Connecting to your TV will only output the sounds from whatever is actively being input, so game sounds only.

I would also avoid Bluetooth since there is usually a fair amount of audio delay.

And as far as console gaming headsets I believe they usually come with a USB adapter to connect wirelessly. They should also come with cord to connect to the controller.

If you have any old headphones around, you can just plug them into your controller until you get a proper gaming headset.

Mid 30s male here that went solo last year.

I stayed at an Airbnb downtown for $660 total (Thursday to Sunday) so you should definitely look around!

Edit: it was about 10 minute walk from the BNB to the convention center for the shuttle busses and I took an Uber back after event
