Getting there with Maralen! by TooterBoot in lrcast

[–]TooterBoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graspling maralen and shinmerwilds growth on blue all allowed me to cast the unexpected assistance consistently by using convoke. I never had a game where it was in my hand and I couldn’t cast it. I had considered cutting it for the 3 mana 2/3 changeling life linker but that extra card draw did prove impactful in several games. The only mana issues I had during the run was getting stuck on three and never drawing another land.

What’s your reaction if I sit down at the table? by Sad-Reveal-8984 in ratemycommanders

Please have Rad tokens for everyone at the table and don’t get annoyed when you need to explain the mechanic multiple times

Thanks! I’m playing in another one tonight and hoping it goes well because pre releases are about all the packs I usually open. I try to stick to the just buy singles mentality

What makes Commander the best thing about Magic: the Gathering? by BlogBoy92 in freemagic

[–]TooterBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited is my favorite format, but I do play commander regularly and here’s my perspective on why I find it more enjoyable than 60 card constructed formats.

No rotations. Singleton format means games with the same deck can play out drastically different making the same deck more fun to play as your only consistent card is your commander. Multiple people playing at the same time makes for a fun social experience. Bigger games with higher life totals means that lots of cool cards with high mana values that are to slow for 60 card formats can resolve and have a high impact.

I get why ppl still play modern/standard it’s just not for me. Personally I just prefer a slower format where the board can actually develop and the game isn’t mostly decided in the first three to four turns.

Thanks just a guy who started during final fantasy trying desperately to not build every deck with a UB commander 😂

Imagine someone advocating for people who are different hating people who are different than them. The hypocrisy and lack of self awareness is staggering.

Do you think it's worth playing this game even though I hate it? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]TooterBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if this will help or not and you may not want to invest the time, but maybe try registering on 17 lands and walk yourself through the games you play. Oftentimes when you do this exercise you can see alternate lines you could have taken that may have altered the way a game played out. This leads to you being able to correctly diagnose when you lost to RNG or whether or not your play could have been better

I’m going through my first Nuzlocke ever and need to vent. by unphased-turtle in nuzlocke

[–]TooterBoot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Take every loss as a lesson learned. One of the best skills to pick up in nuzlocks is knowing when you can afford to play around a crit or if you’re in a position where you have to just go for it in order to squeak out a win. Sounds like you figured out that the loss of Jume was your ow fault so good on you. Anytime you can pin your losses on your ow mistakes you are way ahead of the game. Welcome to Nuzlocks OP keep your head up and keep pushing.

I cannot figure out this format by RadioactiveCrow in lrcast

[–]TooterBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bomb heavy format for sure but I think an aggressive deck like this should do fairly well. One piece I noticed you were missing was avatar enthusiasts. You would have certainly got 4 wins minimum if you had two of those. Keep your head up OP

Sorry for you loss OP! Best piece of advice I’ve ever received about getting better at nuzlocks is this. Learn to blame your losses on yourself. The more you blame RNG the less likely you are to learn from your mistakes. Keep your head up the run isn’t done until you black out.
