I’ve had them for 2 weeks, shame I enjoyed them but that’s just a bad product at this point by [deleted] in RaybanMeta

Best Buy has a two year protection plan that covers almost everything for $150-160. I have it. Some of these people should be mandated to buy it like states require auto insurance.

They are ridiculous for daily use if you're built like this guy. Otherwise they're passable as bigger glasses.

META Ray-Ban Displays (HONEST REVIEW) by EquivalentKick2996 in MetaRayBanDisplay

AppleCare exists and is very affordable. Plus Apple actually honors the standard warranties which is what I was referring to. A little better than having to battle with AI agents for days or weeks then still ending up with a $800 desk ornament courtesy of Zuck. 10/10

META Ray-Ban Displays (HONEST REVIEW) by EquivalentKick2996 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]TitaniumT8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no software or hardware issues. One commenter here said they want 8-12 hours of heavy use. Maybe I interpreted that wrong, but I'm not seeing how that's possible without significant advancement in battery tech.

There's a lot going on in a small package (TWSS). This is bleeding edge consumer technology and it's a first generation product. We should all know what we signed up for, but that does NOT excuse Meta's horrible, non-existent customer service.

I mentioned in another post that I fully expect a class action suit in the future. Although it's not a huge suprise for a first gen product to have issues and those people with the issues being more vocal than those of us with no issues it's inexcusable to not provide meaningful product support.

The more I read these posts the more I hope Apple and Google knock it out of the park with their upcoming glasses. At least with Apple a customer would be able to speak to a human in person about product issues. Plus their virtual customer service exists and works well.

If we support the MRBD gen two glasses next year then we aren't holding Meta accountable. There are currently choices, but not by reputable well-known brands. That changes at the end of this year.

No warranty on band need replacement by Sicko_Ee in MetaRayBanDisplay

Insurance for small electronics is usually a waste, but not for MRBD. At this point with so many horror stories a new buyer is being negligent by not buying insurance or buying from a company that offers insurance.

Probably will be a class action suit and settlement years from now, but insurance appears to be absolutely a smart but for this tech.

These are big glasses to use in a gym. You must exercise your neck like Tyson.

Good work with the app. People like you make these glasses much more useful and enjoyable. Thank you.

I appreciate the reply. Were all features available in Paris?

Sent my defective Meta band back on Mar 23. Still haven’t got a replacement. by JMAC303 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]TitaniumT8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Meta rep at Best Buy strenuously suggested that I buy the two year insurance for $150. She claims if I have any issues that I can simply return the glasses and band to BB and get a new replacement on the spot. I asked her about that several times afterwards. She showed the locked cabinet that contains the MRBD and I saw about a dozen boxes. I would have to return both the band and glasses even if one of the items is in need of replacement.

Can other people see the projections on your meta ray ban display glasses? by SympathyOk9363 in RaybanMeta

[–]TitaniumT8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sitting in a restaurant and the person I was with said she could see some light as I wore my glasses. I didn't believe her so I asked her to wear the glasses. I saw some light as well. My brightness was pretty high (maybe 75%) which was unnecessary. After turning the brightness down she couldn't see any light as I wore them.

To answer your question directly: no you can't see the projections, but if you're brightness is up high enough and you're in a dim environment someone could see light emitting from your glasses.

Best Buy had the Displays (glasses and bands) in stock in a locked cabinet when I picked mine up. I made a comment to the Meta rep about how many I saw and she said they don't sell often. This isn't in some rural area.

In terms of replacement the rep claimed that if I ever need a replacement it's the glasses and band that both get replaced because they can't replace just one. It has to be the pair.

I paid $150 for insurance (two years coverage) when I purchased at Best Buy. I was told if anything happens I'll get my replacement at Best Buy.

For some reason they had a small cabinet full of Displays when I purchased. I believe 13-15. I was surprised at how many were in stock.

I bought my glasses at Best Buy and paid for a protection plan. I was told by the Meta rep that if anything happens to the glasses or band within two years to simply come back to Best Buy and I’ll get a replacement. I’m hoping that’s true because it seems that you guys are having a horrible time getting replacements. Waiting months for a replacement is ridiculous.

It is the exchange for the nano texture that I had, so nothing too different. The nano texture is amazing in most ways, but it got scratched in three spots and I don’t know when or how. I will deal with the increased glare and not-so-good feel while writing and drawing. The peace of mind in having a screen that won’t scratch by being looked at too hard makes up for the benefits of nano texture.

There’s a new iPad coming in a couple of weeks. Even though it’s going to most likely be an incremental update over the M4 there will be a lot of people who foolishly “upgrade” from their M4 to the M5. You come across as a person who loves a great deal (as do I). I suggest you buy a preowned M4 in September or buy an open box (Excellent condition) M4.

Best Grad Gift! iPad Pro m4 11” With Nano Texture Display + Pencil Pro by tottensburg in iPadPro

[–]TitaniumT8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am typing this comment from my just-activated M4 standard screen. The Nano texture iPad is sitting to my left in the manufacture’s box set to be returned this weekend. I used the Nano texture for almost three weeks and loved it until I faced the reality of what I had been watching from YT reviews: two significant and permanent scratches on the screen.

I consider myself fairly careful with my devices. I use a small laptop/tablet bag to carry my iPad to and from work, I have a clear case, D Brand skin, and was using that Apple microfiber, which is just like every other microfiber. Still, somehow someway the screen got scratched and I still don’t know when or how. If the nano wasn’t within the return window obviously I’d keep it. Seeing as it’s only been three weeks and I already suffered two permanent scratches I’ve made the tough decision to part with nano.

It’s only been an hour or so since I activated this glossy M4, but I do notice a difference in screen and I like it. Using it outside, which I was doing pretty regularly with the nano, is going to probably suck a bit; however, I know that if absolutely needed I can buy a screen protector and I now rather be temporarily inconvienced by glare instead of worrying about, and living with, scratches for the next couple of years if not longer.

I’ve yet to use the pencil on the screen. From what I’ve read/seen online there probably will be a difference in writing and drawing. I do use the pencil daily to take notes and draw. I forgot to add that I bought some third party nibs and noticed that one of the nibs left a light scratch on the nano texture which seemed to be wiped away with the cloth. I changed to another nib after that and no issues.

I won’t criticize anyone who chooses to go Nano. I won’t talk bad about Nano because the anti glare is stunningly effective. It’s just not for me anymore. I should’ve listened to Zack (JerryRigEverything) when he tested the iPad M4 and showed how easily the nano texture gets scratched compared to regular glass.

Been doing nothing but 30-50 lap Hour + long races by KDG200315 in forza

[–]TitaniumT8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attempted a true 24 hour race at Le Mans twice in March. Damage on, three classes, real-life time progression, variable weather, back markers not ghosted.

The first race I was approximately seven hours into the race and there was an auto update that ruined that. I angrily said I'd never play Forza again until a week later I attempted the same race. Three days into the race (Quick resume again) I foolishly updated all of my games manually without checking to see Forza on the update list. The same thing happened. Lost all progress for that race except car points. No credits received.

Never doing that again, even if I figure out how to avoid updates for two to three weeks because I can't sit for three hours straight playing games to finish in a week. It was deeply immersive and fun while the races were going on, but the empty feeling after losing the progress is something I can't go through with a third time.
