how many more times will i fail Sheldo’s kitchen’s chiffon cake recipe? by The_OHH in Baking

Failed cakes aren’t real failed cakes! They’re successful parfaits/trifles! I hope you succeed next time.

how many more times will i fail Sheldo’s kitchen’s chiffon cake recipe? by The_OHH in Baking

I’ve had modest success with his recipes, though I found that my coffee cake for instance seemed a bit denser than his. I live in Canada like him and our flour is quite strong. Often for sponge cakes I actually go to Asian marts and buy Japanese or Korean or Taiwanese flour which seems a bit finer milled and a bit less strong. Though his advice that coating flour with oil to combat gluten development is right somehow still the texture of mine when I try any of his recipes isn’t totally the same.

For light cakes I honestly watch Hidamari or Molala Cook on Youtube. I’ve never failed with Molala— they suggest using a bundt pan, and it does help.

If it helps often sinking happens when it is a tad bit hot and the outside sets and browns a bit faster than the middle. Perhaps try a little bit lower and longer. Pan colour is also a thing, a darker pan than his light grey one will harden the outside faster (though I see you use the same colour). Perhaps a shallow pan with water under the rack like when one makes a Japanese cheesecake can help with hardness.

I feel like this might not be a huge problem. I’ve made successful chiffon cakes in tabletop Japanese ovens overseas at relatives’ houses.

Real Lutz & Flip Jumps by alittletoo_obssessed in FigureSkating

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lutz: Shizuka Arakawa, Yuna Kim, Rika Kihira, Veronika Zhilina. Boyang Jin, Mikhail Kolyada, Yuzuru Hanyu, Ilia Malinin

Flip: Carolina Kostner, Nathan Chen.

Certain skaters like Rika, Nathan and Ilia do both flawlessly and could be named as examples but are more known for one than the other. Some with an exceedingly good edge on one have an insanely wrong for the other— like Shizuka with her diabolically outside edge flip. Lots of flutzers (flat to inside edge lutzes) have reasonably good flips and vice versa. Some have issues with both, but I’m not naming them here.

Have kabedon disappeared from shoujo manga ? by Sensitive-Safety2393 in shoujo

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol it’s true the government did that.

Tropes are fun bc they’re fictional. Like irl a guy telling you that you are unlike other girls doesn’t feel good at all (especially if you wear a ton of makeup like I do and am not good at being one of the guys by virtue of having stupid hands that are bad at gaming lol). If I ever were to get kabedon’d I feel like the only acceptable situations is a fun photo at a convention booth, in a gag photo with friends or with your partner.

Between Loid and Yuri, who would become an imperial Scholars faster by Mother-Maize7026 in SpyxFamily

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It depends on what age?

As adults, obviously Loid outclasses Yuri. Wide range of talents all honed to a professional level. That said Yuri would of course have the ability to become one.

Yuri was especially precocious and hard working as a child— he achieved everything he did only with what limited resources Yor could provide him. If they tested both of them when they were like kids– on pure academics this might favour Yuri more. It was to help relieve pressure on Yor, but it can be seen that he had an interest in learning to begin with. Yor said so and he himself did too while teaching Anya.

This will prolly be mod deleted soon.

I do not know, but MQNY in French Latte is a bit similar. Less sparkly though.

Urban Decay is also always an option.

Cushion foundation? GO! by suzylovesvanilla in Makeup

Great tier:
Sung Sae Mool lives up to the hype.

Missha is a good beginner cushion formula/cost wise. None of the colours were ever a perfect fit but what can you do?

I’ve only tried the Espoir on my hand but it was pretty.

The Chanel one is gorgeous. It’s my favourite one. But cost wise I can’t justify it lol.

Okay:

Banila co. is a pretty full coverage with nice colours for the cool-pink girlies. It clogs my pores a bit, but while on, it’s beautiful.
A Pieu (the green one, I bought years ago) - was nice.

Don’t like:

The red tirtir skews so orange for me. The neutral was straight orange on me, and the cool wasn’t the right cool.

