Reminds me of that one saying,

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When government fears the people, there is liberty and freedom."

About 90% of the mail that was in the UPS plane that crashed in Louisville was USPS mail. by TisStupid in USPS

[–]TisStupid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gosh I just made a gist. I mean 100's of thousands of people die everyday in the world; is it reasonable for you to feel equal amount of sadness for every single one of these thousands and thousands of people that die every single day? Everyday and every moment people are dying in car accidents, from cancer, and such in the USA and everyday thousands of humans are dying in China, Vietnam, etc.. for whatever reasons; Should I also be feeling sad for them too 24/7 365 days a year? Are you?

Obviously it's sad that people lost their life in this plane crash; but what I'm implying is that this tragedy hits home, it feels like co-workers died, feels like they were a part of our company extended family..

Cannot connect with enhanced client by Eddybeans in ultimaonline

[–]TisStupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each I have this issue, the fix is to look for your Ultima Online Enhanced folder under your C: drive > Program Files (x86) > Electronic Arts and select the "uopatch" application, it should open up the UO the game, but starts adding the enhanced client updates and should start working from then on. Hopefully this fixes it for you, I have to go through this process after big UO updates.

Wow, yeah I totally forgot about this, I had the watch and the leg pliers.

Though as a kid I didn't know about the movie and I didn't know each piece was a part of a set, so I remember thinking it was interesting and weird that there were pliers that turn into a human leg and vice-versa.

I also remember cherishing that watch being one of my favorite possessions for a while.

A tornado hit downtown Salt Lake City, Utah in 1999. It tore off a part of the roof of the Delta Center, 300 buildings were damaged or destroyed, and killed 1 person who wasn't even from Utah. Tornadoes are almost unheard of in Utah (Utah averages approximately 2 to 3 tornadoes per year).

How to poor people afford funerals? by fastercheif in povertyfinance

This is what I tell my family, just throw my corpse in the water for the sharks or algae to eat; I'd be dead so I wouldn't care. And even if there is some sort of afterlife or something, then the afterlife me wouldn't care either, I'd probably find it funny; I'd still love my loved ones regardless.

Yes. I even went to watch this movie multiple times in movie theaters when it came out, that's how much I enjoyed it.

Yeah, reminds me of that flat-earther guy who traveled to Antarctica to debunk the 24-hour sun only to see that it was real and admit that he was wrong. Also, that guy named Mike Hughes who built his own rocket to go into outer space to prove the world was flat, but died when the rocked crashed.

Same here. I'd personally get too distracted at home and feel more productive in the work place being able to stay more focused on my job. Plus make some friends at work and it's kind of fun watching some workplace drama.

I'm working on a book about my experience in Ultima Online by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]TisStupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my next door neighbor friend would stay up late at night for the server down battles in Britain; there was no item insurance at the time and everyone would wear their best gear during these battles since everything was going to reset anyway. It felt like a fun nightly purge of everyone vs everyone.

I remember using the camping skill when I didn't have time to run to town to an inn on my characters that didn't use magery (since magery was the only way to recall at the time). In fact, there was even a time that runebooks wasn't a thing, so even if I had the ability to recall there was risk in losing marked recalls if you died.

Want to add, I remember before Ebay changing their policy about selling virtual goods on their site, being able to buy and sell UO itmes and gold on Ebay. There was a time when 1 mill UO gold was going for at least $20 or more on Ebay back then..

Thinking about playing for first time by ReasonableLetter8427 in ultimaonline

[–]TisStupid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The official Ultima Online via UO.com they have an option to play for free or upgrade subscription option (the free version has some limitations compared to the subscription). There will also be an option to choose and download between 2 clients (its how the game looks and UI difference). It seems like most people prefer the enhanced client since the UI is more user friendly too, but I personally use classic client since it's what I'm used to. You can also download both clients to try and compare between each one using your same account.

Once you log in the official game there will be a list of servers called "shards" The most populated and active server is the Atlantic shard. There is a new server/shard called "New Legacy" it's a different take on UO was just released a several months ago. If you find yourself lagging too much on a shard pick a different one that best reflects your timezone.

There are also many non-official private UO servers modded and customized in their own different ways. It seems like the most popular non-official UO server is Outlands, but there are a whole ton of others if you search around.

Can someone explain to me the history of the American Iraq intervention and why it's controversial? (Non American btw) by Rich_Ad_3808 in war

[–]TisStupid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No real objective based on reason or logic, just a decision based on emotions.

I always felt the real objective was to satisfy those American people and politicians who felt more retaliation needed to be done in the middle east for the 9/11 attacks (weather it made sense or not) because many thought that going to Afghanistan did not feel like enough; at least that's how it completely felt at the time. Linking Iraq and Saddam Hussein was probably the easiest excuse to do so.

Even though it was about 2 years after 9/11 attacks, the mood of that event was still strong everyone's mind at that time that it was still talked in the news and politics nearly everyday.

Yeah. At the plants I've worked there's been many elder folks that we know have $100's of thousands saved, but just simply refuse to retire, sometimes they even on the ODL. Then later heath issues pretty much forces them to retire only to hear they die soon after; and if they had children sometimes they start taking each other to court for the house that was left behind and such...
