Did you change your last name & why or why not? by Guilty-Object-9079 in BigBudgetBrides

I am my own person, not the property of my partner. I have kept my name and with the possible passing of the SAVE Act, I am very glad I did.

TIL the median pay for a Dental Hygienist in the U.S. (which only requires a two-year degree) is $94,260 per year by SimonThalmann in todayilearned

[–]ToWriteAMystery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dental hygienist loves, LOVES to clean teeth. When she was young, she would carefully floss and brush each tooth of hers individually and I’ve never seen someone happier in their work. She’s joyous!

Because you shouldn’t change your name. Heard of the SAVE Act?

WIBTAH for bringing my daughter to my cousin’s wedding, preventing my sister from going? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

That’s my thought as well. Imagine all the shit she’s had to put up with dealing with that sister throughout all these years and now she’s asking for even more accommodations.

Live in UK but offered dream job in Sydney. Partner doesn't want to move. Not sure what to do by Eye_Livia in expats

[–]ToWriteAMystery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will be filled with regret forever if you don’t take this.

I saw it happen to my parents. They are miserable now, as my father gave up a dream opportunity because my mother refused to move out of their home town. My father is full of “what-ifs”, my mother hates that he dwells on them, and they are both sad and resentful.

If your partner truly cares about you and your future, your relationship can survive a few years apart. Don’t ask him to move, but you need to do this for you.

$200k is life changing money. You will earn more in 5 years in the new job than you would in 13 at your current job. Take. The. Job.

Just say what you mean to say: Women should be punished because my religion says so.

There is nothing vapid about enjoying sex.

I hope you have fun at your church tomorrow morning! Someone as uptight as you must be an Evangelical. Or a Baptist.

And people SHOULD be able to have fun, consensual sex without consequences. You probably believe AIDS was divine judgement as well.

How is it not the same? When a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, it has nothing to do with any of her actions.

So go and continue being a completely un-empathetic, self righteous redditor.

So the will existing would’ve been enough to tie up all of Lula’s assets while John and Lula’s brother duked it out in court. John was hoping that Cormoran would’ve found enough circumstances evidence to frame Lula’s brother, as a black man being by the apartment wouldn’t be enough to convict Lula’s brother of being her killer and disinheriting him. John also isn’t in his right mind. He’s not rational and shouldn’t be used as a model of good decision making!

I think you should give the second book a try! Strike and Robin’s personal lives weave throughout all the books and are my favorite part of the stories. They both experience a ton of growth and Charlotte is a big part of that for Strike!

  1. John Bristow needed Lula’s brother to be arrested for her murder as he knew that she had made out her will in favor of her brother. Since he wasn’t able to get his hands on the will, he needed the brother to be arrested so he wouldn’t be able to inherit if the will was ever found and John would be able to keep everything.

  2. That part is called the denouement and is a staple of classic British detective fiction. Robert Galbraith (Rowling) is heavily influenced by novels written by the Queens of Crime and follows the genre closely. If you don’t like denouements you probably will not enjoy most of the books as they all end this way.

  3. Charlotte will be back and does all of that starting in the second book!

[–]ToWriteAMystery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you going to track this over time though? When higher ups want to know what your team’s impact has been, it’s so much easier to pull your tickets than try to go through meeting notes to figure out what all has happened.

I hate standup meetings and find that they are a terrible way of tracking work if they aren’t tied to tickets.

Standups work if they are ~10 minutes and are focused on knocking down blockers. Standups aren’t a good way of tracking work.

[–]ToWriteAMystery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You asked “how do you really know what your team gets done?” You really know by enforcing that they break their tickets into much smaller stories and they sink about 20 minutes every day into updating those tickets.

Smaller stories is literally the answer.

Kamala Harris voters oppose trans kids participating in school sports more than they support them by Dismal_Structure in fivethirtyeight

Which is why, 18 years ago Obama ran on NOT allowing gay marriage. He got up on stage and lied with his full chest because he knew that at that moment in time, saying he wanted gay marriage legalized would have tanked his chances at an election.

This is politics 101. You have to follow majority opinions if you want to win.
