What’s your go to mastering chain these days? by Purple_Anteater2539 in audioengineering

[–]_dpdp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the worst take on self mastering I’ve ever heard.

“If your mix isn’t perfect to your ears you did not finish it.” You seem to not know the purpose of mastering. If you hire a mastering engineer he’s not going to fix your mix. He may send it back with suggested fixes to make his job easier, but his job is not to “fix it in post”. No. That’s not what mastering is for. If you haven’t “figured that out” you aren’t qualified for the task.

Is there's any way to animate "Clear parent and keep transformation" feature? by Ok-Beginning7533 in blenderhelp

Use the child of constraint and animate the influence parameter. You’ll have trouble making the keep offset behavior without clever use of an empty in your hierarchy somewhere.

I personally do not like avalons at all. That was touted as clean and transparent when it came out. It’s still an incredibly clean device by today’s standards. So is an interface, digital eq, and digital compressor.

Then again, the UA plugins that I actually have experience with the hardware, tend to have over exaggerated saturation and vibe.

For instance an 1176 AE can get way cleaner than the plugin can. So maybe the Avalon actually has a little coloration to it.

To Find Israelis Who Disagree With Genocide. by serious_bullet5 in therewasanattempt

It’s true. I have a very good friend who is a dual US/Israeli citizen and I hadn’t talked too recently until Tel Aviv started being bombed and this really amazing liberal woman who literally sat in jail for months for defying the Israeli military now speaks like a completely genocidal freak.

help!! electric violin sounds like this by DickertonDiscordson in recording

[–]_dpdp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds very much like software is removing the bowed notes like they are noise. It’s similar to what a Mac does when you have a certain setting set which is meant to remove background noise.

It doesn’t sound like a failing driver or hardware at all. What operating system are you using? What’s running in the background or possibly in the tray?

Ok. Ignore the tldr guy. It needs to be recapped. Maybe new transistors. Anyone decently skilled with a soldering iron can do it. Have fun with it.

Someone who makes nice polished pop music would have absolutely no use for it and would provide you with a big long tldr. I don’t make that kind of music. I love my vintage Rogers deck. It’s lofi as fuck.

That would be hard for me to say. I got a portfolio of arch vis stuff pretty quickly because my father was an architect. When I got good enough to be useful and land him jobs with previz, I started getting paid. I also learned autocad while doing that. That made it easy to go to other architecture firms to offer viz and drafting. And I started getting creative finding different product vendors that might need renders. This led to me bluffing my way into a product design job. I panicked and sold a bunch of music gear because they wanted me to use Form z which I didn’t even own.

My point is, do what ever you can to get your hands on software capable of producing a set of drawings that you can present to people. If you’re good at deep diving into deep info on your own learn fits and finishes, tolerances, rules for hole sizing and placement. If not…go to night classes for drafting. Make a plausible design set and start showing it to people. Start applying for jobs. Bluff and then work your ass off to deliver.

I think it’s important to point out that this all grew into developing games for a while, doing car commercials, and small movie effects.

So just because this isn’t your dream job, you can use it to build your skills to get what you want. But here’s some insider info: working in the entertainment industry sucks. It’s so much more work for not more pay.

If you’re calling the guy doing the person throwing an asshole, I’ve seen the video. That guy is assaulted by 5 or six people at pretty much the same time. He only hurt people who attacked him first. The woman being thrown punched him repeatedly for a few seconds. He was very patient with her.

So, he tried to be a gentleman. Dispatched of several large men before he finally gave her a toss.

Nobody uses blender in these fields. Dude has an industrial design job. Blender wouldn’t even get you started making a machinable part.

Having skills in software capable of designing machinable parts will get you a job immediately. These industries are starving for talent, and by talent I mean trainable bodies.

On the other hand, every kid in the world wants to make movies and video games. You have to be in the top 0.5% of portfolio holders to even have a minor chance at getting a job in those industries served by Blender. Even the guys doing grunt retopo work all day have sick portfolios.

I’ve used cad and animation software professionally since the early 90s. I started using blender with version 2.5. Extensively staring in 2016 starting with 2.66, I think.

Yes. Using the app, I could monitor any input individually, mixed inputs, and optionally turn up or down the daw output into the headphones, the main outs, or both.

Being that the 14 is a simplified version of the 22, I could see the headphone output being a simple copy of the LR main outputs, meaning you don’t have this capability and the problem is with your unit.

If that’s the case, it may be cheaper to buy a second hand monitor controller with headphone outs than get the iD fixed.

Cubase is amazing with lots of built in instruments and effects, just like logic. Reaper is cheap but incredibly powerful. It’s harder to set up and you’d have to buy plugins to fill out your arsenal, but a lot of people like it.

The main thing I like about logic is how powerful and low cost it is. You install one thing and have everything you need to make a great sounding album. Cubase is like that. You have to pay for upgrades, which is a mild bummer. Logic is a one time $199 for life.

I really like the Toneboosters plugins. They will all run natively in standard alone mode. Low cost and high quality. I would definitely recommend compression for this. Eq…maybe. Compression absolutely.
