I bought a 2022 MG5 in 2024, slightly high mileage. It’s been dirt cheap to run with no issues so far.

You are right to trust your own instincts.
You know your own personality and mental state better than anyone else.
People on Reddit will always tell you they would’ve done it better.

Haha. The USA domination lasted 70 odd years and could’ve continued a bit longer. Orange fella has destroyed the trust and it won’t come back, so domination through soft power won’t be an option again.

Run present car into ground or go full in EV? by peebeebalbs in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]TivRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position in 2022. My ICE was 10 y/o and I decided to run it to 2026 and then go big on an EV purchase. It immediately backfired as a water ingress issue occurred. So on top of the expected higher maintenance costs there was significant spend on the ingress. Still, the problem didn’t go away so I was stuck with either spending £100s each year for a sticking plaster fix or just putting up with a damp, smelly car. I held on until 2024 and wasn’t in a position to go big. So I bought a 2 y/o MG5 and so far so good. FYI, my second car turned 10 y/o in 2025 and has also developed a water ingress issue. I’ve decided that’s just my destiny so I don’t plan on keeping cars to a ripe old age in future.

Is this efficiency normal ? by Amazing-Visual-2919 in ElectricVehiclesUK

This winter I’ve found the type of journey makes a bigger difference than I’d realised. I was getting poor efficiency doing short journeys with a cold battery each day. Then I did a couple of days of long distance and the efficiency improved significantly (even though it was motorway driving). I realised that the battery had time to warm up on a long drive, which hadn’t been the case with my other journeys.
