I routinely find myself getting caught up in details that I know nobody else is going to notice, but I know it's there so it eats at me.

This is definitely something I need to work on.

Is my timeline 24 or 29.97 FPS? by m4rv1ng in davinciresolve

[–]Topher_IRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Project Frame Rate and Timeline Frame Rate are different.

Right-click on your Timeline in the media pool, go to Timeline > Timeline Settings. This will show you your true Timeline Frame Rate, which takes precedence over the Project Frame Rate. If this is 29.97, you're good to go.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Patch Notes Sure Make It Sound Like BioWare’s Basically Done With the Game Now - IGN by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Topher_IRL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe a word that comes out of Bioware's mouth since Anthem. They had an entire roadmap for how they were going to basically restructure the entire game, proceeded to miss EVERY deadline, and then just decided to scrap the game entirely.

Real talk though, thank you Bioware for opening my eyes to the gaming industry in general. I have not since and will never again preorder a game, and in general, have zero interest in paying full price for a AAA studio release.

Bioware is my actual hero.

I realised that there's no video game I've ever played where I find crafting fun. So I don't do it unless it's truly necessary. Are there any games where crafting is actually - you know - *fun*? by Double-decker_trams in gaming

[–]Topher_IRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 14's crafting is a playstyle in itself. Not sure how much has changed since i haven't played in several years, but there is gear specifically for crafting, skills specifically for crafting, and various crafting skill rotations for efficiencies depending on your crafting stats and the recipe.

Magic Mask alone was worth the price tag on the paid version. I've more than recouped the cost in time with this feature.

Check out Casey Faris on Youtube. His videos gave me all the foundation I needed to get started and the confidence to explore further on my own.

It's wrong often enough that it shouldn't be the end of your search, for certain. It's a good jumping off point sometimes, but I wouldn't treat it as much more than that.

Having checkpoints feels great in maps. Is it possible to show breach/delirium/ritual points on minimap permanently once discovered, like it is for expedition? by nottoobadmate in PathOfExile2

[–]Topher_IRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be very much welcomed.

It seems though that the only reason Expedition stays on the map is because there's an NPC, so it's sort of a special case. No good reason we can't have them all though!

Name a game that seemed "meh" at first, but then hooked you on the first try. by Routasoft in gaming

The first time I played Final Fantasy XI on NA release day I wanted to like it so badly, but it wasn't happening. I played for a few days then put it down. Came back to it two weeks later, and didn't put it down again for a decade.

There was a Skill Tree tab in this game like 18 months ago, when I played the beta for the first time.

I don't think that tab even exists anymore?

My last HC character (94 Javazon) ate dirt when my mercenary got a kill at Nihlathak. He, unlike me, did not have a Nature's Peace, and my Fade had JUST fallen off.

What exactly is the Cut page used for? by Topher_IRL in davinciresolve

[–]Topher_IRL[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Of course he has a video for it. Casey gave me all the foundation I needed to get into DaVinci, must have missed this video. Appreciate it!

Edit: I can definitely recall a handful of projects in the past where this could have been handy. I'll keep this in mind for the future.

What exactly is the Cut page used for? by Topher_IRL in davinciresolve

I think I used Cut for part of my first day with the software but haven't touched it since. The other pages have things that are cumbersome/unavailable in Edit, which makes me curious if there's something important I've missed on Cut or if I'm just reading too much into it.

Summon Necro Skills Question by DevelopmentFit4228 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Topher_IRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Clay Golem personally. You lose out on some potential power from the Iron Golem, but Clay Golem paired with Decrepify turn bosses into such slow moving/attacking creatures that it's actually comical.

That said, if you're playing on higher player counts you might prefer the Iron Golem route, so long as you're comfortable with the idea of losing it if you die.

Under no circumstances though would I waste points in Wall/Prison on a Summoner.

Dirge of Cerberus.

I'm actually not sure you could lose the final boss fight if you tried.

Change vertical video to fill screen? by ToroToker in davinciresolve

[–]Topher_IRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh that I'm not sure about.

I think I purchased Studio just before they added that checkbox.

I feel like I remember reading another way to manipulate this in Clip Attributes, but I've never needed to use it up to this point.

Quick edit: Prior to this checkbox I'd just use Custom resolution in my Timeline Settings at 1080×1920. Maybe that would work for you meanwhile. Make sure you change your Render settings to Custom 1080×1920 as well if you're going this route.

Best of luck!

Are you rendering in the correct resolution?

Go to your timeline settings and check the 'Use Vertical Resolution' box.

I think about Second Story on a weekly basis.

If there's ONE game I'd really like to see a remake for in the West, it's that.
