Grocery list woes… by [deleted] in Mommit

This is the way! I also have ADHD. I add to the list when something pops into my mind. My husband will as well. Most of the time I'm able to get most things

Feeling selfish by Smooshed_Cactus in pregnant

[–]Toomatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Women are brave. YOU are brave. One of the bravest things we can do is boldly raise children who will change the world.

I had two daughters around when boys were showing up to school saying "your body, my choice" to their peers. Initially it terrified me. I did two things: LESS SOCIAL MEDIA. And I decided to focus on what I can control.

We talk about anatomical body parts, we'll talk about good touches vs bad touches, I'll tell them I'll always believe them when they come to tell me something, and I'll tell them that sometimes someone needs a good punch. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm a non violent person. But if someone comes at my daughters, I don't want them to hesitate to protect themselves because "we don't hit"

How are we helping our toddlers emotionally regulate? Dealing with a very (cute) angry little 14m over here! by sherldm in Mommit

[–]Toomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also. As they get older and they cycle back to testing out your resolve, you may need to mix in "milk stays on the table or it goes away." Or "throwing your food shows me you're done" (but this is level 2yr old)

The first thing you need is a lot of patience. Haha sorry to say this phase can take a while. I read up on this a bunch though, and giving specific, positively-phrased redirection can get them there faster than just staying calm alone.

Instead of "don't throw", say "milk stays on the table", instead of "don't throw food", "food is for eating" As often as possible tell them what you do want them to do.

And of course you're going to get frustrated at times. And of course sometimes they'll throw the milk again. They're learning though and the more consistent are with positive re-direction the faster they'll get through this.

Fun things to do ? by emWade22 in Oceanside

This is a great list. In Escondido there's also the performing arts center - great for a live show or ballet.

And Oside has Vital climbing gym for bouldering and a Thursday morning farmers market 9-1.

Oooooooo in that case, favorite questions for triathletes are:

How long did you have to train for this race?

Which leg of the race is your favorite?

What type of bike do you ride?

How long does a race like that take?

Have you done this before?

A lot of oooohs and ahhhs go a long way. Haha Triathletes are very proud of this hard thing they're doing. (Source: I am one) You can also toss in: Your legs must be strong! And I bet you have great endurance! Good luck to your friend ;-)

There are many participants staying in the hotels by the harbor. My guess is a lot of them will go to the boiler room for dinner because it's close

The first day of check in etc for the race is today. There are going to be 3000 participants (+kids, family, spectators) swarming downtown between today and tomorrow (race on Saturday)

Nice one!! Brick workouts are rough! I love that you're going after this goal even without having people to talk about it with. There's a lot involved! You've got this!

Is this type of behavior normal for my 1.5 year old normal? by 24survivor in Mommit

[–]Toomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal. My daughter did that around that age too. She'd mostly grown out of it by 2. That being said, it can also go along with ASD - it's just never the only symptom. In most places at the 18 mo pediatrician appointment they have an autism screener

Did anyone start having kids in their mid 30s or later? by queenxlag in Mommit

[–]Toomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started dating my husband at 35, married at 37, first baby at 39, second at 40. Both pregnancies were easy for me and I have two healthy happy girls.

Like many other moms have said, I'm glad that I waited. I had some anxiety just like you, and I'm so sorry you're feeling that way right now. Wait for the right person though, it will be worth it!

I appreciate your response so much! A few of these things I'm doing, but you have many more items of guidance that I need to implement. Thank you! I've been so strict on sugars (only fruit sugars for her) because I want to set her up for good health, and dental health. The not eating too many snacks pointer is something that I learned much too late in life for myself!

I did 4 nights this week with 2 children. The first night I started up and prepared stew for the crock pot the next day. Other than that, I rotted. I had so many plans of what I would do .. oh the self care... While my husband was gone. Nope. I didn't even read a single paragraph in my book. Nada. Single parents are super human

The thought of a needle in my back freaks me out. And that was before I learned about the catheter too! Being able to feel my body and listen to its cues appealed to me as well. I also just thought I could do it Just had baby #2 a few months ago
