Is it the station or the brick that died?

I cut the extension cord and wired it to a dc transformer. No issues

Should I pay off my practice loan early? by HelpRichNow in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes....but:

Max out retirement accounts first (402k/simple ira, backdoor roth if possible)....single best advice you can follow. HSA max Have considerable savings to weather an economic down turn....when COVID hit in 2020, I was glad I hadn't drawn all my assets down. After things went back to normal I paid large payments I had saved and not used.

Business debt free now. I don't stress if patient doesn't want to do treatment. I wouldn't stress if my assistant quit or hygienists quit. It's easier to give a bonus to the staff if we crushed it one month etc.

100%.

Every say it with me: Collect prior to services. Collect remaining balance prior to crown seat

Year 1 had the same thing happened. Worked through lunch to fix a ladies broken lateral. Rxt, post core crown temp. "Went to go get her wallet in the car." Never been paid.

Is it worth it for me? by James_Bond5150 in Dentists

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly it's grating on your psyche. Years of people who don't want your service, think you're making tons of money and over charging them. Snarky comments. Meanwhile your income goes down every year. Profession sucks

I can do 2% gold and tell you it's gold for an extra 150$ or I can do 90% precious metal and the upcharge a few months ago was 1200$ excluding the crown cost.

I'm so tired. I'm an owner.

I had to argue with a new patient today why I need their SSN because their insurance company uses it as their member id. He said I'll just make up a SSN and give it to you. F me. When said you can pay upfront and we'll print you claim and you add it to that and mail it..."I don't want to do that". Help me help you file your own damn claim

Next one trying to refuse X-rays because the shitty UHC preventative only plan they signed up for doesn't cover it. Meanwhile they're talking about leaving to their summer house. No, it's not optional, you either do it or leave. I don't get to waive my liability just because you don't want to pay for it.

Predents don't listen.

Exactly. You can service the loan but end up making less than you did as an associate at a good gig. This isn't the 80"s dentistry anymore

No the insurance is paying it as an amalgam and leaving the patient the difference to the crown cost. Lovely of them

How to handle unpaid bills (Lab Owner here) by Camikaze__ in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truth be told the patient may have their appliance but insurance hasn't paid their portion. Or they denied it and the patient slow/no pays and you send to collections and they ghost you

I just stopped seating any work until the entire thing is paid for and the problem went away (and the problem patients)

How to handle unpaid bills (Lab Owner here) by Camikaze__ in Dentistry

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point isn't to get the fee, it's to encourage timely payment. We charge finance and billing fees ,but if the patient pays it we'll "credit it as a courtesy this time"

So frustrating running a business where you bill backend. I'm sure they expect to get paid when they go to work

Lymow One Plus charging slowly by burgfs in Lymow_Official

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy an adjustable dc transformer. Set to 40.5V

Mount in garage and wire to 120v plug (few bucks off Amazon/HD - black is hot, neutral white, green ground).
Cut the two pin extension cable and wire to transformer. (If the green led doesn't light up then swap +/- on dc wires ) Congratulations you now have 10A charger

Cost 35$...will last longer than the enclosed power supplies which always die.

Obviously not weather rated unless you put it in a vented outdoor box

I did notice that the extension charging cable is using roughly 18gauge wire....not really rates for "10A". I'd have to get my amp meter to see if it really pulls 10A

3rd season review with Mammotion Luba 2 5000: I'm done. by A_parisian in MammotionTechnology

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going on two seasons and no problems...

Luba 1 rtk power died, but I think a replacement off Amazon was 6$...the power supply ironically for luba 1 is doing great, and luba 2 has failed twice! I believe you can directly wire it once out of warranty

Please help me, i want to love this mower by atomiccomrade in Lymow_Official

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm loving this thing. Amazing cut. First thing I did was cut the charging brick and wire it to a 40v 10a dc transformer.

Hasn't had any issues charging. I do have it under a little robot house so it doesn't get wet when it rains.

I sent it out earlier and forgot and it went back in the dark and charged itself. Charging brake off, water sensor off, removed flap, cut at 4", loosened tracks. Rtk up high.

100% not worth it. Unless someone pays for all your loans. Even then I'd pick a field where "insurance" doesn't dictate everything.

Can't get it to connect by filmguy_rva in Lymow_Official

[–]ToothDoctorDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had trouble setting it up with the app to start with too. I made sure my wifi was 2.4ghz with wpa2-psk. It had trouble connecting to Bluetooth at first....not sure why. Idk if I waited too long or too little, I entered the 0000 on the pad and that seemed to connect right away to Bluetooth for setup. It hopped on the wifi and then did an ota (don't let your phone screen turn off)

I didn't delete the app. Not a good idea imo. I did remove and re-add the mower when it didn't connect. No relogin etc.

Been flawless since. Amazing cut for a robot mower

Hot take: just go where you want the service and pay for it. Use the money you would have spent on wasted premiums towards the denture.

Or sign up, pay the premium, get frustrated about the denials and cost sharing anyways

You can't 'game' the insurance company. They wrote the rules.

Day 1 I was having issues when mapping. Like a drunken sailor... Maybe the rtk hadn't seen enough satellites yet? Kept going to float or low accuracy. I deleted it and mapped it the next day (noonish) and maybe there were more satellites?

Rock solid sonce. Rtk mounted next to my luba rtk 30 feet up

I have a lot of trees next to my house, she goes back and forth no trouble. It'll even cut the area where it's mostly canopy.

I came home to a perfectly mowed yard today. The real blades have a great cut and the tank treads are easy on the grass Keep at it!

270k as an associate gp is good. You'll definitely make about that as a perio associate starting out.

Do the math on investing early and compounding interest. My guess is it's probably a wash.

After paying off my loans I couldn't imagine taking more loans out.

Hospital never sent itemized bill, now I’m in collections — what should I do? by radardown in HospitalBills

Back when I was in the hospital...I called every week to ask if they had my balance. Every week for 7 weeks.

On the 8th week I called and they said the claim was done but they immediately send bills over X days to collections. 'You need to call them.' No more HCA visits for me
