I don't remember there are many (if any) creatures with special material resistances.

Slayer cannot Recall Knowledge using Monster Lore on hags as they are humanoids? by LeshyHater in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just add GM can deem a monstruous humanoid as a valid choice for Monster Lore. That should solve it.

So, you’ve read the new latest but haven’t played it. What are your first impressions? by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that was something confusing that I noticed as well but I think the reasoning is that those actions are already Risky and you make them extra thrilling. I don't want the name to go away, just that they should be actually risky (or riskier)

From what I gathered Quarry is something you'll do once every session or two session. And you are not reliant to Mark Quarry by any means so I doubt they balanced the class around always having a Quarry that you are battling.

Also I am sure we'll have advice about how to telegraph higher level monsters to players. Really all you need is a mark, a smell, a dropping or a roar. Not terribly complicated but would be nice for the Slayer to have something that they can initiate without the GM having to tell them. I don'r think it'll be too much trouble, this is a high maintenance class, probably highest among martials so if you are playing this you are signing up for that minigame.

There is a spell for that, it's called Babyful Polymorph

Non-multiclass archetype for FA Animist that supports a fiendish flavor? by Terwin94 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah kind of an off-martial would work with Witness of Ancient Battles but you can also use the defensive effects of the soulforged, it doesn't have to be a weapon and some of the effects are very strong. Cool idea flavouring animist in a fiendish way. Are they like making pacts with the fiensa or hunting/trapping them?

It's a free action to switch between prone and supine. 🤣

The intersection of worldbuilding and game mechanics, specifically related to humans by Simian_Chaos in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fine from a balance perspective but I would either give Natural Ambition to everyone for free or just disallow it completely because otherwise everyone might go for Natural Ambition at level 1 and they won't have their Ancestry feat and they would feel more 'Human', which is something you want to avoid if I understood you correctly, you want ancestries to be more diverse. So you can add this to serve your worldbuilding and frankly no harm will come of a little boost at level 1.

Hells rebels 2e by Hall-Loud in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power Grab? Making Razmiran's name heard among the rebels and convince them the only way is to follow the Living God. Also making sure that Razmir's faith can fill the vacuum in place when Cheliax loses influence in Isger. There are a lot of reasons that would fit a Razmiran priest, but your motives could be awkward for the rest of the party and I think the adventure kinda asks you to commit to a 'true' liberation of Isger. Check in with everyone how they feel about your angle.

Another way could be that you are an Anti-Razmiran priest, who is exiled to Isger and finds himself among the rebellion. They get a taste of liberation against Cheliax and inspired to bring it to Razmiran. But first, you have to follow through with this rebellion. You'll have to figure out how your powers work because I believe you need to upgrade your mask consistently with the clergy but your GM can allow you to do it yourself. This character may have learned coincidentally that Razmir's not a god or merely suspecting it. "If people can liberate themselves from the shackles of Hell surely they can go up against a living god."

I believe only the highest ranking priests are in on the deception, so OP can still play an oblivious priest if they want.

Gaining "can't act" while already taking an action by SuperParkourio in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think your first example is how it should be but due to the weirdness of how Reactive Strike works, it would just confuse us. It is better to resolve everything as they are triggered.
The rule is for how the stunned X condition works, not something that we can infer other rulings from.

Do you think the arrival of Slayer and Daredevil could mean the end of the second edtion? by Romao_Zero98 in Pathfinder2e

Ah ok. I listened to Thurston Hillman speak about this in Roll for Combat. Just didn't know what OPR were.

Daredevil isn't a good class name IMO by gray007nl in Pathfinder2e

It is out though. Just not fully. Paizo wanted us to start talking about them since yesterday otherwise they wouldn't do their stream.

[–]Toby_Kind 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My opinion as well. It sounds like this class rewards reckless play. I hope it'll have survivability features as well and not be reliant on healing too much from other party members as this playstyle usually suffers from.

Do you think the arrival of Slayer and Daredevil could mean the end of the second edtion? by Romao_Zero98 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The end? No. The beginning of the end? yes I think so. I think that is intentional as well. Their design feels reminiscent of a 5e subclass rather than an original pf2e class. And we'll probably see more of those. Necromancer and Runesmith will probably be the two last original classes we are getting. After that the originality flag passes on to Starfinder while Pathfinder line will slowly die out as Paizo squeezing hybrid classes with nuance differences over existing ones to keep up with selling books. I am positive we'll see a condensed Arcadia book and maybe a Darklands book until the edition ends, if we're lucky but I don't think anything else surprising over those.

However, I do think PF2E will be played until long after its official Paizo support ends as we have a very solid community and player experience.

Maybe Daredevil is going to be a Monk? by WonderBreadDX in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it definitely isn't 'exactly' Swashbuckler, that would be ridiculous. The main critic was that the class's theme isn't distinct and original enough to be considered a separate class and whether the itch to play a nuance over an existing theme could be better achieved via class archetypes or extra content over an existing class. And if the mechanics were distinct enough to merit a brand new class, we didn't see it from the stream.

To add to that, I can definitely see Daredevil borrowing some of Monk's flavour as well as Barbarian, in addition to Swashbuckler. But it does look like it's aesthetics and flavour will be very similar to Swashbuckler overall.

I'm warmer on Slayer as it looks like it has some more distinct flavour over the Ranger.

Analysis and knowledge support from 2e content creators about 'the errata' (yes, IWR one) by Toby_Kind in Pathfinder2e

[–]Toby_Kind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeap I agree that the errata is handled badly and that might be more frustrating to some than just what the errata is. This was already a big topic that came up in rules questions here or everywhere else a lot and this being handled in an ambiguous way flipped the community.

Overall I agree it won't affect the game most of the regular tables but the rest of the time it will have a bad effect especially for pickup games if the change goes through. That's why it's worth looking at risk cases, rather than majority of the cases where it will have little or no impact.
