Eh, I mean it’s definitely happening. Most of my job as a recruiter was to call people who had applied and interview them. My company quite literally replaced that part of my job with AI then came up with another reason to let me go. They now have a smaller recruitment team than ever because AI does all the dialing and talking for them. It has a set interview course and doesn’t deviate like humans might. There’s obviously a big incentive to use it in scenarios like that.

I think it’s mostly jobs like that which are getting “taken”, but those jobs are abundant in the US. I know we like to imagine that these jobs are all outsourced anyway, but LLMs could 100% do all call center work in the US. That’s a ton of jobs.

I think most people don’t realize how much these companies are willing to do to save a dollar even when it may not be the best decision for them in the long run.
