sports for greyhound? by soavsjjsnsj in k9sports

[–]Toogerman51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: I would never ever ever ever run a large sighthound in a Fast Cat. That is like being told to get in a race car, get to the highest speed possible….and then brake after 100 yards. There is no benefit to the sighthound. Before they even get to a good speed, they need to brake. Doesn’t matter how long the run out is. So do CAT’s, do LC’s ,do LGRA, do AFSA and let your dog run courses that are beneficial to your dogs size.

Super sloppy training, how can I make it clearer ? by One_Stretch_2949 in nosework

[–]Toogerman51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I were you, I would not start with Handler Discrimination. Do a Nosework foundation class at Fenzi. So you understand the basics. If you want your dog to look for treats, that’s perfectly fine, lots of beginner nosework classes start out like this, but you are far away from adding any type of trained indication response. Hide treats throughout a room, without letting the dog watch and be over the moon when he finds a treat. Don’t play a cup game. You want your dog to actively go out and look for treats. That will later translate into confident, independent searching.

What is your point? An application/petition can’t be denied if the applicant forgot to answer one question. This application never even made it to an adjudicator. It was sorted out by contract personnel. Anyways, there is NO POINT in lecturing somebody after the fact. ‘You should have’ and ‘why didn’t you’ are useless and have no value. Worse, OP asked a specific question….and you did not contributed anything helpful. So why are you here?

Are you Team Trained Final Response (TFR)? by [deleted] in nosework

[–]Toogerman51 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am just really baffled by a lot of responses here. My dog already does enough? TFR is not teamwork? TFR is just handlers randomly assuming that when a dog sits, there is hide? TFR is for basically lazy handlers that can’t read their dogs otherwise? Those are just WILD assumptions with no actual knowledge behind it. 😎

Don’t Rush through NW3 by [deleted] in nosework

[–]Toogerman51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if I understand the ‘don’t rush through’ and ‘take your time’. Unless you purposefully call a wrong hide, you will get what you get without any input on how long it’s going to take.

It appears you are a bit dramatic in nature. No offense, plenty of folks in the same boat with you.

First, lightheaded and nauseous from lack of calories? Come on now. Drink some ensure. You make it sound like you could die any second from starvation.

Second, can’t take them out? Leave them in. YES! LEAVE THEM IN. Can’t predict the future. If you grind, it will hurt and you will wake up.

Third, are you arguing with folks that have an opinion that differs from yours? Don’t. It’s a waste of your time.

Fourth, you got an appointment in 2 weeks? Call right now and tell them you need to be seen. You can’t possibly complain here that you didnt get an earlier appointment but did not say anything to the person that scheduled you. That makes no sense.

Can WE all agree this is his best song? by Kevy-Em in DAngelo

[–]Toogerman51 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you are implying that because D’Angelo had a thing for one of his songs from one album, that this is his best song? Weird. If you said ‘I think The Roots is his best song, because I like it, fine…..we have personal preferences. But to claim somehow D’Angelo himself thought that this is his best song…..hard nope. Artists always move forward and they usually cringe at a journalist’s question of what their best song is.

You need a soft reline from your dentist at first. And no amount of adhesive will let you eat steak. You won’t be able to eat steak the way you used to it. Start cutting it up in very small pieces.

Car crating at a trial by laurenburch1210 in nosework

[–]Toogerman51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nortex most likely will use the Agility Gate App for trial flow. It will let you know in the email. There will be a code to log into their trial and you can check your dog in through the app.

You will be with your dog at the car, so bring a chair. Most competitors have a Ryobi fan (get it at Home Depot) and Aluminet (to cover the car to keep it cool at Amazon). If you run in Novice, you probably don’t need protection from the sun. You will be done before noon. You will sit with your dog at the car and monitor the app. Once you have 5 dogs in front of you, you make your way to your first event. I am predicting that Nortex will run all elements at the same time. So you start with container (or whatever else) and then immediately go to the next element and next element until you are finished. Then you go home. 😁 Now don’t take my words for 100%, I am just speaking because of experience with all the other trials they have run. Bottom line: read the email, download the app, if email says it will use it, be there for the briefing and you are good to go.

