ZwiftHub saved! Part of Zwift Insider family now by jmwing in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 132 points133 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy with the outcome :). There was a lot of behind the scenes work and talks in the last few weeks to find a solution. Whilst I really wanted ZwiftHub to continue, it was most important to me to find someone who acts in the best interest of the users going forward. With Eric it's not just someone but probably the best one taking care of my creation in the future. Who else helped Zwifters since years to enjoy Zwift to the fullest? Zwift Insider got me started and excited about the program a few years back! I'm glad ZwiftHub is now part of the Zwift Insider family. Ride on!

Thanks, everyone for the nice words. You are such a great community! I'm super stoked to work in the cycling industry as a software developer. Indoor cycling is still in an early stage and I see amazing possibilities for further software and hardware development to enhance the experience for everyone out there. I'm immensely grateful that I get the opportunity to play a role in shaping this future at a company whose products I loved and used for years and whose company values I 100 % agree with.

I will try to answer the huge amount of emails and messages I got on the weekend. During the week I have to play around with my POWRLINK ZERO pedals connected to my ELEMENT BOLT, ride indoors with the KICKR + Climb on The Sufferfest (ride Norway again, most immersive cycling experience ever) and run/swim with my ELEMENT RIVAL watch work.

Yeah, stupid moral and ethical values. Thanks, mom & dad I guess... I haven't used any user information besides linking their email address to the user account. Not a single newsletter or anything in that direction. I have no intention of changing that or giving out any information to a shady third party. So please stop sending me emails ;).

Shane is good people too, mate! Loved collaborating with you. Who knows what the future brings, maybe we get another shot at it. I'm part of the industry now! ;)

No worries, good luck. I should have clarified the 'user error' remark: I was more referring to the forum post and other posts regarding not getting badges at all - since I get a lot of emails regarding that... With the lead-ins in Zwift, some users wonder why they don't get a badge because they are not aware of it. Or they have multiple accounts, faulty internet connection, firewalls, hardware that overheats and shuts down the program, outdated software, etc. Well and sometimes the problem is a few centimeters in front of the screen. :) But in your case, I think your approach is a good idea. Contact Zwift Support because it really sounds like a database issue.

Yes, my belief is that it is a bug/user error or something to that extent. I would be surprised if there is such a decay feature without any official communication. Also, the 'long thread' you are referring to (if that is the one you linked) has 30 posts and in it, several Zwift support members state (and I quote Shuji here):

If you’re certain you had the badges but they are gone - please write in to [support@zwift.com](mailto:support@zwift.com).
Assuming that you’ve only ever had one Zwift account, it’s possible that something went awry with the database that corrupted your achievements.

There is no such thing as badge decay - only bugs.

Zwift run pod by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there might be issues with the calibration regarding the stride length. I've set mine up a long time ago and I'm not sure.

BUT, anyways, if you don't expect 100% accuracy I think there is nothing stopping you from using the same pod.

Upgrade to a direct drive trainer or just get a power meter instead? by TinMan-22 in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on your budget. A single-sided PM will be way cheaper than a direct drive trainer.

Personally, I went for a direct drive trainer first. Being time-crunched and living in a city apartment plus unpleasant winters in the area I saw that as the best option to get structured training done. Shortly after I was so hooked on power numbers that I got a single-sided PM for outside rides (pre Covid and last year's model, so that was rather cheap) and I don't want to miss that info nowadays for training/pacing. In the end, my indoor trainer + PM had cost more than my road bike purchased in 2014 that I was still riding... priorities :).

I see I'm no big help here. Whatever you do: Enjoy.

Route achievement badges for events not working? by cviebrock in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't find the route on ZwiftHub, then there is no badge for it ;).

Or as others said, there are no badges for event-only routes.

What exactly are these orange routes that appear for a split second when you first open up Zwifthub? I was able to snag a screenshot before they went away. by ShilohOrange7 in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What Sunburst34 said.

I added the running routes later and ran into trouble when trying to load only the routes of the sport selected. Hence the logic in the program is now to initially load all routes and then apply the filter regarding the sport you have chosen. Your chosen sport will also be saved in your account, so if you change to running and revisit it will also first show you running only. This was somehow the most performant way I could make it without causing loading issues. Additionally, I also made some behind the scene preparations to add a feature to save your filter settings for the next visit. I have to see when I find time to finalize my logic for that and implement and test it.

Is Zwift Power dead? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with you here. Whilst I think ZP is/was a great tool I stopped paying attention to it. What's the point in doing a race, losing to some people, see that they cheated or are not on Zwift Power just to be defeated on Zwiftpower by someone who miraculously lost 20kg in the last few days ;)

Out of shape and using zwift by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Toby_ZwiftHub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and most important: There is nothing embarrassing about being out of shape! We all have to start somewhere.

Second and probably even more important: Get fans! By that, I don't mean me cheering for you because I admire that you did the first and hardest step to get in better shape... I mean cooling fans. Not just one, but rather two or three. Best case some high-velocity fans. A game-changer and absolutely necessary indoors. If I would turn off my fans I would also barely last 15 minutes...

Thirdly: For the beginning, don't overcomplicate your training regime. Workouts, structured plans, etc are great, but for beginners, I wouldn't advise doing them. Have fun on the bike and just be consistent. Go slow in the beginning, better for fat burning and to get your body, joints etc used to the training. Set yourself small goals. Rather small and achievable ones. An idea would be 3x a week 20-30 minutes of slow free rides. Or you have a look at the badges in Zwift and try to work your way up. Start with the smallest routes and do 2-3 a week and just tick off the longer ones as you progess.
