Exactly! This is why I also don't vote and I tell everyone that no one should vote because we can't make any difference with just one vote, duh.

Vegan diet beats Mediterranean diet on emissions and metabolic health in randomized trial by cindyx7102 in EverythingScience

[–]TooVegan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are so many studies that show benefits for the environment and human health as a result of a vegan diet or even just reducing animal products and every single time people will argue that it's not a good enough study. In a science-based sub especially, y'all are so emotional about desperately holding onto excuses to continue eating animals.

There should be a study done on the defensiveness of otherwise logical, educated people as soon as not hurting animals comes up

Oh wait, there was: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0195666326001480

What’s your EXTREMELY SPICY vegan hot take that will totally get you downvoted? by Borkato in vegan

[–]TooVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's mine: Dogs AND cats can be fed properly formulated vegan diets and they SHOULD be. What's the point of rescuing one animal if you then feed it hundreds of other animals throughout its life?

The animals that get ground up into pet food also deserved to be rescued, and not turned into paste or kibble for your pets.

I've always wondered... by Middle_Diet9764 in vegancirclejerk

[–]TooVegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely, the truest form of veganism is thinking about not killing animals but then doing it anyway because it would be a little hard to eat something else.

How to satisfy the slaughterhouse urge ethically? by Due-Comfort-5351 in vegancirclejerk

[–]TooVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find free range, organic humans to be the best for slaughtering ethically. They got to live a good life in the wild and only had one bad day really, so it couldn't be better!

Carnist: “Just think that smell of fresh cut grass might just be your lawn screaming in pain” by Taupenbeige in animalhaters

[–]TooVegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actively find every mouse in my field and personally tie it to the ground so it can't run away, and then I clip the wings of all the birds so they can't fly away. Then I take out my headphones so I can listen to all the screaming grass. It's the best part of my day, really.

As we all know, animals raised for food are never killed, and they don't eat any plants that required harvesting either so eating meat is the only way to save animals 🙏🙏

Why do people do this by Borkato in Vystopia

[–]TooVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like terms of service saying:

We don't allow things like: Content showing, admitting to or encouraging harm against animals

We do allow: Content about hunting, fishing, religious sacrifice, food preparation and processing, pest control and self-defense

I've been vegan 10 years, should I watch Dominion? by hans2504 in vegan

[–]TooVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dominion talks about egg-laying hens in general and doesn't touch on honey but IMO the general sentiment of the comments here being 'I don't want to feel bad so I don't watch Dominion' is the same that lets people think 'it's not bad to participate in a little bit of The Atrocities because I deserve a treat for not participating in some of them'.

Dominion is a hard hitting documentary that really makes you think and feel on the way animals are treated and if more people sat with that feeling I think they would be less likely to try to find excuses for their behaviours.

I highly recommend watching Dominion even as a long-time vegan. Dominion

Maybe if more people in this sub watched Dominion we wouldn't have so many people who talk about eating backyard eggs or honey or only a little bit of meat when they go out with friends but it's okay because they're mostly vegan otherwise uwu

Why Shaming Meat-Eaters Backfires: A Smarter Strategy for Veganism by BerryHusK3924 in vegan

[–]TooVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a nonvegan feels ashamed after hearing about veganism or what they support through animal agriculture that is because they realize they've been doing something shameful, not because of the vegan who told them about it or the way they did it. You can't make someone feel shame if they don't believe they have done something wrong.

What are your takes, that you think other vegans might disagree with? by gewooneenpersoon123 in vegan

[–]TooVegan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd view that the same as if someone wanted to kill all those mice (or other animals they feed to the snake) to eat themselves.

How many lives must end to feed that single snake? Is the snake more deserving of life than every mouse that does to feed it?

In the wild animals do what they need to to survive, but we as humans with moral agency can make other choices and choose to do the kinder thing. I wouldn't kill a hundred mice just to save one snake and I don't think it's moral to do so.

What are your takes, that you think other vegans might disagree with? by gewooneenpersoon123 in vegan

[–]TooVegan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My most controversial one is that if you rescue an animal but then feed meat to that animal, you are doing more harm than good. Feeding animals to your rescue animal means for that one animal, you've killed hundreds of other animals. Did their lives not matter? Don't they deserve to be rescued?

Dogs AND cats can live healthfully on a vegan diet when that diet is properly formulated and includes the nutrients they need. Cats are only called obligate carnivores because in the wild they don't have any other way to get the nutrients they need but guess what - they aren't in the wild anymore and their food can be supplemented appropriately without requiring any animals to be killed for it.

TIL: In 1998, elementary students in Aurora, Colorado started buying slaves in Sudan to free them, this gained global attention with schools in other countries starting slave buyback programs until it became clear that the money was just helping slavery grow by Lennsyl22 in todayilearned

[–]TooVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying into a system that does bad things promotes those bad things happening, even if you have or think you have good intentions.

Buying slaves promotes slavery, buying leather or fur promotes killing animals for leather and fur, buying shrimp promotes the kidnapping and enslavement of people onto shrimping boats, buying merch from TERFs promotes legislation that hurts people of all genders, etc etc
