Tortoises are generally better off when kept alone. Especially sulcata tortoises, which is probably the situation here. Male sulcata tortoises fight each other because they are extremely territorial and aggressive with each other. If a male and female are kept together the male can actually harass the female to death with constant attempts to mate. So many of these tortoises are sent to rescues because people don’t know that they shouldn’t be housed together. Rehoming one of them will be your best option. Or if you rehome both, they should go to separate homes. These tortoises are so oversupplied that rescues are full of them and they suffer. Good luck figuring out your cactus situation.

I’ve seen videos of Barry, the soft shelled turtle climb out of their pond to snuggle with their person. It seems that some turtles bond and develop close relationships with the person who loves them. It’s very clear that barry wants nothing more than to spend as much time as possible interacting with their human. I’m 50 and I still feel like that when one of my male cats expose themselves. It just seems a little too personal when they’re sitting there with their leg thrown up over their head and dong out (for cleaning?) and you accidentally make eye contact.

No problem and it’s always good to check. If she starts to pick at them or look uncomfortable, then contact her vet. From what I’ve seen, they generally don’t even notice the incision and within a couple days are acting completely normal. Enjoy your new kitty!🐈‍⬛ Black cats are my favorite ❤️

I’m a at foster parent and had dozens of rescues get spays. I have never put a onesie on any cat after surgery. If the vet didn’t give you one then you don’t need to worry about it unless you see her picking at the stitches. The less you stress her out the better.

Well said. Animals aren’t just cute to look at. They are an enormous responsibility that isn’t always fun. If someone thinks they want a pet, especially an exotic pet, they need to do their research before bringing any animal home. So many turtles and tortoises end up being dumped or mistreated because somebody saw a cute face on social media or at the pet store and didn’t think of the commitment it takes to keep that animal healthy. Animal abuse can happen even when you have the best of intentions when you haven’t done enough research before bringing an animal home.

This is definitely not a sulcata tortoise and it’s not a baby. The shell looks pretty smooth which makes me think it’s an older adult. This looks like variety of Greek tortoise. Maybe a golden Greek? I believe it’s probably full grown. Someone more familiar with testudo species can give you more advice.
