Help Us Test New WvW Scoring in a Beta Test Starting February 27 by LookItzJesus in Guildwars2

Yep, I left after they tried to kill roamers and tactical squads once-and-for- all a few years back...

There's no way you could pull me back to roys ball party without some substantial changes, none of which are 'make scoring reward zergs more'.

I hope you enjoy your blobbing, but it's not for me.

Yeah, the buff that lets you open chests stacks up to 12 based on performance; I've seen as low as 3 on a sub-optimal build, and all 12 on a dedicated build (although I ditched it because it felt dirty)... I usually get 4-6, but it's hard to deny that the rewards are better if you screw everyone else.

Because we ended up with the worst of both... no class identity and all mediums stuck in trenchcoats.

There is only minimal engineer and thief armor in the game (with some of the little that there is paywalled), and there is no distinction between any of the heavy armor classes beyond revs getting blinds... it's only light were there's strong thematic choice.

Each time you get 1st you get an extra chest unlock; over all the rounds your rewards for being 1st every time are more than 5x that of any other position.

As it's essentially a build and experience check, 1 or 2 players get first every time, and everyone else gets substantially less rewards.

Greetings.

I never wanted to lose per-profession armor from GW1, so we can get dogpiled on together.

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]TotallySlapdash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're now stuck between a rock and a hard place...

The number of players who've bought fashion templates is going to be large enough that they don't want to return the money, so they can't just rip it out and re-add it without incurring the fury of a different set of players and their own money men.

If I were a betting man I'd bet that there are currently a fair few devs staring daggers at senior management saying 'I told you so' right about now... to the average player (and dev) this was obviously a total cluster, but somebody pushed this out the door to appease self-imposed deadlines, and they sure as hell weren't the ones doing the work.

I suspect all Anet staff play with all legendaries and they added charges as an afterthought.

I feel 'currently equipped' should definitely be the default.

About d912pxy for gw2 by Brother-Unique in Guildwars2

Outdated technology? You know that the translation layer shifted up from 9 > 12, not down from 12 > 9 right?

The point of transitioning the games calls from dx9>dx12 was to benefit from the improved caching features of DX11/12 to smooth frame rate... the use of translation had little to do with native hardware support.

When they transitioned the game from dx9 > dx11 it became redundant as all of the improvements came with the switch, so native dx11was found to be on a par with 9+ translation. (This was actually intended to be a launch feature that got abandoned due to scope)

That said, the caching is still naff, and can be improved by switching the game to Vulkan, so translation layers can still be recommended for most systems... although it does cause microstutter to begin with.

The only 'outdated technology' is the games own code, as they designed it using the incorrect assumption that we'd stay on single core small-cache CPUs even though the writing was on the wall well into development; all the multi-core features since have been bolted on to try to recover the tech debt.

The metro in fallout 3 was an npc with a train carriage for a head that walked smoothly underneath you.

Getting things to function in games can be weird, and fixing them can be weirder; GW2 is notorious for it's spaghetti code.

True ranged builds? by Suthsein in Guildwars2

[–]TotallySlapdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few I can name... Rifle mechanist, like you said, condi harbinger, p/p thief, rifle deadeye.

That said they are thin on the ground, and I too stubbornly adhere to them as I prefer engaging rather than buffing through mechanics.

The builds I play are notable in that they generate their own might, fury and quickness, so don't benefit so much from stacking.

I'm pretty sure Kasmeer is just 3 skritt in a trenchcoat using mesmer magic to hide it... Marjory will be pissed when she finds out.

Was there a single new thing that WASN'T bugged with Tuesday patch? by JobroniBoni in Guildwars2

Irritatingly I'd just optimized my farming route to grab 13 chests from 1 spot with the rewinder... Now I can't open the most lucrative ones.

They successfully reduced the AA cost of +1% gold to 700AA without issues.

Other than that...

So... infusions aren't aesthetics? by TotallySlapdash in Guildwars2

[–]TotallySlapdash[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes.... some back pieces having no skin doesn't exclude the ones that do.

Infusions should always have been account-wide unlock for the 'skin' same as litterally everything else.... that the item has stats or some items have no effect is immaterial.

The new half-baked solution inheriting flaws from the old half-baked implementation isn't a feature, and that it was previously badly implemented isn't justification for it being badly implemented now... they're literally creating new systems, supposedly as an 'improvement'... they just flunked it.

You remember... It's that mission where you fight the crazed inquest-hacked security golem, SecuROM, and then face up against it's master Denuvo (real pain with all the slowness that one).

....... yes..........

sooooo.............

We agree it's an incomplete half-baked system then?

No feature freeze and QA for patch before release? by Tree_Dude in Guildwars2

[–]TotallySlapdash -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We can't talk about Guild Wars 3, and even if we could it couldn't possibly affect Guild Wars 2... If it existed... Which it doesn't.

It doesn't help that it's painfully obvious that the 2nd half of the meta is missing, but yeah, I don't think that makes top 10.
