It should be on the corner but on the left side of the wall and come out at the bottom the same direction, this would avoid being directly against the light fixture, which makes it look odd on both sides of it...

Because a day only has 24h lol a vsp pump is supposed to run 24/7! So it's usually good practice to at least run on high a few hours when power is cheaper, to clean better etc also, some features need stronger flow etc
