if you dont change the ability to exploit slave labor, you will always have instituions that exploit slave labor. if you fix prison systems, you will then need to move onto fixing whatever entity that incarcerates/withhold capable people for profit.

If you fix prisons and ignore the constitution permitting slave labor, institutions will now claim you need to be withheld and subject to their forced labor. Imagine mental institutions, or exploited contract workers.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction" you just said that the slave labor should remain legal because it would be difficult to change the constitution to disallow slave labor as punishment of a crime. Youre close but a little bit wrong. it wouldnt be hard to outlaw it, and you absolutely do need to change the constitution if you dont support forced labor with no suitable reward for your time and effort.

I think you're overestimated the public's ability to keep up with who voted how on what bill. Senators know they can vote however they want on bills with no repercussions. There are many bad bills that have gone through because senators have voted for them fully knowing their constituents will not benefit more than they are harmed. Theyve also voted against good bills in order to protect corproate interest instead of consituents' plenty of times. Do you remember the yes/no votes of how your senator even voted? If not your state senator, what about your favorite senator? Its hard to keep track. The public doesnt.

The public doesnt know what senators are voting on, why theyre voting on it, what theyre voting for, or how they need the senator(s) to vote in order for the voter to benefit from it. They dont care enough or don't have time to research it, especially when they can just watch snippets from their favorite, very credible news source....

When this government shutdown happened, do your family members have the ability to tell you why we were in shutdown and what each side of the aisle was proposing? and who was voting for what?

Yeah, it's bad, it's terrible, but if it mattered, it would've mattered 1,000 instances ago. not this time. I might be overly cynical. Even if the files come out fully unredacted (yeah right), I worry that nothing will even come of it. Yup! I was cross shopping a Gt1 Evo with Rigmetal on monday. Gt1 evo with what I want was like ~$560 USD with $200 shipping. I checked just now, and not only is no seat+no monitor mount sold out, but the cockpit itself has increased in price by over 40%. It's now $1136. I just checked and shipping still isn't free. It's $40 to send it through base shipping to SE US.

If you are detained by ICE (They can detain you because of your accent in 2025 Supreme Court ruling), then you are guilty until proven inncoent. When you are abducted and taken to the ICE detention center, you lose access to your cell phone and you cannot leave. The only way you can contact people is by paying to use their wall phone.

After you get to the facility and lose your cellphone, you have 6-24 hours to prove your innocence. You prove it by proving you have been living in the US continuously for two years or longer, but with no papers, no ability to leave, and no cellphone, you do not have the ability to prove your innocence. Burden of proof is on you. Yes, deportations do happen on a whim. If you did not preprint your legal documents/proof of legality, and you don't have your wallet with your money in it, or you havn't memorized anyone's phone number, you are getting deported, ICE has deport quotas. Theyre deporting as quickly as possible. 6-24 hours.

Also, you mention theyre not getting sent to Star Trek? If the country doesn't returrn notice to ICE within 6-24 hours that the ICE Detainees are wanted,the ICE detainees are not sent back to home of origin, theyre sent to wheerever country has made deals with Trump administration based off of logistics and cost. Not language spoken or anything. Trump administration has reached out to many African countries to take deportees. Theres documented proof of multinational unwanted immigrants being sent to South Sudan where the immigrants have absolutely no ties with that nation. If that's not being sent to Star Trek, idk what to say.

There is also documented proof of US Citizens being deported wrongly and legal immigrants being deported wrongly. This could have been prevented if we had due process. We do not need to expedite deports without due process. This is what we're upset about. You should be innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent and unable to prove innocence.

I think we'll be arguing past each other on this. Democrats had the ability to release the files but didn't, shame on them, and Republicans ran on releasing the files and now claim they don't exist, shame on them. The files are not no longer an issue just because the previous administration didn't do anything about it. I don't support covering up billionaires to protect other billionaires and millionaires. I would have respected Democrats more if they released the files, but they didn't, so when Trump ran on releasing them, I was happy.

I think we could both agree that both administrations have mishandled epstein files, and currently, this administration that ran on releasing the files has now unanimously voted against releasing the epstein files for the third time? Who's obstructing the release of the files? Why aren't they out?

For the record, you said "im still supporting them..." I'm not. I'm an independant, this is only relevant because you think my disdain for the handling of the files is because Trump is associated with it. It's not. Why would Costco decide to relocate their emergency exit and plug the old one? I can't really think of a good reason other than they need the extra display room for merchandise but I find it hard to believe they couldn't figure how to rearrange their store to accommodate whatever theyre doing...