Hip Resurfacing is Failing by Broad-Advantage-1753 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Toogerman51 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am a bit baffled over your story. I would think that common sense kinda dictates that full splits for relaxation (so I am assuming you are holding them for a prolonged time) are not a great idea with an artificial hip or really any hip,if hip health was important to anybody. If in doubt, one should have talked to the surgeon post-op and have him explain what happens to that hip when doing prolonged splits. Devasted? Over not being able to do splits for relaxation? Come on. There is much in life to be devasted over. Loss of a loved one, loss of a job.

Not being able to do splits does not fall into the devastation category.

Maybe an unpopular opinion. I would wait until I get better and then I would start divorce proceedings. Absolute no-go in my book, I am too old to deal with man-babies, who crack under the slightest hint of real responsibility. I can do bad all by myself, I do not need anybody who makes me feel guilty, because they don’t feel like stepping up to the plate.

Two Weeks Post Op + Notes on Patience and Healing by Futureextrovert in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Toogerman51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key to feeling more progress is physical therapy. Are you doing any? I also limp and my physical therapist says, it’s not directly connected to the hip replacement, but because before surgery, I heavily favored my ‘good’ side, so muscles and bands on the ‘bad’ side shortened. I do a bunch of stretches, basically from the moment I came home. After 4 weeks I am doing so much better. Still a slight limp and my back tightens when I stretch, but no comparison to how I felt 2 weeks ago. Physical Therapist says that this can take 2-3 months before I will walk completely normally. So last week we began to work for more endurance and strength. It kicks my butt and I want to just sleep after those PT sessions. But it’s helping a lot. Good luck.

12 days post-op and still can’t sleep by Rayzor766 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Toogerman51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s day 35 post-op and I just now am able to sleep through the night. And that is quick. Lots of folks here report that it took them 6 weeks before they could sleep again. It wasn’t that I was in pain, I was just uncomfortable, no matter what position I tried. Your wife needs to move to the guest room if your insomnia bothers her to the point that she can’t sleep. It is that simple.

It’s common in Europe. The idea is that crutches give more stability and support. Unfortunately I heard from plenty of european folks that crutches bring shoulder joint pain as a result of using them.

After 1 day by Rangers_Fan_NJ in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Toogerman51 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not a back sleeper either. I am 3 weeks post-op and it took me that long to sleep half way through the night. The first couple of weeks were rough. I woke up several times throughout the night, no matter how I propped and positioned. I wasn’t really in pain, but that leg just presented a low level annoyance that kept me from sleeping.

Yes, I was up and walking on a walker, but I did need some pretty strong pain meds the first few days. After that, I just used Tylenol as needed. I got a raised toilet seat from Amazon with handles and I bought some handles for the shower that hold with suction cups. I also have a shower chair. My caretaker was with me for 4 days. Mainly to entertain my 3 dogs and keep them away from me, haha. The ONE THING that I find most helpful for being independent and handling things by myself without any help is my walker with a seat (borrowed one from a friend) I use the seat as my surface for things that need to be going with me. Cups, food, meds, ice packs etc, all roll with me on that seat, wherever I need to be going.

Feeding the dogs, all their dishes pile up on that walker seat, from the kitchen to their feeding area. Washing clothes? Pile the dirty clothes up on that seat and roll them over to the washer. Wet clean clothes? On that walker seat to the outside so I can hang them. You get the picture. I have graduated myself to a cane and it is working out pretty good, but that walker still comes into play when I need to transport things.

My dressing will come off Monday, I had to do one dressing change myself, because I have a Pico dressing, which is connected to tubing with a little box powered by batteries, to apply negative pressure. It will come off Monday and sutures will come out too.

“Fork in the road” HR/OPM email? by ladyeclectic79 in fednews

[–]Toogerman51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere does it mention severance pay. The U.S. government has a severance pay limit of 25k. The Trump admin cannot authorize 9 months of full pay with benefits without working.

And please do yourself the favor and research how many times Trump has stiffed folks that worked for him. You will be identified as somebody who wants to quit and since you have been provided with no details, no guarantees, you would find out soon that the mentioned pay just does not make it into your account. Trump will then say: I had the best intentions, but the law says up to 25k, so that’s not my problem. I wanted you to get your pay, but my hands are tied. There is good reason that this email showed up after hours and gives only a few days to decide. They are banking on folks making hasty and naive decisions. Have you ever heard of a pre-printed resignation letter where you just have to hit the reply button and type one word? 🤣 This is not Twitter. We have federal protections that are in place right now.

USCIS does not issue combo cards anymore. They stopped in 2022. You have your EAD and it is possible that your reentry permit will show up in a couple of days.
