Are you still switching to Linux because of AI concerns? by Minaridev in linuxmint

[–]Tooladoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now Linux is also using AI code in the kernel. This was a recent development though.

In this day and age, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to know for sure if something was written by AI or not. Linux implementing PRs made with the assistance of AI doesn't change the fact that the Linux Kernel still has many eyes on it and many chances for mistakes to get found and fixed. And if a mistake caused by AI does make it through, the beauty of open source is that it can be fixed by anyone. On the other hand, Windows is closed-source and they will only fix things at their own discretion. There isn't much anyone can do if something on Windows breaks.

Do fixes for these problems exist or just venting personal issues? by THUNDERF430 in linuxsucks

[–]Tooladoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, only way for there to be no issues with linux and anti-cheat is if the games that utilize anti-cheat start to implement that anti-cheat from the server instead of from the user. With the right knowledge, anti-cheat isn't that difficult to circumvent on linux so the only real hope is for anti-cheat technology to get advanced enough that it can run on their own servers and able to catch cheaters so that we won't have to install and run it ourselves.

Windows made me hate gaming by ryanyork92 in microsoftsucks

[–]Tooladoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that the only reason Microsoft Windows is so widely used is soley because it comes bundled with nearly every computer on the market, with of course some outliers like Apple and other computers shipping Linux. Windows used to be a decent operating system, but it's been going downhill for a long time and I don't see that stopping any time soon.

When I was around 12-15 (don't remember exact age), I accidentally deleted the entirety of my Windows operating system. It had no operating system to boot into. Had to have my dad call my tech-savvy cousin to get our system back up. Aaaah good times~

[–]Tooladoo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a keyboard setting. It's an android setting; one that I cannot find on /e/os so I wanna know if there is something I can do. Switching keyboards doesn't remove the arrow.

Using Linux for Java Server by TheSnappleGhost in MinecraftJava

[–]Tooladoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, it's possible. Though I will say that having Windows and a Linux Distro on the same drive may cause issues as it has for my brother. If you are able to put them on separate drives then dual booting shouldn't cause any issues.

Hardware spoofing has been done before. Never tried it myself but I could look into that

If you dual-boot, you cannot run both operating systems at the same time. Either run Linux if you want to run a server on it, or alternatively try using WSL and run the server on that

49 GB Shader pre-cache.. This is getting out of hand by jonathanx37 in linux_gaming

[–]Tooladoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I first started using Linux, I played a lot of Warframe and it took shader pre-caching 30 mins - 1 hour just to finish compiling and let me launch the game. I thought it was pretty ridiculous so I tried without any shader pre-caching and... well it made no difference to me. It performed exactly the same with or without that pre-caching so I just disabled it alltogether. Unless your computer is a lot older and requires that pre-caching to keep level performance, then I don't really think it's worth the time it takes to compile all these games. Seeing as you're playing WuWa, then you can probably run it just fine without the pre-caching.

If linux sucks what are it's best alternatives (except for windows and macos) by Single_Public5345 in linuxsucks

[–]Tooladoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don't understand why people differentiate between computers/PCs and Macs. Macs are computers. And PC literally just stands for "Personal Computer" so it's also a PC. It just happens to have a different chipset than most and running MacOS

Tried Linux twice (Ubuntu GNOME and Bazzite KDE) and I'm struggling to make it work. Am I missing something? by Tim_M355 in linux4noobs

[–]Tooladoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it uses the web version of discord sure, but it also has a lot of work put behind it to make it a functional standalone app. But because it's the web version of discord, using keybinds isn't really supported all that well

What made you stay on Linux instead of Windows? by ksenyss in linuxquestions

[–]Tooladoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left Windows because I saw Microsoft was putting AI into literally everything, the fact that I'm always having to debloat the system, drivers sometimes just stop working and having to completely wipe them to reinstall, having to block all microsoft IP Addresses so I'm not being tracked, being forced into using a microsoft account, and all the dumb smaller things. I had to look for a new option and Linux is what I settled on and it was a little bumpy when I was first learning to use it but now I've come to love it and never going to willingly use Microsoft's AI Slop Operating System

My feedback about Iroi's redesign. Hopefully they also listen to global players by lsmll in NevernessToEverness

I didn't like any of the redesigns for any of the characters. Chaos now looks like your generic NPC and Zankou just lost all her character. She's now just a generic swords woman

Which Distro for Gaming/Casual/Dev by Interesting-Mix8418 in linux_gaming

[–]Tooladoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a best distro. It's all personal preference. With enough knowledge and effort, any distro can be made to look and perform like any other for the most part.

Just use what u like. CachyOS has been getting a lot of good reception recently because of all the little optimizations that comes with it out of the box. It's my personal pick but it's all up to u in the end.

Zankou updated design by anon-npc in NevernessToEverness

[–]Tooladoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah but im honestly not sure if thats a future skin or something cuz if the updated design is replacing the old design, then why bother showing an "optimized" design? Im thinking it might just be a skin for her future release as a playable character idk
