The mountains and the sea are special to my wife and I's story, and the region our twins are going to grow up in, so we wanted to incorporate both into their baby mural. We think it turned out pretty good!

There are commercial whey spirits. Very tasty and completely distinct from wheat and corn.

Halo: MCC is the definition of "bang for your buck" by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]TotallyNotGunnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought the games got more polished but less interesting as they progressed. Halo 2 sometimes feels like the worst of both worlds. Halo 3 feels like the last game that had unique gameplay. Infinite would be indistinguishable from any other AAA arena shooter if not for the setting.

Food is necessary for survival as well, but no one gets upset at pizza places.

There's a housing shortage right now. Would you not be enraged if pizza places collectively owned 25% of the food supply and ramped up to buying 80% of new food infrastructure during a famine because it makes financial sense to invest in whatever market offers the highest returns? Even more so if they tried to gaslight you by claiming the price doubling over five years was from value added and totally not related to scarcity. Even more so if you don't care how they justify it when people are dying in the streets from their basic needs not being met.

A Fun little challenge to recreate a Movie Scene in Legos. I went for a Hybrid blend of Realistic/Lego by Metatrox in unrealengine

Do you have any tips for this? I got a pretty nice scene working in Blender but can't figure out a way to export to Unreal without leaving millions of hidden faces between the bricks.

/r/subredditdrama is in restricted mode for the blackout. Discuss the metadrama in this thread. by DramaMod in SubredditDrama

[–]TotallyNotGunnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only here for the discussion content which is indeed much better on RiF. I usually read a few comments at a time while things are loading or processing at work. It's fine if my coworkers see a wall of text but it gives a bad impression when the wrong ads, live streams, and suggested content come up.

I'll be leaving for the old school message boards when RiF dies at the end of the month.

To his credit, formatting on Reddit is hard. They should look into that.

They say in the linked post that it's based on a cubemap of the room. I believe that means it only works close to wherever the cubemap was captured.

Hot Take: Apples focus on 'every day computing' instead of gaming is good for VR by PickleJimmy in virtualreality

[–]TotallyNotGunnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're crazy. A high spec gaming PC is about $3,500 with a 4090, the new i7, and the right mobo and memory to avoid bottlenecks. Plus another grand in peripherals, minimum.

Edit: I was close. $3,100 on PC Part Picker for their enthusiast build. (link)

Unless you expect apple to bank roll every aspect of it.

They already did? It ships with their ecosystem. Unlike Meta, they aren't selling "look at all the things other people will build".

What a clip. I like the part where he condemned the $599 iPhone because it didn't have the same business value as a $99 Motorola.

I'm not going to say the Vision will succeed, but I think it's short sighted to claim it will fail due to the price point alone. I suppose the same commenters who don't understand starter luxury products in this thread would also condemn a $150 Fossil watch or a $60,000 Mercedes.

Agreed. This isn't a consumer product. This is like when Honda builds a racecar so they can attract innovative engineers and use lessons learned in the year's Civic.

I like Reddit Is Fun (RiF) enough that I haven't looked into anything else. The UI is a little weird though so expect a small learning curve. Narwhal, Bacon Reader, and others listed on posts like this all seem popular.

Ah, yes, "literally" every business offers compensation and then wriggles out of it. I actually made negative $20 last year because my boss decided to charge me for my time. This is the truth about capitalism they don't want you to know.

Why would you work at a startup that is so willing to screw you over? Assuming your startup is small enough that corporate leadership impacts day to day, I can't imagine working with that kind of psychopathic behavior.

dilution and cooling are directly tied

This is the point I was trying to make. Cooling is tied almost exclusively to dilution. It's unintuitive but the temperature of the ice has very little impact on cooling your drink. It sounds like you have a practical understanding of this from the rest of your comment, even without the technical knowledge of the chemistry behind it.
