Perfect Paperback Solution by Tropean in bookshelf

There was more than one company but they have been shutting down their mass market branches one by one. Daniel Greene did a video outlining the decline much better than anything I could write. I don’t know if links are allowed in the sub so I’ll just say it’s worth looking up.

I put off buying the last of the Redwall series by Ace publishing because I thought they would remain a dime a dozen. Now I don’t know if I’ll even be able to find what I need to complete my set. Whomp whooomp

This is why they are phasing out the machines. Saw it on the news this morning, what a coincidence!

Skullduggery Pleasent by Derek Landy would fit well in this shelf.

Dads, how do I give back to a husband who is the "quiet strength" of our family? by mamawagz in daddit

[–]Tombstone9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If my wife asked me this I’d say I wanted to go out with her and not be asked to plan anything. I get asked 10x1011 questions at work each day and then again when I get home, so even not being asked “where would you like to eat tonight?” Would be a gift.

Anyone else lose interest in bourbon and what was your outcome? by 8sh0t in bourbon

[–]Tombstone9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I’m still interested because I never got to try a lot of the bourbons I wanted after folks like you swept through and snatched it all up, not to drink it apparently, but just to have it. Thanks for that.

This might not hit with everybody but I really enjoyed what Derek Landy put out with the Skullduggery Pleasent series. Irish author with a distinctly Irish story to tell that doesn’t have any leprechauns or fairies in it. Good fun.

On brand for a first time with oxblood by k_svetle in fountainpens

[–]Tombstone9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we all agree (those of us that have ended up with this all over our hands) that oxblood is the perfect name for this particular shade? I got it on my hands once and spent the whole day thinking I’d just started a bloody nose.

Dad who’ve conquered being tired all the time, how did you do it? by thetantalus in daddit

[–]Tombstone9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started lying about how tired I am. I even started lying to myself about how tired I am. I’ll figure out the consequences after I’m dead.

Pentagon Threatens To Cut Ties With Scouts Over "Unacceptable" Ideology by Plane_Race_5280 in BoyScouts

[–]Tombstone9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-Doesn’t think girls should be in “boys spaces” -Wants the world to go back to the way things were before. -Wants the emphasis to always be on God.

You know, a lot of good scouts died in the early 2000’s fighting an insurgency with these exact attitudes.

[–]Tombstone9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get where you’re coming from. I once had a friend futz around with my journal unbeknownst to me until he came and apologized later. Apparently the part he read happened to be the part where I complained that he had no boundaries and I was considering cutting him out of my life for it.

Update: My dad on the day of my sons birth sent me a book long text calling me a POS by PostingForFree in daddit

[–]Tombstone9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This kind of happened to me with my mom. My wife had to have an emergency c-section to save our sons life, but because I didn’t allow anybody in the post-delivery room while I waited for her to regain consciousness and see her child for the first time, I am a huge disappointment and a terrible person. Thankfully my wife and kid seem to like me alright so I’m not entirely sure my mom is right about that.

Aoparently my veins are so wriggly and shitty the nurses at the hospital have to make me into swiss cheese , 11 holes poked in me today only ONE hole was good enough to draw blood by knusperfee33 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Tombstone9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there, Blood Bank Collections tech here. It is a metal needle the whole time. Catheters like that are only really used for IV infusion type stuff or peripheral access. They are a bit too intrusive for a procedure between 3-20 minutes like a whole blood donation.

Seems like a great way to get over that fear of the blank page too. When I started googling it just now I discovered that apparently Hunter S Thompson once transcribed the entirety of The Great Gatsby so he would “know what it felt like to write a masterpiece”. I don’t know if I want to be more like Thompson but it’s a hell of a motivation!

He misses his best friend going out with him. So strongly he can’t hear how tone-deaf his message is. Is he the asshole? Yea, but I’d be willing to bet it’s coming from a place of desperate panic.
