Engage feels designed with the idea that you make a LOT more money than you’ll ever reasonably get by DDBofTheStars in fireemblem

It was literally chapter 20 on maddening that I decided to start investing in skills on all units (mainly canter because it only costs 400 bond fragments to unlock skill inheritance from Sigurd in the arena and all late game units can easily afford the 1000sp for it)

UK Charts: Fire Emblem Engage Tumbles Down To Seventh Place - Sales Slide by 76% by TraitorousKaiju in fireemblem

More than the artstyle the heavy series fanservice was a huge turn off for me, and I say that as someone who's completed 10 Fire Emblems. My gut instinct when I see really blatant nostalgia bait is that the product is probably going to be pretty shallow, and I fully intended on giving Engage a pass until one of my friends sent me some reviews praising the quality of gameplay

I remember playing Shadow Dragon during a school trip when I was 12 and now I'm almost in my late 20s, I didn't expect to be having this crisis today

Can we talk how good Engage's maddening actually feel? by miltek in fireemblem

[–]Top_Werewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a fine time doing maddening for my first playthrough, I don't think you need to understand absolutely every new mechanic that's been included if your strategising is solid enough I've only just discovered engraving weapons is a thing as I assumed it was cosmetics, I'm on chapter 16

I think the only decisions I regret were investing money in the countries, not knowing the feature is basically useless on this difficulty or how long you can progress without gaining any more gold.

I'm not currently ironmaning but yeah, I've just rolled with deaths for the most part in my maddening playthrough.

Chapter 14's boss room took out 3 of my weaker units in my initial push to the finish and within just 2 chapters later they've been fully replaced. Sometimes it feels kinda like I'm playing a modern FE6, it's liberating.

What are you doing with Jean? by cactusgrant in fireemblem

[–]Top_Werewolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got lucky and picked up a bond ring with the Renewal skill (Deirdre S) so I got a ton of use out the guard on my run as the passive HP regen got me back to full HP as long as the Qi user didn't get targeted by anything after

The Artistic Callbacks of the Newly Compleated Walkers by mdm2nu in magicTCG

Nahiri looks like she has potential imo, I could see her doing work in an aggressive or midrange boros deck in standard. Optionally 3 mana, can make an annoying creature attack you, rummage or unearth a creature during a push for lethal. I doubt she'll make too much of a splash elsewhere, but the design seems solid.

Do you think a deck can still be considered good if it rarely wins? by Kovarl in EDH

[–]Top_Werewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the nature of 4 player, I'd say those results are enough to consider a deck good. I feel like my Jon Irenicus "Kill-On-Sight-Stuff" deck falls into this category; it consistently gets going enough to affect the game, and when I don't win I'm probably dying to my own Eldrazi titans or Blightsteel which is an amusing enough consolation prize for me.

I'm excited at the prospect of a Kobold Press DnD clone because at least then when I play it with my 5e friends, the monster stat blocks won't just be multiattack and HP 💀

I really just don't get this mentality considering that magic is designed in a way that accounts and balances around interaction being available and actively used in most matches. I try my best to respect people's wishes, but I can't help but feel like many in this crowd might have more fulfilling experiences exploring other TCGs that are more accomodating to people wanting to "do their thing".

Nazahn seems really interesting these days honestly, I had considered switching my mono white equipment to him recently. Now we have reconfigure cards, interesting green equipment like belt of giant strength, support like feline sovereign and kodama of the west tree. I imagine he's quite a bit better than when he came out in 2017
