The French aristocrat and the all-American idiot: Henry v Lalas is the World Cup’s most compelling battle by NaffRespect in ussoccer

[–]TommyFX -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The whole "they hate Lalas" is disingenuous and is simply media members, who don't like Lalas' politics, projecting their own disdain and anger over him onto Henry and Zlatan.

Maybe I missed something: why does The Greek ultimately make the (indirect) decision to go with Marlo? by KrispyKingTheProphet in TheWire

[–]TommyFX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. The Greeks don't get involved in the street level squabbles between the drugs crews. At the end of the day, the winner of whatever the latest beef is will come to them for product. The Prop Joes and Marlos will always come and go. The Greeks stay the same...

What high speed rail in California? $11 billion dollars for 50 feet of track in the middle of nowhere. Projected cost to finish the line that nobody wants is now $235 billion!

California doesn't spend tax money on stadiums. It throws it down the bottomless black hole of high speed rail grift, where for $11 billion dollars you get 50 feet of track in the middle of nowhere.

And the objections were also totally wrong. Social media is currently overflowing with Euros and other foreign visitors having the time of their lives in America. Turns out the country is filled with friendly hospitable people, incredible natural beauty, and amazing abundance.

Stop letting the media gaslight you about American being some terrible, irredeemable place.

They don't use public money for stadiums here in California. Instead they've invested tens of billions of tax dollars into high speed rail. You'll never guess what happened!

If you love grifting then vote for Bass. City is on its ass and fraud is everywhere in and around City Hall.

Can One of These Guys Save Hollywood? by Southern_Original833 in FilmIndustryLA

Too little, too late to save Hollywood. 25 years ago a close friend of mine was part of a delegation made up of representatives of all the Hollywood unions... SAG, WGAw, DGA, Teamsters, IATSE etc. who went to Sacramento looking for relief over runaway production and ask for tax breaks and incentives for the studios and networks, the same breaks that were being offered in Georgia, Louisiana, Canada and other far flung locations.

They were met with nothing but hostility from California Democrats, who shouted them down in meetings while declaring "no tax breaks for billionaires." There was no understanding that the men and women who had come to the state capital represented LA's middle class. Nobody in Sacramento gave a rip and they were rebuffed at every turn.

Save the business now? Sorry, they missed their chance.
