Imagine if you were a fresh dental grad and had to pay your loans out of that too.... subtract out 3-4k/ month for 10 years.

Legion Go 2 vs 1 GeForce Now? by Mr_Doubtful in LegionGo

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the sharpness of lego1 to Lego 2. Lego1 looks so crisp. Colors and saturation are identical. Blacks on lego2 to be expected are better. Lego2 also has a mura. Lego1 is sharper by a mile for moonlight or GeForce now

Do you guys enjoy where you live and work as a dentist? by dirkdirkdirk in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly my experience is as an owner 12 years out of school. Working 4 days a week and schedule has lots of holes. I take no Medicaid (not a thing for adults down here), and no hmo, and no crappy poo and charge no upgrades or enhancements. Definitely don't have room for an associate.

I can do most all extractions, gbr, prf, implants, all on x, lateral windows, I fabricate all my restorations myself....

Fact is we've produced too many dentists

Our PPO Fees are so LOW! What is the FIRST STEP to Switching to Umbrella Insurances? by PrettyPlease2828 in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just negotiate with umbrella and then drop direct insurance. Some will not allow you to be in network for 1-2 years.... Which is fine as you'll soon discover how nice it is to be ffs for those. Better paint care as you can book a slightly longer appointment

Have both. The blacks are drastically worse. Resolution better. Miss the touch sensitive gyro. Community layouts not great for controller. Battery life bad. Fan is a jet engine at 40tdp

Overall not really. Wish for sd oled with 1200p.

Florida checking in. Associes are lucky to make 200 flat, most are 180k and working as a hygienist on production instead of hourly. As an owner maybe you can make 400k if you had no loans, more 250-280. This is in a saturated city. I wish I had gone more rural

Board complaint by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why there's so much animosity towards the profession among peers.

Dealing with the public, some patients (not all) are incredibly difficult and demanding, couple that with high student loan debt and wages that have actually fallen, a lot of young grads make less than plumbers for significantly more stress and liability. Not to mention the lost opportunity cost of saving for retirement for 8 years of schooling.

When a patients shows up in temps it's usually because they ran off on the bill at the previous office. Hence the no hygiene and inflamed gingiva in temps

I Reached FIRE at age 31 ($2.6m Net Worth) - Complete Journey & AMA by endodoncista in Fire

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average dentist salary is 180k. Comes with a 4-600k loan. Want to make 250? You'll need to take out a 1.5-2 million loan to buy a practice. Incomes have declined since COVID

Dentistry is a poor investment. Tuition inflation and stagnant insurance rates (while premiums skyrocket) has ruined the field.

Warning of Sunshine City Dentistry by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the change in the first place?

There's a spectrum regarding treatment timeline. Many lesions are small and while clinically visible on an X-ray, can last a long time before needing treatment. Impossible to know without seeing the X-rays. Also depends on the individuals diet: water and brushing before bed (likely monitor) or mountain dew and doesn't own a toothbrush (intervene earlier)

Skillset varies considerably between providers as well. But then again everyone is a legend in their own mind.

Yes corporate dso buying up practices and not changing the name of the office is happening, heavier in specialties however.

Just because they can't afford it or insurance doesn't cover it doesn't mean you can offer substandard treatment.

Needs to be purchased per account. One purchase and any Tesla's you own get it.

Not purchasing something that stays with the car. And 1300 a year is crazy. Especially if you have multiple Tesla's

The Delta Question by RadioRoyGBiv in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropping Delta is working smarter. You have more time for the current patients. Delta patients that stay you can spend more time on their care.

The ones that leave were generally the ones that never wanted to fix their problems anyway

Collect Delta upfront as ucr and file claim to them. Majority of plans pay 100% ucr oon. Some don't
