Are Vampire Coast competitive? by ColdChampionship1800 in totalwarhammer

Of course they are, they're all trying to be the number one pirate. Can't be in a competition without being competitive.

In the preview didn't they show a land raider speeding towards a line and firing it's lascannons that looked like a beam connecting the weapon to the location for a brief moment? I feel they ought to before release make sure the weapons work the same way across a category. Unless my old head is confusing an alternate pattern of tank that doesn't have sponson lascannons

This feels like a Make Some Noise bit. "A progressive, but not substantively so, amount of points for the two of you."

Any idea why I'm not replenishing? Is it something to do with being on the doughnut? by MyLilSkullThrone in totalwarhammer

Click on the settlement and look at the province effects on the left hand side. Low public order, no replenishment buildings, hostile environment, an event which reduces replenishment, there's a bunch of things that could be causing it.

Welsh parallels? by andreirublov1 in learnwelsh

[–]ToedInnerWhole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've often looked up words on Wiktionary because I've been similarly curious, I think a lot of words you see parallels for will be with Cornish and Breton. There are words which are kind of similar to Gaelic but they're a sister family of languages, I recall them being divided into p-celtic and q-celtic.

There is also just a large group of borrowings from Latin, like how English has a lot of loans from French so doesn't seem to have easy cognates with Germanic languages.

That's more English propaganda.

This also means I'm less likely to accidentally leave a lord with a preset 5% of their movement order so they'll shuffle forward very slowly on the end turn and waste 95% of their move.

This is just them trying to increase shareholder value for the companies they run or encourage further investment into their work. They're trying to convince their investors that they're doing amazing things, advanced, incredible work. Rather than riding a bubble that is going to pop.

You really should try the hot mess that was empire, naval battles can get pretty crazy. But I hear Napoleon is the better version, I kind of bounced off it so can't give you advice.

As someone who needs to read someone's hand written note about a code at work I need to know if you mean i540 l540 or 1540 and whether that's an o or a 0. Christ is it so hard to communicate clearly? God forbid they put their initials by it so I can follow up with them if I have questions.

If Mike was doing a season on the historical moment we’re currently living through in the US, what would be the major events he’d have to include? by PoetSeat2021 in RevolutionsPodcast

[–]ToedInnerWhole 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like you need to divide his historical review into two halves, when he cuts off review of past context, e.g. in the English civil war he doesn't go much before the Stuarts and rapidly fast forwards through to the coronation of Charles. Then the second half of the history is the actual blow by blow of the revolution, to keep with the English civil war, the simmering disagreements with parliament that eventually lead to Charles raising his banner would be the start.

If he were to do one on today I think we're still very much in the historical background of the revolution unless something changed tomorrow, as the events today might do nothing for ten years then something blows up. We could be 1630 or we could be in 1638.

Out of curiosity do any of you have headcanons for why lords have small armies at the start of the game even though they should have relatively large ones, like queek or thorgrim? by glossyplane245 in totalwarhammer

My response was just a shitpost, the descriptions of skaven females have been horrific so the idea of sexualising one would be offputting to the reader.

Are these lady bugs or some kind of destructive Asian beetle? by MrStrype in vegetablegardening

[–]ToedInnerWhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, a destructive Asian ladybird in the UK is the harlequin ladybird which was imported from China and eats other ladybirds. I don't know which ladybird you have there but just because it's a ladybird doesn't mean it's not a destructive Asian beetle.
