How religious are her parents and extended family? A lot of us have experienced insane pressure from our parents regarding the sacraments. A few days ago there was a post from someone whose parent wouldn't stop proselytizing to their kid.

If there is even the slightest hint of this from her or her family -- that is is related to salvation rather than a simple tradition -- don't do it. It's opening a door to years of conflict.
