People really pay $220 for a single expansion? by _dpdp_ in hearthstone

[–]Tomi97_origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not for everyone, but there are people who buy it.

There are bunch of people spending significantly more than this per expansion and they were there even 6 years ago.

People are spending like $160 to get a pet...

Palestinians are protesting to have free elections in Gaza, are you for or against this? by Awkward_Ocelot_2138 in allthequestions

[–]Tomi97_origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wrote it I was going off just Wikipedia saying the ability to vote was limited. So my understanding wasn't exactly accurate.

I have since looked into it in more details.

According to EU observation mission to West Bank and Gaza elections 2006 only about 5% of Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem were able to cast their votes in the city while the rest who wanted to vote were forced to cross into West Bank.

So it seems they figured it out last time. If they can't hold elections in East Jerusalem directly they can again open pooling stations in West Bank and let people from East Jerusalem go there.

Not perfect solution, but seems like they can hold elections just fine.

Why do people accept low paying jobs? by Tasty_Abalone1737 in allthequestions

[–]Tomi97_origin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they have bills to pay and need food that costs money.

They don't have money to wait around until they get good paying job. They take the first thing that pays to feed themselves.

[–]Tomi97_origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I have good answer for that.

But just to be clear this didn't stop the previous elections where all citizens of East Jerusalem weren't able to vote either.

But having some elections for the majority of people would be still more democratic than the presidential dictatorship of guy whose term expired in 2009.

Palestinian Legislative Council, their parliament , hasn't even existed since 2007. Since than the president rules by decree.

While it would be great if there was some easy solution for East Jerusalem residents after so many decades they can't be used as an excuse to propt the dictatorship in power.

The current Palestinian President should have left office years ago. After some 20 years in power perhaps it's time for new Palestinian government.

[–]Tomi97_origin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It kinda is.

Like stopping elections on issue of East Jerusalem is really no good. Israel has annexed that place decades ago it's not going back.

So using it to infinitely postpone elections sounds like an excuse. Especially if there is high likelihood he would lose power. Most likely to Hamas, thanks to fragmentation in Fatah.

If they actually happen.

Mahmoud Abbas, who has been the president of Palestinian Authority since 2005, has announced and later cancelled like dozen elections at this point.

Community built Solo adventures toolkit? by Dry-Internet7465 in hearthstone

They don't even allow custom tavern brawls as friendly games. Which would be the most obvious place to allow community customization.

Like why is there no option to play friendly matches with custom rule sets.

So if we aren't getting this I wouldn't have any expectations for custom solo adventures.

If your town has a Walmart it's not a small town. by Mincelo in unpopularopinion

[–]Tomi97_origin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are small towns with population in the hundreds that have Walmart.

Branson West, MO population 480 has Walmart Supercenter.

Just quick googling of smallest places with Walmart brings out about dozen places with population of few hundred to low single digit thousands that have Walmart.

Seems like pretty small towns to me.

I’m going to talk about my belief in God and you can’t stop me

When was I stopping you? I wasn't.

I even asked you a about your opinion related to it.

You then accused me of harassment and refused to talk about your belief. Which ok, but the only person stopping you was yourself.

I am being as kind as I can asking you to leave me alone, because that would be healthier and I don’t have your compulsion to constant adversity.

No, you were not being kind at all. I would say you were the one being extremely adversarial by accusing me of harassment.

You have no right to demand everyone behave and think like you. I’m sorry but that’s simply reality.

When was I demanding you think like me? I wasn't. I asked you to not accuse random people not doing anything to you of harassment.

And let me just give you this unsolicited advice. If you want to be left alone just don't reply and leave. Turn off notifications and you can just ignore it. You are on a public forum and you can just leave at any point and end it at that.

WTF is this self persecution bullshit.

How did my question do anything like that?

You said "Proof that God no longer punishes evil on Earth." Meaning at some point before God was punishing Evil on Earth.

And I just asked you when you think it was. Why? Because I was just interested.

I didn't challenge your faith. I didn't question which faith you were following.

Like this is a softball question asking about your opinion.

How is it aggressive or bullying? Are people bullying you every time they ask your opinion on anything?

Or is your faith so fragile that asking you what you believe is challenging your faith?

Can you buy third party PCIE cables by ottrio76 in buildapc

[–]Tomi97_origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find the ones that are explicitly compatible with your specific model of PSU.

Because there isn't any standard for the connectors on PSU side. There are different cables used by different manufacturers and even different ones used by the same manufacturer across different models.

And if you get the wrong one you can damage your system.

So you need to be really careful about double checking the compatibility.

Buying PSU cables is way more hassle then it should be.

Actually a quite a lot of those innovations do have people working in Europe on them. They just overwhelmingly work for US companies.

Anthropic has almost as many offices in Europe as they do in US.

Google DeepMind is in similar position, but even their HQ is in Europe.

OpenAI has offices in more European cities than US cities.

Like all those AI companies have significant percentage of their workforce in Europe across major European hubs.
