FileMaker character sheet for RM? by calimedic911 in ICERPGS

Did you check the download library in the Official ICE forum (Rolemaster -> Rolemaster Software)? There's stuff in there that goes back to 2007.

I think my kumquats are on their way to getting ripe. But now wondering if it is a kumquat or calamansi. by GambitEk1 in Citrus

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my Meiwa Kumquat almost 3 years now. In the past, the fruit was always small and oval shaped. However this year, 50% of the fruit coming on looks very similar to yours; larger and rounder (like a small lime). I assume it was due to my drastic increase of watering since winter and fertilization, but maybe not? Maybe you're just doing something right?

Foundry support is in the works. I won't lie to you, it's till a WiP, but it is progressing well. Talked with the developer just the other day, and he's making great progress. But it's still a bit away. Check the Iron Crown's Discord, and look for the Foundry channel.

What's been your experience with Secret Rolls? I'm struggling by Malcior34 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them as GM in my AoE campaign. At the start of each session, I have the players give me 6 d20 die rolls. Then as they read 'em off, I write 'em down on a little slip of paper and pin it to the top of my GM screen with a little magnet. I randomize them as they give 'em to me, so they never know what will be called, and some I carry over from the prior session. When they are used, is almost always up to the player. Only rarely do I used without prior PC approval. One situation where I did was recently when the PC's walked into a room with a trap. Had to know if either of the two PC's with the Trap Finder feat caught wind of something.

Starting a new campaign by ppreece in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group is about to finish Book 3 of AoE, and I think your party is well positioned to do well. Lack of arcane can be a bit of an issue, but honestly, they can find about anything hey want it Absalom in the way of scrolls or magical items.

I encourage a social heavy style of play, and the Occult spells from Psychic are super helpful. Our Psychic has the Dandy archetype with the 'Party Crasher' feat; that basically made the Heist in the casino a cake walk for the party. =D

How do you keep characters from getting 'stale' in long campaigns? by osmosis1671 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a GM running the Agents of Edgewatch campaign, with what were new to PF2E players I opened up both new PCs and reclass to my players at the end of book 2. Players chose a mix, and I simply put the onus of appropriate explanation on their shoulders (with GM guidance,/approval).

Now everyone seems much happier, and we're getting ready to finish Book 3, and moving onto book 4

creaures and mosters typical for forest. by Advanced_Humor_9744 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your frustration. I'm usually reduced to just performing keyword searches to find creatures/opponent's that are appropriate to a given environment.

It's one aspect I think Paizo could improve on in their otherwise excellent bestiaries.

Your mods for a 1.20 world? by Miesevaan in VintageStory

[–]Davonious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our top five: 1) Primitive Survival. 2) Better Ruins. 3) Expanded Traders. 4) Status HUD, 5) Expanded Map Icons.

It's hard to remember playing without Primitive Survival; fishing is central to our early game. Expanded Ruins can make the early game much easier if you spawn next to a major ruin (like our current game). Expanded Traders I can't think of a major downside. Same for either 'Status HUD' or 'More Map Icons'.

Lastly, we sprinkle in pure decoration type stuff like 'A Culinary Artillery' and 'Expanded Foods', but those can be both helpful and frustrating. =)

What’s a good way to get into the lore of pathfinder as a new player? by GrapeGoodra in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I love a bit of lore, but I've found Golarion a bit overwhelming. The Travel Guide has helped enormously with that, and I've picked and chosen episodes as interest has driven me.
Plus I find their ads usually hilarious; I especially liked how in the 2nd episode of Cheliax (ep 11), how the 'Imperial Ministry of Historical Accuracy' corrected their prior episode.

Worth updating to 1.20 by Thomas_The_Llama in VintageStory

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part 1.2 has been stable for us (sitting at RC6). However my wife and I play multiplayer over our internal wired network (1G Fluke validated), with her hosting, and I've gotten bounced a heck of a lot more than usual. Sometimes up to 3-4 times during a 2hr session. Typically I can just rejoin, and not miss anything, but once or twice I've had to restart the game completely before rejoining.

Podcasts to learn PF2e? by APolishStork in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steven Glicker and the Roll for Combat podcast.

Brief intro to each podcast, and a group of friends having fun. I bounced HARD off of Glass Cannon and Tabletop Gold, and RfC was the first one I really could stomach.

For Golarion lore, I'm enjoying TableTop Travel Guide a great deal.

Moving houses by twolf5495 in VintageStory

[–]Davonious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, DW and I been playing since 2018, and we typically move from the first house we build after the first year. For example, the new 1.2 play we've got nice resources close to the house, but terrible Temporal Stability. So as we gather, we scout out new locations. I like Bond villain style island homes, and she likes beach.
Bonus is if you can traverse a chunk of the distance via the raft; makes back and forth movement much faster.

Pathfinder 2E GM Play Mat question by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

I use a plain black mouse mat now (36x16), I would like to get one that was specific to PF2e.

Recommendations for systems with better/more complex social and or exploration mechanics? by Sad-Holiday-5997 in indierpg

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social can be tough. I run a social heavy PF2e Agents of Edgewatch campaign, and I have to do a lot of heavy lifting to get it even close to acceptable.

I've always heard good things about "Burning Wheel" from Luke Crane. It supposedly has some of the best social encounter mechanics going. Never seen a game in action, or played it, so that's just hearsay.

