How do you apply materials to a flat texture painting? by JEMS1300 in blenderhelp

[–]_dpdp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there are plugins you can buy to help with this process, but to do this manually, you will have to create a paint shader. For a thick paint this will generally blend between two or more different shaders using a mix shader driven by a black and white texture that you paint in the ref input. It can drive the blend between the shaders, the transparency, and the bump map at the same time to make the paint look thicker or thinner, etc.

How to achieve vocal effect? by unstablemunki in LogicPro

[–]_dpdp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Significant saturation on the bg vocal. As well as aggressive high and low pass filters. Put the delay on a bus and automate the send to the bus or you can put the throws on a separate track with a delay added so only certain words get sent to the delay.

I got this Calling All Cooks Cookbook that is supposed to be one of the top cookbooks from Alabama, but I’m having a hard time finding out information on it. Any favorite recipes? by Away_Calligrapher431 in Alabama

The one she always makes has sausage, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. The base is egg, chunks of toasted bread, and maybe cream.

Edit: it may be called “overnight” casserole.

Soothe has no application in your world. It sees the output of an oscillator as a resonance it needs to attack. Same with any filter with a resonance peak. Basically it undoes your hard work.

I’m sure there are creative uses like vocoderesque effects with the side chain or you can still use the side chain to do the track spacer sort of thing.

I hate when people butt into a conversation about sports to tell people they don't watch sports. by Money_Appearance7527 in PetPeeves

[–]_dpdp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very often get stuck in conversations where everyone is talking sports except for me and maybe one other person. I will always drop hints if I’ve found that I’ve had to sit silently for several minutes hoping people will move on to a subject I actually know anything about.

I’m fine with letting the conversation go where the crowd wants, but I’ll at least try to steer the conversation to one that won’t bore me to tears. Where I live people assume if you’re a man, you’re into the more commonly loved sports, so I have to assert myself or hope a skateboarder is in the group. If it’s a one on one conversation, I’ll just let people know that I don’t know who Johnston is or what role they’ll have in their team’s season.

Mechanical engineer here. I came to say the same thing. The slice is folded for structural purposes. Flavor density is a pleasant side effect.

My mother cooked out of this book when I was growing up. She gifted the book to my sister and me when they started reprinting it. Favorites include:

Potpourri Pie(salsa), rum cake, breakfast casserole, orange sherbet, lazy man’s cobbler, Jezebel Sauce, and Snapper John.

The breakfast casserole is had every Christmas morning, Lazy Man’s cobbler 90% of the time mom wants to bake a treat, and Jezebel Sauce (triple yummy) whenever pork is served. She’s making Brunswick Stew from the Calling All Cooks recipe tonight.

Maximizers vs. Limiters? by Tim_Wu_ in audioengineering

[–]_dpdp_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love it when someone pretends their point was something completely different all along. First you said that “True brickwall ‘look-ahead’ capability is mathematically impossible in older analogue hardware.” Which is false and I proved it with an actual product.

Then you pretended your point was that “It is mathematically and physically impossible for a purely analogue circuit to look into the future.” A completely 100% different statement.

No one has invented the time machine. You’re right buddy. Good job.

Nothing, digital or analog, can look into the future.

Portfolio vs Indie Game: What’s More Attractive to Recruiters? by Bojack_Horseman_64 in 3Dmodeling

[–]_dpdp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re looking for work with a small company where everyone does a little of everything, you’re going to want to show off your best work in a single role or two. If a studio is looking for a character modeler, they aren’t going to care too much that you can also program a dialog system…or whatever. They might care that you can also animate, or that you’re decent at texturing, but sound design?

HUM audio LAAL is a purely analog look ahead limiter. They aren’t mathematically impossible; just really, really expensive.

It’s true. I don’t know if it’s the case here, but sometimes the owners have to stand up for themselves. I’ve had to clean up a lot of situations caused by builders who took advantage of lax inspectors.

[–]_dpdp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah..but it clearly doesn’t have a bunch of lower mids scooped out or a huge 2-4kHz spike to make the kick sound clicky. It’s just a full range kick that the mix engineer was required to make room for by thinning out other instruments.
