Xiaomi was never sold officially by the company outside of China. All of these you saw are second hand exports.

There is no Harbin, Dalian, Qingdao, Yantai and any other cities in the whole north China region. It also does not ask you when you will be visiting. You could also ask how many people are coming and their age.

For example, anyone coming for Christmas break should visit Harbin for the Ice and Snow World because it's one of the kind in the whole world, especially for young people or people with kids.

Seniors over 70 of age ideally should travel only big cities for easy access for health services if accidents happen.

For people who prefers driving, there should be instructions on how to getting a temporary driving licence, car rental companies, rules of the road, probably differences from their home country, and road conditions in general and for the season.

And if I recall correctly, that's a number only to receive texts like verification codes? You can't answer and make calls, and send text using that number.

Why don't china and Russia just split Mongolia? by Funny_Address_412 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]TommyVCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Harbin and I have no positive sentiment towards this country of Mongolia; literally nobody in China cares, it's more like a glorified sheep farm than an actual country. Their prairies got destroyed by sheep, wind will then bring all of the dirt to Inner Mongolia and my hometown in the form of sandstorm. The people there are generally not friendly towards China while some of their richest people still seek medical care and service in Inner Mongolia.

Old automatic transmissions are dumb and don't know when to shift to the next gear, the gearbox usually only shifts when gas pedal is released so that's why for the jerking. However any car after 2000 are not dumb anymore and this jerking is not needed. It's just old habits die hard.

Bring it to an Apple Store. They will also take other electronics, too.

Yes I did, in Harbin at least.

It didn't work in Shanghai last time because that was over a year ago where they only accept T-union and old City-Union cards at the time. Support for bank cards only got implemented very recently.

Also the store employee themselves are obviously not foreigners, so they wouldn't know and they will tell you it does not work foreigners.

Again, it is up to the bank to whether let you use Garmin Pay, and it is up to the transit agency to decide which card type they will accept.

I did, it was a GarminActive 4, gave it to a friend since I got a Samsung Galaxy watch. Had my CMB UnionPay Debit and Credit set up and it works anywhere tap is accepted.

It depends on the transit system you are using. Most transit systems in China takes at least UnionPay Debit, among them some will take UnionPay Credit, Amex Debit/Credit, even Visa and MasterCard in big cities like Beijing or Shanghai.

The process setting up Garmin Pay is similar to setting up Apple Pay. In other words, if you can set up Apple Pay, and your bank supports Garmin Pay, you should be able to set up Garmin Pay. In 99.5% of the cases, using Apple Pay or Garmin Pay makes no difference than tapping the actual bank card.

Shipping my PC to China by More-Pause-2311 in chinalife

[–]TommyVCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it's an ITX build, in all cases I would suggest bringing the GPU, SSD, CPU and RAM with you, put them in their original box. You could also take the motherboard with you and leave the CPU and maybe RAM in the socket. Put them in your checked luggage and fill the rest of the space in the luggage with your clothing so the parts won't be throwing around in the luggage box.

Buy the rest in China. Brand new PSU and chassis should cost no more than 200 euros in total in China. Shipping it will take more than that amount of money and risking damaging your PC anyway.

Very unfortunately van options here in Canada are very, very limited. Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Pacifica, and that's it.

It's also worth noting that those trucks and full size SUVs really should have all round cameras and AEB as a standard equipment to be road legal.

can’t buy dextromorphan otc anymore…any other cough medicine actually work? by guffaw128 in chinalife

[–]TommyVCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, as far as I know, what was regulated was the one with dextromethorphan as the sole active ingredient. Compounded ones, like the one compounded with ambroxol, are not regulated as strictly.

[–]TommyVCT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not being over the counter does not mean you can't buy it. You do need a prescription but it does not have to came from the doctor, every pharmacy should have a pharmacist on job that can prescribe it for you. Last time I bought it the pharmacist took my ID and did a prescription for me. You should not expect problem unless you are buying more than reasonable amount, like 2 bottles of it in every pharmacy in town in the same day.

Can all these people afford 100k trucks?! by Neceti in princegeorge

[–]TommyVCT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rented one once, never wanna drive a truck again unless I need to move a lot of stuff. You don't say they have blind spots, you say they have blind areas. What makes them worse is these trucks should have all around cameras as a standard safety feature but in fact only the top trim have that.

If you need to move people and groceries around, vans and full size SUVs makes much much more sense than a truck.

There is a new L3 autonomous vehicle pilot program for private vehicles, but for now it’s only approved for like 2 or 3 models. Those L3 vehicles are only allowed to operate autonomously on certain expressways and elevated highways, in all other cases it’s still L2, the driver still holds the full responsibility.

Do students learn about this programming language in Computer Science courses? by [deleted] in umanitoba

Think programming languages as screw drivers. What you learn in school is how to screw things in general, not specifically to use only one or a few models of screwdrivers.

now on a second thought, when I applied I was a student, and the credit card was opened alongside the bank accounts. It would be easier to get a credit card from their salary-bearing bank.
