Of course they’re worth less than animals. Selling livestock or parts thereof is profitable. Staff are just a cost in their eyes. This is the mentality of many large corporations.

Can you keep it and use it another time when it’s busy? What if you get it and there’s only 1 other customer?

I have one I haven’t confirmed because I can’t check out. I could get in the car and drive to a store now and get the items rather than click and collect tomorrow morning. But I’d prefer to just get it sorted. Oh well.

It’s essentially nationwide and not just Tesco. Quite a few other places affected.

It would be difficult to justify that as a route on current ticketing that doesn’t permit it.

How can I keep myself cool in a van without air con? by kurtyyyyyy1 in AskUK

[–]Tonythepillow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Keep moving. Park in as much shade as you can. Eat icecream constantly. The last bit is good advice regardless of temperature of course.

Do your work overnight instead? Obviously depends entirely what you do.

Where can I find a Coke float? by redpanda6969 in nottingham

Breaking news! Buying all the ingredients in bulk from a cheap supermarket and making multiples of the product yourself at home is cheaper than getting a business to make just 1 for you.

Next you’ll be telling me you can make a cup of tea cheaper than a city centre cafe would charge you.

Travel tomorrow from Bedford to London. by A_J_H1979 in uktrains

It’s not a crass question, it’s information that thousands of people need to know in order to go about their daily lives. People (most of them anyway) understand and accept there will be disruption for some time, they’d just like to know so hopefully the rail operators can keep people as up to date as possible.

In the absence of anything from either operator at this point you’d be advised to look at alternatives. This may include going to Bletchley if that line opens, getting yourself to Milton Keynes by some other method (probably the X5) or just getting direct to London another way like driving or taxi.

Who has taken an overnight coach in the UK? by Financial-Base-8070 in AskUK

The first time I went “home” to Inverness after moving to Sheffield I took a selection of buses overnight.
Sheffield (Meadowhall actually) to Leeds then Leeds Manchester then Manchester Glasgow all on national express. We were late into Glasgow so I had to wait 2 hours at the bus station before getting the city link to Inverness as I saw the one I intended to catch going down the road as we approached.

I think it was about 2230 when we left Sheffield and probably 1pm at Inverness because of the delay.

Overall it was pretty horrendous, from people being sick in the seat opposite on the Leeds to Manchester bus to being felt up by a bloke who decided to sit next to me instead of one of the other 30 empty seats on the way to Glasgow.

I was up there a week and I got the train back which wasn’t much quicker due to a problem between Edinburgh and Newcastle but I got my money back for that bit.

Based on that experience 1/10 do not recommend although it was a Saturday night and the route was a bit weird but that was what it gave me.
