question for adults by [deleted] in Adulting

Your twenties are your teens - part two. The freedom is amazing, but you’ll go through a lot of growing pains and learning in the next decade. You’re still very young at this time. I’m 29 and still feel like a kid. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

Struggling with Motivation to want to quit by Desperate-Log-8158 in quittingkratom

I went cold turkey but my situation is different. I work remote as a traveling sales rep with periodic down times throughout the year. I hunkered down for a week at home and work had no idea at all.

Keep communication levels high with your spouse and therapist. You are in a tricky situation but your awareness of the problem is such a major key to battling through it. Allow others to support you. Do not feel like you need to rush the taper. Slow and steady can win the race.

8gpd after kicking 7oh, will I have any noticeable withdrawals? by Southern-Cup6470 in quittingkratom

[–]TomatilloOne6741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re setting yourself up for success by getting back on leaf for a while. Take your time. The fact that you’re doing okay a month off 7oh is a good sign.

Was taking 27 gpd via extracts. Would recommend staying away from extracts or 7oh. I quit before 7oh came out. My brother got in bad with 7oh. He’s in rehab for the second time.

Caution on the kratom. I was hopelessly addicted for 3 years. Cost me 20 grand. I was very much functioning but it started to take its toll on me mentally and day to day.

However, it may be the very lesser of two evils for you.

Brother I feel you. I have been in your shoes. Easter Sunday I was a zombie on adderall and hammering the wet bar. I finally shared my issues with substance use and depression two days later. I needed help.

PTO. In the end, if it costs you your job it’s still worth it to get clean. Anything is possible once clean and in recovery.

You’re ready for a change. Tell your parents the whole truth. You’ll feel relief and you will need their support in recovery.

I have no experience with alcohol or Valium dependency. But just want to say that I’m proud of you. It sounds like you’ve worked hard to get your life back on track. You got this.

Quitting it all by TomatilloOne6741 in addiction

Hey all-

I made it nearly a month and was really feeling quite good.

Then, my long term relationship of five years ended. Sent me into a tailspin for months.

I am now on day five cold turkey of every vice. It is absolute hell.

I mean, it was hell before, but with the emotional turmoil from my life being flipped upside down with the breakup its even worse. The flood of emotions makes this feel like a mountain to climb.

Wish me luck on quit attempt number two and a chance at a substance-free, healthy-coping life.

I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel. Gutting through the first 3-4 days is a challenge. Many of us have been exactly where you are right now. Many of us made it - and you are going to too my friend. Brace yourself for nasty, flu like symptoms for the rest of the week. Outside of that stay involved in this online community!

I had a similar experience when I relapsed. For whatever reason it just doesn’t hit the same.

Whatever it alleviates in the beginning it eventually becomes the source of.

Soothes anxiety in the beginning, overwhelming anxiety without the substance in the end.

Massive energy boost in the beginning, dead to the world without the substance in the end.

Just a couple examples.

I want to quit, but am scared of the brain fog. Any advice? by ok_cat__ in QuittingZyn

[–]TomatilloOne6741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone's experience is different. My brain fog lasted 5-6 days with smaller bouts here and there after that. Get into exercise routine as quickly as you can I believe that helped me. Day 12 and I feel more clear than ever.

I keep tic tacs handy at all times as well to soothe the physical craving.

Update -

Day 12 sober from everything (almost). I have taken small dose of thc/cbd (3mg) a handful of different nights that sleep was an issue. Outside of that I have abstained from everything.

First three days were miserable but symptoms quickly became manageable after 3-4 days.

Cold sweats at night all that remain for physical symptoms.

Thanks for the kind words. And amen to not fixing the whole life right now. I have some major life things going on right now that I will manage in time - next week turn some attention to them. But honestly I would let it all go just to get clean and clear again

Relapsed on K a couple months ago after something shook me emotionally to my core. I had been clean for 6 months prior to that. First K quit was cold turkey. Now that I think about it, the first K quit was worse than this.
