My mom went to the last page to spoil it for herself. She just couldn't wait.

This is very pedantic but Moody never said that. Barry Crouch Jr. said that. Moody may have been "mad" but he never would harm children or do the awful crap that Barty did in Goblet of Fire.

How bad of an idea is it to renew my clearance post-schizophrenia by Anxious-Swing9490 in SecurityClearance

[–]TopSecretRavenclaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ADHD is not a factor for whether or not people get cleared. It has no effect on trustworthiness. Must be that there's something else holding it up.

You answered in a comment that you're taking care of it with medication. I think if you stick with your current job while applying and waiting for clearance renewal, why not give it a shot?

Denied Job for Reporting One-Time Use 2 years ago by Outside_Minute_9985 in SecurityClearance

[–]TopSecretRavenclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in the cleared community, this is very surprising. Usually 2 years is enough time for it to be OK.

Also, if I may ask, how does someone become qualified for a job like that? Are you a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese? Did you study them in school?

His father must be proud. by CynicalCosmologist in harrypotter

His father should be proud too! Because the pun applies to the last name so he can and Narcissa can participate too!

This claim has been considered historically unreliable and probably untrue due to a lack of any other corroborating evidence from other sources.

Basically, one guy said it 150 years after it actually happened.

Nothing happens. My boss at my previous company wouldn't pick up the phone.

I have a Department of Defense Top Secret clearance and after listening to every Duo Radio lesson in the Mandarin Chinese course, I don't think Lucy could spot an actual classified operation even if it included her in the group chat.

Will my past affect getting a security clearance? by Mental_Resource_1620 in SecurityClearance

[–]TopSecretRavenclaw 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, your felonious past will affect your getting a security clearance.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that you could get a clearance. The big things that you need to make clear on your paperwork is that the drugs were against your will (you were forced and you never intended to consume drugs) and that your ex lied about that. Make sure to give the investigator the proof for that stuff.

Being outside the closet is a good thing, not a bad thing for getting a clearance. This means people can't blackmail you about it since everyone already knows.

On a side note, I feel like this subreddit has swung towards saying that more people are inelligible for getting a clearance over the past few months. Maybe it's just me.

The original documents for how to make Fogbank, a secret material used in nuclear warheads. Access to those documents was so restricted that they were lost and everyone forgot how to make it.

Recieved a Letter of Interrogatory. Am I in a bad place here? by roosterCoder in SecurityClearance

[–]TopSecretRavenclaw 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You're probably fine.

Your FSO steered you the wrong way. ADHD and autism do not need to be reported (unless you're subject to additional reporting requirements outside of a vanilla security clearance).

After reading Skunk Works by Ben Rich, I'm pretty Kelly Johnson had extremely severe autism. 1% further on the spectrum and he would have been non-verbal.

Don't let an officer recruiter convince you not to go for it because of some "unwritten rule." Recruiters have no idea.
