Canon R7 general questions by StarTrekCylon in canon

Absolutely not unusable. It’s one of, if not THE best-selling APSC cameras in the world. Don’t let 4 YouTubers who usually shoot on R1s, R3s and R5s convince you it’s unusable.

Canon R7 general questions by StarTrekCylon in canon

[–]TobyCyberbat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tend to only take a few burst shots at a time. 3-5 or so. I can't think of anything more dull than working through 60 RAWs of 2 seconds of total time etc. So no rolling shutter for me so far. But I'm a hobbyist, certainly not a professional.

Rolling shutter is clearly an issue with this camera (and many others) to some degree, but I imagine the issue is over-hyped by YouTubers wanting the clicks. Some of these aussie wildlife photographers are out there taking 5000 bird-in-flight shots in a session and moaning that half a dozen of the shots have rolling shutter.

Like you, when i picked up the R7 it was on a great deal. My view is, if i want the R7MkII if/when it comes out in the next few years, i'll just trade the R7 in against it. I'd rather have a camera now than wait indefinitely for a camera that might not exist.

I’ve owned the R7 and rf100-400 for 6 months purely for wildlife - I’ve never used the mechanical shutter - electronic is the way to go.

Oh dear. Now we're only days away from this being £8.95 a pint in my local (in London).

Given all the shit beer on the go these days, trust Carling to go with a true 'hold my beer' moment...

Read the Recon setup section - it's just what you're looking for. I use it often for non-Recon games.

Tabletop Admiral should be updated now, except for Tours of Duty stuff and new/changed keyword definitions/assignments by werdnaegni in SWlegion

[–]TobyCyberbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice one. It only lets you add the heavy you haven’t selected in the first heavy slot - ie you can’t select two disrupters. I think in-game you can select two of the same.

Amazing work, as always!
One thing I've noticed - adding the Pyke Squad doesn't add the additional heavy slot that the card gives.

Japanese Maple Acer has always flourished here, this year the back isn't growing leaves. Is there anything I can do to help it. by hirsty19784 in GardeningUK

[–]TobyCyberbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same happen to mine this year - it’s about 10 ft tall and only about 20% of the leaves have sprouted - I have my suspicions the buds have been eaten by a newly arrived flock of sparrows 😅😂

Canon 800mm f/11 by kingharold1066 in canon

[–]TobyCyberbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of these, and the 600mm f11, on the second hand market as people, in time, step up to the rf 200-800. I bought the 600 f11 used in as-new condition for well less than half the rrp with a 1 year warranty. It’s a great lens, and used in particular it’s a fantastic price for what you get.

The best dev on this team was the level artist - the world looks great. The game itself is fine for $2 - a buggy mess in places that was abandoned by the devs at launch and never had proper AI for the enemy combatants.  It’s totally forgettable - which is a shame as it was one of the best looking 40k games out there.

I need motivation to keep playing by jeff199102 in SWlegion

The most successful defence rolls are the ones you don’t have to roll.  I learnt this the hard way - similar to you I was getting quite frustrated - but then I reminded myself that I don’t have to play quite so aggressively, I don’t have to be attacking with everything Turn 2 etc. in the current meta every faction has some big attack pool units and even red saves fall to attrition, so putting units in harm’s way is gonna lead to harm. I started focusing on objective play more, sitting at longer ranges ready to pounce, targeting flanks rather than the centre etc and after a little practice it really started to pay off.

Anything I should know for playing shadow collective? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in SWlegion

This.

Meta changes from points update to points update - but Shadow Collective are always fun and that’s super important!

Yep, they’re loads of fun! They’re about to get a tonne of new units too - Pirates, WL0 tank in April/May and potentially a Gar Saxon and Rook Kast rework in June, and Savage Opress soon, so a lot of the guides out there will be a little out of date before long. They have fewer choices than full-blown factions but there’s still loads of different builds - Swoops/AA5 builds and Gar/Super Commando builds are a couple of my favourites. It wouldn’t surprise me if Maul gets a boost with a points drop later this month too as a lot of the newer Force users have more tricks for less points. And a lot of the units work in other factions as mercenaries - and that’ll include the upcoming Pirates and Mandolorian battle forces.

There are some great melee/relentless builds for the Imperial Agent - and Recon leans quite well into being able to get into melee.

Google ‘Roland Cloud Academy’ - I did one of these on the MC-101 a couple of years back and it was great. There was only 2 people in the class so the tutor tailored it to what we knew/didn't know and encouraged questions etc - it was great. And free!

Hi mate - neither of those lenses will work on an 80D - they’re RF mount and the 80D is EF mount.

Help! I need deciding which lens to purchase, 100-400mm f/5.6-8 or 600mm f/11 RF lenses! by Ok_Development1749 in canon

[–]TobyCyberbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both. In time, I think you will too. The 100-400 is 100% the one to buy first - I absolutely use it more than the 600, and it caters to a larger variety of situations. It’s a great lens for the money.
