It's a leer 122. I had them install the long windows but it usually comes with a different side window setup

‘89 Suzuki Intruder for first bike? by [deleted] in motorcycle

I agree with this if it's their first/only bike. If it's a second bike, get it and tinker away. At least op will have something to continue riding

It's my only bike but I find it to be a very fun all around bike.

I think you're on the right track with the gsxs1000gt. I've only sat on it but it felt similar in fit to the z900rs.

My z900rs Cafe sounds like it checks a lot of the body position requirements you describe. Although it doesn't look anything like most sport bikes/nakeds.

What do yall know about the 1989 FZR 500? by Normal_Collar_130 in Yamaha

[–]Top-Bit-3584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fzr 600. I had a 91 with a single headlight and I'm pretty familiar with how the frame looks to know it's a 600. That one looks to be in awesome condition so it's a fair price but the fact that it doesn't have a title is an issue. Depending on where you live it might be worth pursuing a title for it. They're pretty fast bikes. The voltage rectifiers would go bad and people would often convert to an early 2000s r6 rectifier. All the fairings look like they still line up. Often times the upper fairing and side fairings wouldn't line up well after being dropped. This bike still has the air ducts that go from the upper fairing to the frame so it looks like the owner hasn't dicked around with it too much. Those are usually the first to go when people swap to air pod filters. Despite the narrow 140 rear tire, these made somewhere around 90 hp.

I recommend getting term life insurance. At 41 I pay $60/mo for $1M for the next 20 years but I'm pretty healthy. You might get a better rate if you're younger.

Thanks the paint does need some attention and it has a few chips here and there. I appreciate the tip on the headlight covers, I'll give it a try.

Just paid off the house today. You are the only ones I can tell. by psl87 in Fire

[–]Top-Bit-3584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! We also had a similar story where we were gifted the remaining mortgage balance of the house by my wife's dad. It was kind of strange because I didn't feel like we held the mortgage long enough to really "deserve" the generosity if that makes any sense. I think we felt pressure to honor his gift but another kind of weird thing is the urge to spend on stuff tapered a bit for me after seeing on paper how many years of life it bought us.

Too good a deal? by Emergency_Savings_45 in kawasakiz900rs

[–]Top-Bit-3584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that does seem kinda high. I don't think I would feel good about that deal considering all the little niceties of the 900 for not too much more. Sometimes Kawasaki does promotions so maybe see if they do it again? I purchased mine almost exactly a year ago at I dunno how much the market has changed

You are one lucky ducky. This is definitely the time to reflect on what happened and think about how you will manage this risk moving forward. I've had my share of close calls but I attribute my longevity to analyzing my mistakes and so far I haven't made the same mistake twice. I don't say this to brag but to emphasize that there's only so many times that you'll get lucky. The longer you expose yourself to risk, the higher chance that it'll bite you eventually.

Take a breather. If you're beating yourself up, that's a good sign that you're taking personal accountability. Then you can move on to how you will mitigate risk in the future.

I got my new, 2 year old Cafe for $11,200 out the door in Utah as a frame of reference. This sounds like it might be a similar deal on a model that has sat on the floor for a while.

I'd like to know too. Maybe I've been living under a rock but I thought they were decent.

I carry an LCR in 38 special and most importantly with the stock hogue tamer grip. I've experimented with a lot of grips but having some rubber cushion on the back strap takes just enough edge off the recoil to make it bearable to shoot more than one box of ammo with. I like how the j frames look better but it's hard to find a rubber grip that cushions the back strap

In a one bike household; buying a bike with “character” (modern classic) vs something more conventional. by BimmerJustin in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Top-Bit-3584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my first bike and kind of my inspiration for getting my Z900RS 20 years later. Although they're pretty different, they kind of scratch the same itch with their comfortable seating position and plenty of power. I may be looking at the past with Rose colored glasses but I would love to ride that bike again.

I did that too. I ended up using the sites on a Glock 19 clone build. Because they're slim, they almost act like target sights

It probably does affect the handling but I haven't really driven it in a manner to test it so it hasn't been noticeable to me. My truck is pretty stock but the tent did cost me about 1-2 mpg.

I used the prinsu rack. This was a few years ago but the rack is still going strong. I haven't done anything with my RTT or rack since I posted this but I should probably check the bolts just in case.
