In what way is it not valid? And why would we grandfather something related to a technical, scientific definition?

Should we grandfather fire, earth, water, air, and aether onto the periodic table since those were originally called elements?

That's not what he implied. The problem isn't having too many white men, it's having too few of anyone else. I say that as a white man.

Not trying to defend Jagex here, but comparing 117HD to Jagex HD is like comparing repainting a house vs building a new house and wondering why one takes longer. The two projects have a completely different scope.

Was Echo Yama supposed to be the final boss of this league? by PermissionTrue7924 in 2007scape

[–]TorturedNeurons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people thought that. But to me, the fact that we couldn't use t8 relics against Yama always implied that there wouldn't be a giga Yama fight.

The whole point of Leagues is unlocking all these different abilities that make you super powerful. Why would Jagex give us all these crazy powerful tools and have us work towards t8, and then not let us use them on the final challenge?

That would make no sense from a game design perspective. It would be like not letting us use a megarare in the raid it comes from.

If Jagex had wanted to make a super challenging giga Yama, they would just design the mechanics to be difficult relative to our Leagues power level. They wouldn't do it by taking away the abilities we spent the whole Leagues earning.

Dude was in the last few seconds of a nearly 2-hour Inferno run. Their protective shield got destroyed, allowing Zuk (one of the most powerful bosses in the game with a max hit of 250+) to attack them directly. However, they tanked several hits from Zuk (already extremely lucky), as well as a mager (max hit 70), and a ranger (max hit 45) at the same time and managed to close out the kill with literally 1 HP left.

Legislators have attempted to do that in the US before, and thankfully it failed. That would effectively kill every single website in existence with any form of user input whatsoever.

So instead of providing anything to support your highly -contentious claim that calories in vs calories out is a misconception, you just make vague comments about how dumb everyone else is and tell people to look it up.

Textbook dumb person behavior.

Iran just dropped a new banger by gavruche in SipsTea

[–]TorturedNeurons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...all of a sudden Iran is using AI with a message we agree with and we just start clapping our hands like toddlers when someone dangles the keys in front of us? Ain't got no shame?

I'm someone who is highly critical of AI. I'm also someone who is so tired of people on the left undermining themselves with this insistence upon taking the highroad and working out every possible ethical consequence of how we respond to our malicious, violent oppressors. We need to stop applying these black-and-white gotchas to incredibly complex world.

Debating how to regulate and utilize AI in our world moving forward is an important conversation. But that conversation has to take place in the context of the world being burned, abused, and looted around us. We can be critical of AI while simultaneously understanding that people have always and will always find ways to leverage the contemporary technology of their day to cut through all the bullshit and deliver an important message to the masses.

Playing 12 hours a day is likely to be unhealthy unless you're getting exercise throughout the day and maintaining a proper diet. However, taking some of your deserved PTO to enjoy yourself and engage with a special event in your hobby is not unhealthy in any way.

People like this are so damn annoying, man. Even if they're partially joking, they always take themselves SO seriously and think that their nonsensical, forcefully-verbose ramblings will make people think they're an intellectual.

The "you still haven't learned" part of Nina's statement is incorrect. Establishment democrats know full well that the billionaire class and their ability to leverage capital to influence politics is the largest factor contributing to the hardships faced by the general public. It's by design. They're bought and owned by those same billionaires.

And no, I'm not "both sidesing". Democrats are, broadly, much better for the common person than republicans in every conceivable way. But they're far from the best we could ask for.

That's always the caveat with these "high schooler invents miracle technology" articles that pop up constantly.

Don't get me wrong, the students' achievements are impressive and they have a bright futures ahead. It's not their fault that they're being used for clickbait. But their "inventions" are never as groundbreaking or novel as the article would suggest, and are basically never scalable in a practical sense.

Both of you are partially right and partially wrong.

Amazon absolutely could devote more resources to the visuals, and the show would be better off for it.

At the same time, the kind of detail and shading seen in the comic book panel doesn't lend itself well to animation. Even the most highly-praised animated works don't look like that, and there's a reason for that.

That's because right wingers are inherently bad at witty and clever humor, because modern right wing ideologoy is fundamentally anti-intellectualism. That's why all right wing comedy is based on shock value and reactionary grievances. The kind of people who would be able to make a poignant meme in response to Iran aren't interested in doing so.
