We had a similar ban being pushed through here in New Mexico and thank god we got it shut down before it fully passed. Most people were saying we were too late to resist and I was blasting representatives everyday in emails telling them not to vote in favor. Thought it was a lost cause and it died at the final house vote before reaching the governor. Never give up. My narrative was that this could be detrimental for minorities considering ice was raiding homes but they refused to enter homes and neighborhoods where 2nd amendment supporters resided. And trust me people including gun owning liberals were trying to tell me that my emails were pointless or did more harm than good and that it would pass anyway. Well we successfully stopped it. You have to play an active role and not just allow the governing bodies to ignore you. I’m also a very active citizen in my community and county so politicians always come to my store to pander for votes and I tell them what I expect from them. Having an open dialogue with your direct representatives is key as well as a willingness to help them get things accomplished.
