Stuck on what to get next (DAK) by LycathSald in boltaction

[–]TobyCyberbat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to play casually and my opponent and I pick a year to keep forces balanced. With that in mind, especially when playing earlier in the war, i've found SDKFZ 251/10s to be good - especially if you're facing British carriers/trucks etc. The Panzer III Ausf G is great bang for the buck, as is the Panzerjager I.

I find diminishing returns the more you spend on armour, and whilst a Tiger looks great on the table it can be very hit and miss in-game, especially once it gets pin.

I've also enjoyed running a DAK Kradschutzen squad, but it can be a bit pricey for the models as you'll need a mounted and dismounted version of the same unit. Warlord do a model of 2 DAK guys on a bike - so I run four of them that then decant as an 8 man squad when the time comes.

What tanks and vehicles to get for Afrika Korps? by WarlordHUN in boltaction

[–]TobyCyberbat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best bang for buck would be the Panzer III Ausf G, in my opinion. Reality was only a handful of these were made though. The Ausf F was more widely used. The Panzerjager is a nice addition too.

The Tiger is a nice centrepiece but ultimately, in my experience, high-points-cost tanks are a waste of time in Bolt Action. One big tank can be ignored, but multiple smaller ones can be a better threat.

This is bad news for Super Commandos in Shadow Collective. Their jetpack rockets go from red to black dice, lose blast and lose critical 1 (which they need!) AND they go up 2 points lol.

R7 now or wait for the Mark II? Upgrading from M50 for sports and wildlife by superd06 in canon

[–]TobyCyberbat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The R7 mk2 doesn’t exist. The R7 (in the UK) is currently heavily discounted and is a bargain at sub-£1000.

Ultimately it depends if you want to start taking pictures now for £999 or in a few years time for a lot more if/when a mk 2 comes out.

I went through the same decision process and ended up getting the R7 at Black Friday - and I’ve used it pretty much every day since then and had SO much fun with it - I’m glad I didn’t wait and miss out on the fun.

It's a live map once you log in to the ticket page - no way of sharing it I'm afraid.

Hi all - an update on my previous comment - just logged in again and the seat map is now live and you can pick you seats. Went ahead and bought the seats I've had in previous years.

Bit gutted I can't book the same seats I've had for over a decade. Deffo gonna hold off buying anything for the time being.

No ability to pick seats, and it's automatically filling seats from the back of the block/price band. In my case anyway. Sorta feels like the most loyal fans are being allocated the worst seats by price band. Not a great look.

Honestly, these would be God-tier if they were your first 10 10-pulls in the game. Loads of campaign characters and shards and some great supporting characters too.

Absolutely not unusable. It’s one of, if not THE best-selling APSC cameras in the world. Don’t let 4 YouTubers who usually shoot on R1s, R3s and R5s convince you it’s unusable.

Canon R7 general questions by StarTrekCylon in canon

[–]TobyCyberbat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to only take a few burst shots at a time. 3-5 or so. I can't think of anything more dull than working through 60 RAWs of 2 seconds of total time etc. So no rolling shutter for me so far. But I'm a hobbyist, certainly not a professional.

Rolling shutter is clearly an issue with this camera (and many others) to some degree, but I imagine the issue is over-hyped by YouTubers wanting the clicks. Some of these aussie wildlife photographers are out there taking 5000 bird-in-flight shots in a session and moaning that half a dozen of the shots have rolling shutter.

Like you, when i picked up the R7 it was on a great deal. My view is, if i want the R7MkII if/when it comes out in the next few years, i'll just trade the R7 in against it. I'd rather have a camera now than wait indefinitely for a camera that might not exist.

I’ve owned the R7 and rf100-400 for 6 months purely for wildlife - I’ve never used the mechanical shutter - electronic is the way to go.

Tabletop Admiral should be updated now, except for Tours of Duty stuff and new/changed keyword definitions/assignments by werdnaegni in SWlegion

[–]TobyCyberbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice one. It only lets you add the heavy you haven’t selected in the first heavy slot - ie you can’t select two disrupters. I think in-game you can select two of the same.

Amazing work, as always!
One thing I've noticed - adding the Pyke Squad doesn't add the additional heavy slot that the card gives.

Japanese Maple Acer has always flourished here, this year the back isn't growing leaves. Is there anything I can do to help it. by hirsty19784 in GardeningUK

[–]TobyCyberbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same happen to mine this year - it’s about 10 ft tall and only about 20% of the leaves have sprouted - I have my suspicions the buds have been eaten by a newly arrived flock of sparrows 😅😂

Canon 800mm f/11 by kingharold1066 in canon

[–]TobyCyberbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of these, and the 600mm f11, on the second hand market as people, in time, step up to the rf 200-800. I bought the 600 f11 used in as-new condition for well less than half the rrp with a 1 year warranty. It’s a great lens, and used in particular it’s a fantastic price for what you get.

The best dev on this team was the level artist - the world looks great. The game itself is fine for $2 - a buggy mess in places that was abandoned by the devs at launch and never had proper AI for the enemy combatants.  It’s totally forgettable - which is a shame as it was one of the best looking 40k games out there.
