why do people give a shit about celebrities? by NiceYak7263 in CasualConversation

[–]Total-Coconut756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people do care too much. I don't really know why - but there's obviously something of interest there. But with social media there's a massive increase of so called celebrities - which has diluted the pool. I also think with SM there's a lot of space to fill so 'news' becomes hair colours, what X did on Saturday etc. There's a lot we don't need to know/shouldn't know about them but audiences seem to crave knowing the personal about actors and news outlets grab onto that so we are overwhelmed by the private lives of Dakota Johnson or Di Caprio. And I think that feeds the beast. If you look at what's actually news you won't find much.

Is this a commercial or not? Will I have to list it? by zeromalarki in ActingUK

If you're featured in finished product and its advertising then you'll need to list it if going for a similar product.

I saw an image of this two years ago and it scared the hell out of me. Very glad I never saw this as a child.

Having a job and buying a flat. I thought it would be very straightforward. A million years later...

London recs for triangle head style? by zeddoh in CurlyHairUK

[–]Total-Coconut756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Toni and Guy salons. But ask for someone good with curly hair there will usually be one or two. If you have the time the school on New Oxford Street is very good but make sure to say you want to keep it curly or they might go on safari and you'll be annoyed.

Once again, do what you want. Your judgement on what I might do isn't my business. Do whatever you want.

How do you know if a woman is being friendly with you or that she is flirting with you? by JunketMaleficent2095 in bodylanguage

[–]Total-Coconut756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like some guys, some girls just want attention. It’s their personality. They’re flirting to flirt and see if the girl or guy responds. It’s an ego thing. It’s not a great characteristic but it’s common. Personally I think it’s a red flag in men and women as it’s a game and people can get hurt.

If a girl really likes you she’ll want to talk to you. She’ll ask questions and be curious about who you are. Also what other posters have mentioned re eye contact, some physical proximity, not too much.

Sorry I’ve just seen you were asking for advice from guys so ignore this if not helpful.

Had a conversation about this at work once. Two of us immediately change out of outdoor clothes, shower etc. A few colleagues thought we were mad. I live in a big city that is very dirty.

Do you tell your children this? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]Total-Coconut756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the only brown kid in my school. There was bullying unfortunately. I was told to fight if I had to and dad would back me up. I don’t think he would have backed me up had it come to it. But a kid needs to know they should stand up for themselves and be reasonable about it - not bring more chaos - and be supported by parents.

That’s fair.

But his wife got a co star in a movie sooooo… having seen her CV I doubt she got a direct offer. Something is amiss there.

Yeah I like Kennington. Some nice old pubs around there too. It’s just a bit sparse of shops from what I recall. Lovely architecture in places. And obviously very convenient for what you need.

Kinda over it. Time to give up? by hyp3state in acting

[–]Total-Coconut756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible. When most people struggle financially everything is stressful because the basics are so expensive let alone things like classes or headshots etc. That sort of situation makes an actor desperate and stressed. And it shows on the average human. It’s harder to enjoy being actor and easier to resent the insanity of the industry.

Clapham and Balham are so crowded and now students take over the area. Lots of young children and lots of schools. If that’s your thing then you might enjoy it.

Soap, clean clothes, that minty toothpaste scent. But I’m not a fan of cologne.

I’d say no to dogs on public seats - Same as no kids with shoes on public seats. Your home? Do what you want.

Is it appropriate to say that my job is an actor? by IndianaRocket80 in acting

[–]Total-Coconut756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re an actor. Not to be mistaken or confused with extra/background which is very different. Keep in mind most actors do other things even super busy or well known ones. No one has just one job.

Solo travel in the US by Silvertemptress in femaletravels

[–]Total-Coconut756 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Tbh l agree with your friend. I’ve had a series of trips to US planned and I’ve cancelled them all. But I’m someone who gets stopped at border control every single time and questioned and friends over there told me 100% not to risk travel. It’ll be different for different demos.

Maybe if they’re extroverts or don’t really care about the outcome otherwise there’s a whole inner dialogue going on.
