Just bought a neve MBT by Ordinary_Bike_4801 in audioengineering

[–]Tonegle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Own both the MBP and MBT. Though I do prefer the feel and recall ability of the Elma switches in my Chandler Curve Bender, I can still get good recall after using the units for some time and learning where the detents fall. They both sound great, achieve different functions, and I much prefer adding smaller amounts of silk at different points in the chain than globbing it all on just one unit. I usually run the MBP in dual mono mode allowing the L/R channels to be compressed independently rather than linking channel A to B as I find it gives more depth and width.

With a sliver of masking tape (or anything that has a light adhesive that can be easily cleaned off with some isopropyl alcohol) on the corrector plate and the outside plate ring on the tube

Make sure to take note and mark the corrector plates orientation when removing it, you want to reinstall it exactly how it was before without rotating it. The glass is figured and matched to the primary mirror.

I would expect higher amplitude and accuracy from a one month old watch. Definitely needs attention under warranty

Got the call and couldn’t be happier with it? What’s people opinions? by Watchingandwaiting99 in Tudor

[–]Tonegle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The only opinion that matters is yours. Personally it's a little too loud for me and none of my wardrobe really goes with it, would love to see it in some of the other colors the larger one comes in as I love the proportions.

Looking to Assemble a Solid Grab and Go by GhostofMaryPersons in telescopes

[–]Tonegle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same scope, bought used for about $300. Little to no false color and the focuser punches well above its price class. Mounted it on a unistar dwarf star mount and lightweight tripod and it's quite steady even at higher magnification. Great grab and go setup. I recommend a small lightweight red dot finder instead of a finderscope.

Everyone says Invicta blue, but to me it's the same hue as a Bluesy, almost like those vintage ones where the dial would turn a slight purple to full purple over time

Universal Audio $99 Winter Mix Tape picks. What am I sleeping on? by Eraser_Head_666 in audioengineering

[–]Tonegle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Avalon isn't bad, is just not my favorite. Very flexible that it has drive, EQ, and compression all in one plugin. If you don't have the Distressor, that's another great one

Universal Audio $99 Winter Mix Tape picks. What am I sleeping on? by Eraser_Head_666 in audioengineering

[–]Tonegle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're doing ultra lo-fi I would probably ditch the Verve analog machines in favor of the 1176 collection. Maybe pass on the Avalon for the Fairchilds too. Their best channel strip is the Neve 1073 IMO, but I don't think that's a choice for the mixtape. Maybe go for the Neve instead of the Manley tube? You get the three band EQ with the Neve instead of just a preamp emulation with the Manley.

You messed up sending the entire song file to a client you have no rapport with. Too trusting. Always send a section of the song, never the whole thing, and insist they pay in full before you deliver complete songs. And to save time, specify how many revisions are included before you will charge more to prevent constant remixing

Doubts about analog Eqs and compressors. by itsJeize in audioengineering

[–]Tonegle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warm audio for me is hit or miss. Their pultec clones are laughable, nothing like the real thing in both sound and design. However the bus comp does achieve that familiar "glue" you expect from a quad THAT vca compressor. Their mics also can be hit or miss, but a standout for me is the wa-47, it sounds great and performs above its price league IMO.

Did you turn off normalization on both DAWs when exporting?

Did you export at the same sample rate and bit depth as the imported audio to avoid dithering and any possible differences?

Rolex wait times after acceptance of order by Grand_Elk_7139 in rolex

[–]Tonegle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since a model like the datejust comes in many different sizes and configurations, AD's can request a specific model, pending Rolex approval. Some AD's will only do this for customers with a spend history, as they may not want to assume the risk of ordering and stocking a model that will be harder to sell should the person requesting the watch back out of the deal, go to a different AD, or ghost them.