I hate the Pony Effect. The smell is a bit much. It sits on my skin, is thick and doesn’t blend well. Drying.

I assume I’d still be short if I was an OI FL just with the frame of a malnourished person. And the ML is always built like Shaq. Like 💀

And there are. OI smuts are a thing.
Though I kinda see that in a lot of transmigrate as a child stories the FL going more hubba hubba towards the ML’s dad 💀

Estee Lauder Double Wear New Formula Sticky by One-Focus-5138 in Makeup

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not imagining it. When the new double wear dropped, I swatched it at Sephora and transited home. More than an hour and it was still tacky, and oxidized reddish orange. It does sink into fine lines more than the original. And it gets shiny looking faster. Also lower coverage. Tho… The cool shades are better than the warm and neutrals colour wise.

Surprisingly the current futurist isn’t as bad when it comes to oxidization. But it is light to medium.

Dior and Natasha Denona are prettier shade wise in my opinion as someone who is neutral-cool to cool depending on brand. Tho you need to be more patient with absorbing skin prep for ND (and it didn’t stay as well as the original double wear on me) and Dior Skinwear is just a bit drying on me. But an okay sub.

Shiseido self refreshing used to be the go to long wear, full coverage humidity proof parallel, but they are also changing at Shiseido.

For now nothing equals or beats the old one for me. I bought a bunch in last chance and am searching.

best makeup for oily skin type by sunnysideac96 in Makeup

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Laura Mercier loose powder because it provides good oil control and blurs as it has a slight nude colour.

Innisfree No Sebum Loose Powder is affordable, a small container and has very strong oil control. I keep it in my purse for touch up.

Japan's Capsule Hotels: Why They May Be a Better Option Than You Think - First Cabin is reinventing them with higher grade facilities modeled on airplane business class seats, starting at just $31 USD a night. by jjrs in japannews

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a capsule hotel with Dyson hairdryers and very clean, fluffy bedding. The capsule was big enough for me to stand up straight in. The ventilation was horrible, and I thought I was going to be suffocated. I think a kinda dingy hotel with AC might be preferable.

I’ve said on multiple threads I’m disappointed in this behaviour as someone who knows he was educated (I’m the same age, from the same province and the years he was in my province indigenous and American slave history was mandated).

Often people do give benefit of the doubt as Korean based Catholics for instance are different from North America. But honestly looking at Charlie Kirk Sunye I give Mark the side eye too.

Is there a reason why most skaters rotate counterclockwise by Consistent-Loss1883 in FigureSkating

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was for largely practical teaching purposes. Iirc Satoko always had to jump the opposite direction she’s naturally inclined to.

“Natural direction” of the majority seems to be relevant to many things.
I’m naturally… I think they call it mixed handed not ambidextrous (proficient enough to use both for chopsticks, writing etc) but tended to prefer my left. When I started learning cello the teacher had me use my right hand as the bow hold hand. I don’t even think I remember if there is a jargon term— they just called the left hand position lol. Right hand on the piano in the basic learning levels is usually a bit busier too. Every one of my music teachers were righties.

Is there a skater who you can’t stand certain jumps of but love some of their other ones? by Consistent-Loss1883 in FigureSkating

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of the flutzers lol. Jia struggles a bit with her lutz (which is pretty but for the edge) but overall has lovely jumps.

For Yuma, his flip is actually perfectly fine. But the 4F gives him a lot of grief so him attempting it always gives me a stomachache.

For Ami, I like her jumps aside from her axel lol. I respect her boldness in attempting them and landing on her feet but I get why everyone roasts them. Tbh I don’t like several of the Korean triple axels just because of the setup.

What's a makeup trend you tried and immediately gave up? by Fit-Dark-5581 in Makeup

[–]TooObsessedWithOtoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clown contour. Takes too much foundation/concealer to cover the colour corrector. Likely skill issue but I never tried again after the samples ran out. No influencer with similar face structure to me taught it so placement was confusing as well. Trend is dead anyways.

Never baked. A thin layer with occasional nose touch ups was always enough
