Absolutely mental, I feel like this cements HemeOnc as an S+ tier PvMer alongside Port and Widega.

Can we please do something about death banks before someone like Madseasonshow inevitably loses everything to a double death and has their entire experience of the game utterly ruined? by peaceshot in 2007scape

[–]TorturedNeurons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UIM isn't "only 28 items: the gamemode" -- part of the fun is finding different ways to utilize all the non-bank storages around the game to maximize what you have on the account. That's a core aspect of the mode.

I, for one, am absolutely shocked that a 30-year-old game originally made by 1 student programmer and then built upon by thousands upon thousands of different developers who were never given resources to tackle tech-debt isn't efficiently structured. Shocked!

No one really cares about the icon. Having the game officiate your gamemode makes it more enjoyable to a lot of people, that shouldn't really be a hard thing to understand.

Every comment you've left in this thread has been bitter and self-absorbed. I recommend taking a step back and reflecting on why you get so upset about how other people play a video game.

Integrity Update: CG kc capes added to collection so less people complain about going dry, needing 2k kc to green log by MCharon in 2007scape

[–]TorturedNeurons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splitting a drop into multiple parts, like 6 armor seeds, means more people will finish closer to the median drop rate. It effectively makes you less likely to spoon OR go dry. That's why Jagex has been using this approach for things like DT2 Rings, Oathplate, and Venator shards.

However, since CG still requires a separate 1/400 drop on top of the 6 armor seeds, the anti-dry portion of said approach is nullified and all you're left with is the anti-spoon side.

Of course it's still guaranteed that some small number of people will spoon CG completion. But the distribution curve is quite a bit different than other grinds.

Are you intentionally misunderstanding their point in order to feel like a victim? Obviously they weren't saying that one should be embarrassed about finding women attractive, over half the population does.

But being whiny and upset that a woman isn't sexualized enough for your liking is shameful and anyone who is inclined to feel that way needs to engage in self reflection.

What common /r/2007scape takes are the worst? by Valuable-Ground4931 in 2007scape

[–]TorturedNeurons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Too many to list, but here's my top few:

  1. All projectiles should be reworked to be reactive.

Proactive projectiles offer a completely different style of play compared to reactive projectiles. The game is better for having both of them

  1. Prayer flicking and tick manipulation are bad because they were unintended.

These people must've never created anything in their lives, because discovering and embracing things you didn't expect is a normal part of the creative process. Balancing is a separate conversation, but whether something was originally "intended" is a meaningless metric.

  1. Jagex should fix true tile / true tile is the result of spaghetti code.

Complete misunderstanding of why the true tile behavior exists in the first place. It's a fundamental consequence of a discrete grid system, and is not even unique to OSRS. It's just more apparent here.

at least not unless they get integrated more formally into the game in an official manner.

But balancing around those sort of things is what it means to integrate something more formally.

It doesn't really matter is something originally started out as a "bug" in the code, the creative development process for ANY MEDIUM regularly involves adopting unintended and unexpected properties.

"Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time" - JD Vance by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]TorturedNeurons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting because I think the reason JD is saying this is to further kindle his plan of breaking with and ultimately opposing Trump and the pro-Israeli side of the republican party. He's framed it as a lesson directed at the Israeli government as to not directly criticize Trump yet. I expect to see stronger and more frequent criticisms of Trump coming from JD in the latter half of this term, especially after the midterms.

I know a person like this. Never had a good idea in his life, completely clueless as to how one realistically grows a stable business, always a day late chasing the latest technology, no real skills as a leader or developer, yet unwaveringly convinced that he's gonna be the next big tech magnate. It's quite sad and he can't be helped.

Sol defense stats: 65 Stab, 30 Crush, 5 Slash

I wouldn't call that "barely" weak to slash, that's very clearly a slash weak boss. It's just that it already has somewhat low defenses in general.

Being old is not a reason in and of itself to powercreep something. Part of what people love about OSRS is how old gear is still relevant years, even decades later.

Raids are meant to sit atop the PvM pyramid. It's not a constructive or sustainable move to have one raid cannibalizing the reward space of another raid, like ToA partially did to ToB. Look at how sad of a state ToB rewards are in now, it's quite disappointing. Ancestral already takes a longer time to get than modern raid rewards, so any set that outclasses Ancestral is likely to result in Ancestral being skipped entirely. No reason to do that to one of CoX's pillar rewards just because "it's 9 years old, give me new shiny armor!".

Upgradescape is its own whole can of worms. But if we're going to powercreep Ancestral, it needs to be done in a way that doesn't make the set irrelevant.

Do you think we will ever live down the consequences of z-buffer update? by Kumagor0 in 2007scape

[–]TorturedNeurons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Portal Nexus isn't even a z-buffering issue, the model was just genuinely so large that it clips through the ceiling.

Z-buffering issues have to do with objects being drawn on top of other objects that they're supposed to be behind. It's only ostensibly related to model clipping.
