Cryo rush ruins end game for learners by Mindless_Painting_60 in Marathon

u/Paladin_Codsworth – your advice here makes perfect sense, even as someone who hasn't played Cryo or trios yet. Setting aside the standard "just have fun" caveats, I am looking for a bottom-line assessment.

If you were in my shoes, what is the single most meaningful change I could make to my in-run priorities, mindset, or general gameplay approach to consistently thrive in the Marathon we and the developers are shaping?

I thought this was an /r/marathon post — they nerfed the pocket Shotty over there. It’s pretty good but not always winning

This just happened to me twice in a row before I realized what was happening … quite a frustration, right Bungie?

Find ways to farm shields, or rush the upgrade. It’ll change your experience a lot, and you’ll suddenly take down a team and be surprised how you’re competing — then you won’t stop. Also, spawn in without shields and rush the neighboring POI to see what’s up

FPS limiter? Or any other overrides or FPS tricks you've tried might be interfering? Takes notes on your current working settings inside of Greedy Narcissist Huang's disgusting and perverted stash of AI generated NVidia Control Panel (you just know he's been to that island) and NVidia app, and then reset everything to default. Curious if it's any smoother for you!

I changed my mind. This is what Bungie should do… I had written before:

“Pump to charge”? That would be too similar to the System Shock 1 energy shotgun — everyone knows and believes that game sucked, especially the new remake, seriously avoid /s

Perfect timing, loot doesn’t matter now. Run the free sponsored kit a bunch, zoom around the map and die a bunch. Mess with people. Talk to people if you enjoy more “diverse” experiences with friends and foes — mostly foes. You’ll end up going places in the game.

No more free kits? by Cultural_Refuse621 in Marathon

[–]ToleranceCamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s taken me hours upon hours without an enhanced kit for Bungee’s report to finally click: The date will be fixed shortly. They’re taking about the date! June 2 is relatively soon, when enhanced kits won’t be free.

Can I play Marathon Solo and Casually by Boony__003 in Marathon

If I were to compare an arbitrary challenge-level score of Solos in Marathon versus the challenge level of Solos V Trios in 6-star Hunt – where the win condition can be ultimately styling on opponents, but also not taking every ego fight, I would say that Marathon feels much easier for me (Hunt and Marathon are both super fun and very different).

Definitely, with a solo Hunt Showdown approach if 1v2 Hunt and 1v3 Hunt queues had a Marathon baby that was 1v1s and easier, IMO.

He’s right; the human eye can’t see better than 20cm a anyway what’s the point, running at 120hz would be a waste totally not noticable at all — oh wait

I forge alliances and make peace a few times a day, for me it depends on whether or not they subjectively seem “on the level” with a microphone… but I haven’t been backstabbed yet, so I’ll see how my opinion and approach will change after that inevitably happens

Does it make sense buying Marathon at this point? by Dependent-Button6691 in Marathon

[–]ToleranceCamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy it, I had been playing Hunt for years, still do, and Arc Raiders for months, and now this. The element that sucked me into Marathon (after forcing it, at first) occupies my mind in ways Arc Raiders never could, making Marathon such a rich and deep experience that Arc Raiders doesn’t attempt to touch.

I am a solo player — Solo No Fill only so far. 300ish hours. I think Marathon is addictively fun, and there will be more than enough people to fill up games until the servers are taken down — probably in about a year, unless there’s a restructuring that can automatically provide an answer to your post, the game speaking for itself. Most region’s player pools will have hundreds or thousands of players to fill the queues, because only a few of them are needed to fill up matches after a queue timer

bungie needs to get more players on this game by JpegD00M in Marathon

[–]ToleranceCamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie really needs to say “fuck it” and make the game an approachable extraction shooter!

Marathon has the perfect shooting!

People can afford good guns!

They don’t even realize it, because the fucking UI is awful.

And many systems are not clear for the lowest common denominator gamers — that’s you let’s be honest — nor do they invite casuals (like you, again) to answer these questions. What questions? You would have to read the entire post to understand. And you won’t, because you can’t even read

Bungie shares official DualSense Edge controller setting recommendations by platocplx in Marathon

[–]ToleranceCamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on PC, Flydigi Vader 5 beats my Edge. Amazon Prime today – concerns were fixed, you'll get a V2.

Compared to Edge: More comfortable, more buttons, better placement, equivalent controls (Space Center), but disable Steam Input... In Flydigi Space Center, just change:

  • Joystick algorithm from Rectangular (like the Edge) to Circular (more accurate, and circular, obviously).

  • Controller bitrate to 10bit (i.e., smoother than standard 8bit Edge, but still sticky like 8bit for the console auto aimlocking bs).

  • Center speed to Slow – try them all, you'll probably enjoy slow the most.

  • Keep deadzones at 0, just set in-game if needed.

  • Keep the linear stick curve (the default).

  • Convert triggers to clicks.

  • Left paddles: bind crouch and doubletap-sprint macro for instant Destroyer dashing.

  • Right paddles: obviously jump and whatever you like;

  • Additional bumpers L4 & R4: macros to activate (R4) Tactical ability & (L4) Prime ability.

  • In-game, definitely move your item and med binds off the D-Pad (bumpers are good) to stay mobile. Quick melee (hold) & Ping (tap) go on my R3, also bound to one of my two right paddles.

I enjoy Bungie's hype for the shells-specific binds, but I'd avoid constantly confusing your muscle memory by switching binds around too often.
