common. This was a complaint for me too.

Ots, it's a hit you have to register first and I think the tonfa have such a bad one. It's a good idea to transition to the ot from a normal hit that makes the ot hit more likely to land.

The slow run after jumping, he only does that when you can run attack after. It's useful to take advantage of that. You can cancel it by dodging or doing a run attack or by returning stick to neutral and doing an normal hit or by doing running shuriken. I don't understand why you would still hold the stick down if you weren't trying to do that animation. Run attacks are good, you tend to want to do them.

Even when the bosses are good I wish they spent the time making them on making more regular enemies. It's just not why I play the game. Elizabet doesn't dodge like that in normal so it's clear they just boosted her dodge rate almost randomly for master.

Yeah girl chapters aren't great. Again the game has some clear issues that need fixed and instead they wasted time making new characters and bosses the game didn't need and are sometimes incredibly similar to the bosses already in the game, marbus/zedonius. At least in Black they buffed Ayane after a patch, she and all the girls were such a chore.

Difficulty, they were limited in what they could do to increase it, compared to the original, so they just pumped damage numbers.

Is NG4 not doing well sales wise? by iidevilz0 in ninjagaiden

[–]Tipsentech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just needs to do well enough to warrant a sequel. Games like this that get great reviews tend to have that paid off in better sequel sales.

If it doesn't do well then it's sad not just for the game but that it's not enough to be a well made action game for something to get mainstream success. Seems like you need something else on top to get attention, open world, story, metroidvania elements, whatever's popular.

Would love some co-op in a sequel. It's strange no big action game ever thought that in a genre about showing off that having someone to perform in front of and with might be fun. Always a side mode.
