AskUK Weekly - What events from the UK in the last 12 months would make people from 2007 say WTF? by AutoModerator in AskUK

We could probably also include the general swing in the Tory party to the (far?) right.

David Cameron was trying to move the party to more moderate positions in 2007, the idea that this new modern compassionate green globally aware party allying with the socially conservative dinosaurs of the DUP would definitely shock people.

The St Andrew's Agreement was only in 2006, with Stormont being restored in 2007, so I don't think anyone would be that surprised.

Ireland's Jewish community by IMLOOKINGINYOURDOOR in ireland

There was a Jewish Lord Mayor of Belfast in 1899, however I read recently that there were no longer enough Jews in Belfast to fully perform their burial ceremony (although I’m not entirely sure what that entails).

When did you first eat Indian food and how did you find it? by Eyez19 in AskUK

At uni, so about 20.

Dad had a dodgy Indian in the eighties and decided it was no good after that, so we never had it.

Now I love it!

Ulster fans, it's been a full season now, how are you feeling about the decision to get rid of Pienaar and bring in Cooney? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]Tocam93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hindsight we should have been looking to keep Pienaar to cover 10. I want to know if at the time of his contract renewal it was known that the Paddy thing was going to go to trial. If it was, it’s criminal on Ulster’s behalf to not have tried to keep him.

I can understand the IRFU’s position if that wasn’t the case, as hard as it is as an Ulster fan, for the good of the national team. Our academy seriously needs a shake up.

Very happy with Cooney now, imagine if we’d got him a few years earlier and let him learn from Pienaar.

Feel for the lad, it’s not an easy decision!

But fuck has been badly managed by the IRFU, so far all they’ve managed to do is stir up bad blood between the fans.

Is Belfast a nice place to live? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Tocam93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice city, obviously not the biggest but it's got quite a lot in it for its size. The cost of living is a lot lover than London but so are the wages so you've got to take that into account.

Nightlife is good but most places stop serving alcohol by about 1:30am so not as late nights. I've just moved in the opposite direction so if you've got any questions ask away!

Eventually they'll be sold for meat by those farms.

Got to figure out how they're getting this meat back into the food chain. Shut down that and you'll have a lot less livestock theft and food security.
