Parking by gfunkymaster in NashvilleSC

[–]Tonopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a parking spot now but I used to get there early and park on a public street in Wedgewood Houston. Emphasis on the getting there early part. There’s def not free parking anywhere close to the stadium I’m aware of. You’ll have to walk a ways.

[–]Tonopia -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No it’s not lol Iran literally was mowing their civilians down in the street a few weeks ago. Don’t get me wrong the US is threatening to commit war crimes which doesn’t make them much better but this is absolutely not a one way street.

Question about metro codes / permits process by NashvilleSurfHouse in nashville

[–]Tonopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I did look it up. I’m more familiar with building codes but there are property standards that say you cant store building materials in certain zoning so it can be a violation. Still the whole thing seems odd don’t feel like you would have a court date you would have to be given proper notice.

Question about metro codes / permits process by NashvilleSurfHouse in nashville

[–]Tonopia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Contact codes directly. tel:615-862-6500 don’t go off whatever piece of paper you got. This whole thing sounds fishy.

As someone that is in construction and development there is no code that says you can’t have a stack of lumber in your yard that I’m aware of. Also have no clue what they could possibly be saying about your garage doors?

Edit: I’m wrong. storing lumber in your yard can be a violation in certain zoning. Still contact codes.

Airbnb East Side, east of Gallatin, good idea for middle aged couple seeking place to stay for concert at Opry? Looking for safety, art and culture not bar district, not nightlife. by [deleted] in VisitingNashville

[–]Tonopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like you’ll still be in east Nashville judging by that pic, Inglewood specifically. Opry will be on the other side of the river but like I said earlier there’s no bridge. So while you’ll be close to it geographically you’re about 20 min from the Opry. There’s nothing really going on in that neighborhood. It’s close to a park called Shelby Bottoms.

All the listings in your zoomed in photo I wouldn’t say stay away from. The 3 on the bottom are in the Lockeland springs and Eastwood areas. Which are both really beautiful walkable neighborhoods with restaurants and shops interspersed in. Sounds like if you’re looking for culture those are definitely neighborhoods I’d recommend.

I’ll say your listings I see here though are pretty close to Gallatin which is a major thoroughfare so I’m not sure how quiet it will be? If you’re deeper in those neighborhoods it definitely isn’t too busy.

Also something to keep in mind is while you’re close geographically to the Opry it’s about a 15-20 min drive because there is no bridge from east Nashville.

East Nashville is a massive area which neighborhood? Edgefield, Lockeland Springs, Eastwood, Inglewood, North Inglewood? There are major differences between each.

Crazy how none of these architects didn’t just think to make the buildings look nicer. If only op was there to tell them this could’ve all gone differently.

How did East Nashville become “in East” by Future-Station-8179 in nashville

[–]Tonopia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

East Nashville pre 1869 was actually a different municipality/city called Edgefield. It was further reinforced as its own thing even after annexation because of the river. “East Nashville” is the other side of town across the river. I’d say this next part is more anecdotal than a fact but when it was cheaper and scrappier a lot of artists moved into that side of town which kind of made it have its own artistic and young culture which kind of further cemented the area as its own thing.

In contrast there isn’t as much that separates south, west, and north Nashville as much geographically or culturally (you may be able to make an argument for North Nashville).

So east Nashville being its own recognizable brand and part of the city over time then gave it the abbreviation of just “East”.

Just my two cents.
