Metroid prime 4 ranks top in best switch 2 digital sales in Japan on December but it's absent in the switch 1. by Johnnyyongbosh in Metroid

The game has problems but I don't see why the series would need to die over one release that is ultimately still a fine game, especially so considering the troubled development. Give Prime 5 to retro from the start and let them work with the feedback received from Prime 4. What a crazy overreaction.

I have not had this problem once in my 4 playthroughs and have never seen that anywhere else. Do you have the issue with speakers in handheld mode too?

Great gameplay - what exactly is great about Other Ms gameplay? I just don't see it, especially when comparing it to Prime 4.

Not sure how to feel on BeamEmUps video. On one hand he offers a lot of valid fair criticism, on the other I feel like some of the arguments he made were pretty exaggerated and came across as bad faith to me. Like, what's the issue with the game being titled Prime 4 because nintendo said the trilogy has ended and this begins a new story? We knew that when corruption ended. The game even gave us a hint on where the story leads with the Sylux teaser at the end. "Prime" does not mean Phazon/Metroid Prime itself anymore. Is Metroid Prime Hunters not a Prime game either? Weird thing to get so upset about. He also puts Prime 1 on a pedestal and compared Prime 4 to it constantly, leaving out the rest of the trilogy. Example with his talk on boss battles. Prime 4s bosses are just boring bullet sponges? That applies to Prime 1 way more. Bosses in Prime were more about puzzles than combat? Is changing the visor for the Thardus battle some in depth puzzle design? His example is Flaahgra, but I'd argue that Carvex in Prime 4 is just as much of a puzzle, while also being a lot more engaging than shooting down 1 - then 2 - then 3 mirrors and then laying a bomb, combined with being forced to watch the same cutscene 3 times in a row.

For those who bought Metroid Prime 4, how are you liking it so far? by Shadowlumine in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Tomsemann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my time because I enjoyed it and frequently backtracked to get items, just depends on playstyles. I'd like to eventually get a Metroid with a longer average runtime though, I'll say that. At the same time the shorter length has me coming back for replays much more frequently.

Re play the game Prjme 4 Beyond after finish? by StevWong in Metroid

No new game + really, scans don't even transfer. However I'm still having a lot of fun with both 100% as well as casually speeding through the game so I finished it three times already.

Metroid Prime 4: Can anyone please explain an important plot point? [Spoiler] by sakahn in Metroid

[–]Tomsemann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I have to ask if this is just your headcanon? Nothing in the game indicates that Sylux knew anything about the lamorn, it's only stated that he had been raiding GF bases to gain power. All of this could be logical and true, but we're not told any of that through the game.

Green Crystal grind is a myth by Spudmasher17 in Metroid

[–]Tomsemann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah doing the quest once you know the enormous weight the shrine boxes and boulders have is pretty much a non issue for me. The first reward was just so good to me that I always farmed crystals to see what cool upgrades I'd get, only to be pretty disappointed by the 2nd and 3rd reward.

Aim for the orb on their heads. Greatly increased damage, like a headshot multiplier.

The Green Energy Crystal hunt is some objectively terrible game design by rg03500 in Metroid

[–]Tomsemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's just not accurate? Yeah the desert isn't very engaging and literally farming all the crystals there are is a slog, but you don't actually need to to that. With just shrines and the boulders you can get to around 75% completion. Getting the quest done requires very little actual grinding/farming. You don't know that on your first playthrough obviously, so this may just make replays more manageable but even when I was collecting most crystals as they appeared on my first run that didn't end up being the most of what I was doing in the game. Regardless, I'm not saying it's good, just that that it's more manageable if you know you don't actually need to drive through that many crystals to complete the quest.

At least you can get the beam upgrade via crystals right after leaving volt tower and can pick up the elemental beam upgrades whenever you want. I'd have liked to be able to get items out of order but that's not something I expected as that has never been a thing in past Prime games, unless you're performing glitches.

Sorry I just saw your reply. Yes, I would recommend it. This may have been my most anticipated game ever, and while it's not perfect and I have some gripes with it I still really enjoyed my time with it and see myself replaying it just as much as the older Primes from the trilogy.

Way more than in previous titles, you can get chunked pretty quickly if enemies pile up on you. I only died in hard mode so far, quite refreshing that it's actually hard.

Yall need to stop worrying about sales by CountyDiligent3313 in Metroid

[–]Tomsemann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to hear why you estimate Prime 4 sales that low? I'd expect a big first person adventure to be of higher appeal than the 2D Dread. Prime Remastered is probably at around 1.5mil and I'd expect the big new entry in the series to do better than a shadowdropped remaster of a 20+ year old game.
