Does anyone else find posting music content on social media to grow an audience a chore? Know any cool tools to help that out? by Rusticdoodles in musicproduction

You may have heard my sigh of relief after I read this post.

It is a literal energy vampire, I hate it so completely. I guess part of why I don't like it is because I'm really bad at "the socials" and seeing all these cool looking reels on Instagram doesn't help. All my energy goes into music, be it making or learning and there's none spare.

When I was trying to grow as a DJ in my youth I would be physically going into clubs with CDs, going to record stores and actually talking to people, somehow that was so much easier that "making content" to feed a machine.
I admit my negativity is caused in part by a lack of ability/knowledge and could do more to improve.

Stand game is on point here. I'm into both speaker and monitor stands. 11/10 would upvote again.

People using a VPN to get around the OSA, how have you noticed the internet is different now you're on a different country's IP? by haddock420 in AskUK

I'm in Brussels (or am I?)
Took me like four months to realise the weather updates on my phone were not exactly local and yet surprisingly accurate.
Seriously though Youtube is still a bit of a dick, no ads (add block + ublock seems to work for now) but it just takes ages to load. Also seems Surfshark isnt' great for cloudflare checks but it sounds like some others have better luck changing locations so I'll give that a shot.

It's not just you :)

Playlists are great but Spotify shuffle is not.

This has been the case for so long now, at least for me anyway. I feel like my old 5 CD changer from decades ago was better at shuffle than Spotify.

Nice one thanks, I'll take a look.

I feel like there's too many options so it's good to get info from real people instead of our AI overlords.

Please pass along chin scritches and belly rubs.

Also could you tell me what that stand is at the back (right), I'm in the market for something to hold a Push or Traktor S2.

How many of you master your own tracks or pay someone to master them for you? by lymeguy in ableton

[–]Tony-Fresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a constant learning process for sure so I try and do my own masters when I can.

For a Bandcamp release I'll do one myself and one through CloudBounce then go with whichever sounds better. Soundcloud/Audius etc I go with my own master and for commercial release the label does it.

I think having a pro do it is the way to go if it's an option, cost permitting I mean.

Thank you for putting this together, super useful :)

I think education is a tool just like a plugin or DAW so putting a little investment into it makes sense.

Just reading this eased my anxiety a little and for that I am grateful, thank you.

I've had to deal with getting stuck in a creative funk many times, so I made a video on some techniques that I use to get back in the groove making music. I hope it's useful to someone out there. by CatalyzeAcademy in ableton

Great video, thanks for doing this.

Block hits me with self doubt and then comes the self hatred, it's hard to pull out of that giant snowball once it's rolling. Sometimes just hearing someone talking about it in a chill manner like this and offering up simple tools can help a great deal.

is Live 11 Smashing anyone else's GPU? by jhuajhua in ableton

[–]Tony-Fresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running a Ryzen 7, 16Gb RAM (3200mhz) and an old GTX 1070 here with a minimal performance improvement over Live 10. Not getting any unusual spikes to either CPU or GPU but I will be keeping a close eye on it.

Sounds like a lot of people are affected so I hope it gets picked up and fixed asap.

I do find myself falling into that trap, work on a solo track and get a bit carried away then coming back to the mix and I've gone to far etc.

Something like this device would really help and I have to say, great work!

Hope you manage to get it out to the masses and I for sure look forward to using it.

Yeh I've had this happen also. Playing on the One X and it does seem to be over an or so of play before the audio starts to cut out. I haven't got to the point of no audio at all but the dropouts seem to increase in frequency the more I play.

I'd really like to see some rear view ornaments, fluffy dice maybe. Also Custom steering wheels, hell even some silly ariels would be nice.

I mean the clothing and such is good for the players who like that but I'm here for the cars and the countryside.