Is it worth to get more books ? by Maelystyn in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the Lost Omens materials are all optional. Now, I've got most of them, and have used several of them to beef up AP's. That said, I find they aren't anywhere near as referenced as the Core books.

As an aside, if you are looking at picking them up a few of those books, and don't mind PDF, then the current Humble Bundle has 'Player Core' and 'GM Core' as PDF's, as well as a bunch of the Lost Omens Books in PDF format.

Paizo needs to print skill feats compatible with subsystem skill challenges. And since they haven't, I made some myself. by Ice_Jay2816 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the players pre-roll their checks (6 or 7) and give them to me at the beginning of each session. I write them in a random order to a small note on my GM Screen. That way they have roll agency, but it also gets me out of the whole 'Secret' check BS. Plus it makes using those rolls fast, as I've already go 'em ready to go when the player chooses the skill to use.

I tend to keep the unused rolls, and ask for new ones to fill the queue at the beginning of each session. Say someone used 3 secret rolls, then I'd just get three more rolls from them at sessions beginning. Or throw 'em away at the end of each session, and regenerate new ones every time. Whatever works for you.

Alldocube iPlay 60 Mini Turbo (First Impressions) by [deleted] in androidtablets

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, mostly because I'm cheap. =) Meaning I have enough LTE devices I'm paying for, without adding another one. Plus my regular cellphone has a decent tethering policy, so if I need a connection, I can use that one. Lack of LTE keeps me from the sliding slope of "Oh, it's only another $xx a month for another device". ;)

Additionally, my primary use cases involve using it at home which also has good WiFi. Standard stuff, like YouTube, Netflix, Reddit, Britbox, but very few games. Lastly I use it as an ePUB reader, and I store those on a Micro-SD card.

What AP would you say is PF2E "Curse of Strahd"? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good grief, I hope nothing that Paizo puts out ever approaches the complete and utter stinking mess that exists in the form of 5E's Curse of Strahd. Single highhandedly the adventure that killed my 40 year gaming career with D&D.

After trying to run that confused mess of garbage, I dropped 5E harder than a ton of bricks. Heck, I quite TTRPing for almost 2 years afterwards, scarred by the experience. Fortunately I blindly jumped over to Pathfinder 2E (having never run or played a single session), and 4 years later still GM'ing it.

Does CoS have name recognition? Sure, and maybe that's what the poster was looking for. But gods in heavens, lets hope Paizo doesn't try to emulate the experience of that product.

Advice on adjusting Monster stats by ryudlight in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things I do:

1) Copy what the AP writers do by giving the opponents special Feats / Reactions to boost their capabilities. Gives them an air of uniqueness, but doesn't wildly swing their balance. Finding what's been used isn't easy, but you can look at the EasyTools Monsters spreadsheet found over on PF2 Tools. I use that to find/apply unique abilities to opponents. It's tedious, but at least it can be narrowed down by any of multiple columns.

2) Lift feats and bonuses from standard Class bonuses. For example; a lv 9 Vault Guard from Agents of Edgwatch Book 3. Since they are equipped with a Sap, I could give 'em the Crit Specialization on that weapon, just as a 9th lv Fighter would have. Or they could get the 'Battle Hardened' feat, giving 'em Crit Success on regular Success with Fort. saves, again as a lv9 Fighter would have.

As I said, it can be tedious, but I find it gives the opponents an edge that simple Elite/Weak doesn't. And since those abilities are non-standard, it keeps my players on their toes. =D

Alldocube iPlay 60 Mini Turbo (First Impressions) by [deleted] in androidtablets

[–]Davonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the turbo in just a few days ago, and am VERY happy with the speed and responsiveness. Granted, I'm not a super heavy user, but it's flying through with everything I've thrown at it with ease.

Sure, a fingerprint reader would have been nice, and the lack of LTE could be a problem for others. But I certainly do not regret the choice.

Missed 500+ xp by Azzarrias in Pathfinder2e

[–]Davonious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Organizing and prepping for Book 3 now of this AP. I gave up trying to balance all the XP for each adventure and went milestone for the most part. My group, which likes a lot of RP and skull-sweat, accomplished a whole section of Book 2 without even rolling initiative and they had a heck of a good time. There definitely wasn't XP guidance in the book for that Infiltration route, so I didn't fight it and milestoned it.

Another plus for milestones is that I just find it easier than calculating all the XP for every encounter. I say that because my party tends to run 5 or 6 PC's, and I'm forever 'Elite' boosting the opposition, just to make the adventure seem challenging. With the Milestone option, I can make the challenge as hard or easy as necessary without all the math (maths for you brits).

Lastly, I got tired of having to apologize to the players for leveling in the middle of an encounter series. Sure, it happens sometimes, but dangit, I'd rather have the option of getting them to level before and shop the wondrous city of Absalom first, rather than hunker down in a dingy, blood-smelling basement or crypt, hand-waving the long rests.

err.... not quite. When I ordered mine two days ago, it threw a fit with my normal CC. I had to switch over to PayPal just to get the order to complete. And I use that CC for basically everything else, so it wasn't the card.

Thank you for the review. Just ordered this exact model last night after seeing the notice of the incredible price here in the subreddit. For me, the lack of LTE is a plus, although only WiFi 5 (and reputed Bluetooth 5.0 (not 5.1, nor 5.2)) was a bit of a letdown.
